Professional Cycling Reborn - Talent Scouting. Deadline passed (so hurry up!)
Atlantius
TMM: I know. A draft is never completely fair. Good thing this isn't what's assigning the top leaders then Wink
I have seen/taking part in the discussions before and as far as I'm aware no one have found the golden solution. However this is the problem with a draft and especially a draft with a randomized start order. Mathematically fair or not this is what I have decide to go with. For those team only getting a few rounds the draft is only about minor adjustments to the roster anyway seeing as there is not really any top level leaders in the draft pool anyway.

Sorry to ask another question Embarassed but is there a specific number of riders to send? in preference order?

In preference order. And enough riders for you to be sure there's enough so that no one else have picked them. For this round it should be pretty straight forwad as you're the only one sllowed to draft Italians and you only get to draft 1 Wink

The Schleck Fan seems to have gone a-wall and haven't logged in for over a week. I have PM'ed him yesterday hoping he gets e-mail notifications, but if he haven't come online by tomorrow I'll just move on.

In the mean time lets look a bit ahead to how I plan to run scouting. Input are welcome to adjust the details best possibly.

Talent Scouting

Talent scouting will be directly connected to the U23 Calender.
Top results and top rankings from the U23-races will be covered runningly throughout the season.
National teams will be adjusted so all focus nations will be part of a national team. For that reason some national teams will include more than one nation from the same region.

The U23 Calender consists of 14 classics + Worlds and 8 stages race + l'Avenir.
All teams will be given 75 pts to use for scouting. They go towards attending races and talent assessments.
Attending a race gives you detailed results of your focus nation and one more team of your choosing. Attending Tour de l'Avenir and the World Championships are free for all.
Talent assessment gives you additional info on the asessed riders. Most importantly an estimate of their talent level. This will be disguised through randomness so that a talent level 4 can give values from 3-5, 5 can give 4-6 etc. as well as the name his current highest stat.
Age and region of riders will be made available through the DB when the season has begun.

Costs

Attending a classic2pts
Attending a stage race6pts
Talent assessement, 2 random riders from a given nation3pts
Talent assessement, 1 rider named after the race6pts

Attendance includes full results of your local national team sent via PM after the race. You can only asess talent in a race you're attending. You can buy more than one talent assessment per race you're attending.

Sure. Drafting is voluntary. I'll post results etc in an hour or so.

The talent scouting looks awesome, though I feel that 100 points per team might be a bit much, considering the low costs. But maybe I am totally wrong here. Smile

Drafting

First the results:
Adria Mobil signed Mikelj, Tratnik & Bole
Euskadi signed Bravo, R. García & Verdugo
Bardiani signed Ballan
Torku signed no one

The DB have been updated to reflect this.

Rounds 11-9

Same procedure. Only riders from the region of focus nation as detailed in the last round.

I have realized that there is only one Turkish FA in the DB so I have decided that Torku is allowed to sign old riders from outside Turkey limited to the following countries from the same region: TUR, CRO, SER, BUL, GRE, ISR, ALB, MKD, CYP.

Talent Scouting Discussion

Happy that the general concept seems to be liked.
100 points could very well be bit many. Was just a nice round number and I wasn't quite sure what would be a suiting level.

How may races and assessments do you think should be possible. The 100 points allows signing up for all races and making a few assessments.
Should it be possible to sign up for all and if so should it then be possible to also get talent asessments if you go to all the races?

Man the Draft is boring Pfft

On Scouting:
I'd keep the costs and ideas the same, just cut the number of Points to 75. That means you'll be able to go to all races except one, but would have no assessments. This opens up some more strategy into the process i think

So based off your feedback I will reduce the points to 75 and otherwise keep the system.

Also to pass some waiting time:
NATIONAL TEAMS

Since Talent scouting is tied to the U23-races and they are ridden with national teams I have made some changes linking more nations to a national team.
These are the changes:

- All African countries linked to one National Team
- Baltic countries linked to Poland.
- Belarus linked to Russia
- Canada, USA and Mexico form North American team.
- Asia gets a team
- Slovakia and Czech Republic merges.
- South-East Europe, excluding Slovenia, gets a team.
- Ukraine meregs with the rest of East Europe, except the Baltic countries and Belarus
- New Zealand is linked to Australia
- Norway linked with Sweden, Finland and Iceland.
- Luxembourg linked to Netherlands
- Non-Colombian South America form a team together.
- San Marino becomes part of Italy
- Andorra becomes part of Spain
- Liechtenstein linked to Switzerland.

That means that every single country in the DB is now linked to a National Team and thus possible to scout from to the extent that their riders can get on the team.

The DB have been updated to reflect this.

Draft Rounds 8-6

Introducing Lotto and Orica to the draft in round 6.
Same rules as in previous rounds, which means Lotto may only sign Belgians and Orica may only sign Australians and Kiwis.

Again fast responses are appreciated. I'd like this to close in 48 hours unless people actively request more time. Shouldn't take long to do though.

For round 5 it is only allowed to sign Riders of 20 years or younger if they are from your focus nation.
For round 5+4 it is only allowed to sign Riders of 30 years or older if they are from your focus nation.
From round 3 there is no limitations to the draft.

Draft list to me via PM in the following format:
Rider 1
Rider 2
Rider 3
...

If you want to sign riders no eligible in all rounds please split your draft list into separat lists containing only eligible riders. It's no problem to put riders on multiple lists.

Pff, there goes Benoot and I'm guessing Lotto sweeps Belgium in the next three rounds Sad
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I have only 1 pick in the last round, so most of the teams are in better places Wink (anti-complain post)
