Wow, really nice to see Polish cycling growing! Smile

As you do, Financial Times designed Sprinter ranking earlier in the race, and now used it to judge who are the best sprinters in the world.

Why is Gaviria higher than Gorilla has ever been?

Alakagom
Maybe cause in every stage race Gaviria rode he got a stage win Grin

Obviously their Ranking which uses variant of ELO doesn't take length into it. And all races Gaviria rode had a decent sprint competition as well so his high rating from start makes sense.

Doctors in Abu Dhabi say Boonen cannot ride a bike for the next 6 months (which would probably end his career). He hopes to get a second opinion in Belgium when he's cleared to fly.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Yeah but fracture is healed in about a month.
He says he'll probably be able to ride in a month.
But we'll have to see, of course Smile

It looks like Team Colombia will fold https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/colom...-problems/ sad to see but in saying that I'm no fan of Claudio Corti so it might not be all bad

Agreed. It would be a crying shame to not have a Colombian team at either WT level or PCT level considering their status in the sport (5th on the nation rankings), but then again this is Corti's team we're talking about, surely one of the most horribly mismanaged teams on the circuit. So much potential in the squad, yet so little results. Take Fabio Duarte for example, a fantastically talented rider, U23 world champion and all that, who should be at his peak now aged 29 but is just rapidly disappearing from the scene, a couple of last-week Giro stage podiums from the field in the mountains in 2013 and 2014 aside. Jarlinson Pantano is another good example: always labelled as 'promising' at Colombia he has found a new life at IAM, being very active in the breaks in the Tour and finishing Top 20 overall. Their only success story recently has been Rodolfo Torres, who is a bit of an anomaly; no one else seems to have notably progressed at the team in the last few years.

I hear Manzana Postobon (basically a reboot of the old Colombia es Pasión/Café de Colombia team) are thinking of becoming a fully-fledged Europe-travelling CT team next year, with a view to becoming PCT in Colombia's absence. With talented riders like Bernardo Suaza (Aosta winner last year) and Hernán Aguirre (really talented climber who finished Top 10 in Vuelta a Colombia this year, unusual for an U23 in a race often dominated by the Sevilla's of this world) and I think Juan Ernesto Chamorro (2nd in Avenir three years ago, 1 second behind Warren Barguil) rode with them this year, not sure though, this would be a great move, and make up for the disappearance of not just the Colombia PCT team but also 4-72 Colombia that disbanded after troubles with the national federation last year.
They would be a great addition to the fold, under the direction of Saldarriaga (I think?) rather than Corti, who is much better, and I would be excited to see them go PCT, not least for their sexy pink jerseys Cool

Actually Chamorro is retired due to personal problems...

Manzana Postobon is going to be CT next year, and Suaza is going to be the leader, also Aguirre and some other riders like Paredes, PanAm U23 champ in 2014, there's a Basque rider who will ride with them in 2016, and maybe they'll sign some other young europeans, specially for sprint, tt and cobble races which aren't our best field...

Yes, Saldarriaga will train them along with Oscar de Jesus Vargas, who rode in Europe in the late 80's with some succes...

Some riders from Colombia should be in the team, I hope Molano and Martinez, at least...

Thank you for that; I had wondered what had happened to Chamorro, very sad to see that. Apart from that, it sounds pretty promising!

I'd happily take 22 top tens in a season without a win and get paid to ride my bike. Anyway it might be frustrating for the rider and team but it's better than doing nothing all season and being pack fodder

Yeah and in Benoot's case it's actually pretty amazing.
It goes from top 10s in The Ronde to a mountain stage in the Dauphiné to Paris - Tours. Incredible season and what an all-rounder!

Benoot and Roelandts pretty much sums up Lotto's season. A lot of good results, but if it wasn't for Greipel and Wellens, that would have been a very bad season.

Also good to see Planckaert up there, a very solid sprinter. A bit disappointed in Van Asbroeck to be honest, seems like has problems adapting to the WT.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

The UCI gala took place at Abu Dhabi on Sunday. Sagan according to czech press agency came to the show dressed in motorbike-like clothes and when he was given a framed rainbow jersey, he broke the glass and dressed up into the jersey. Pfft

The source is czech press agency, i would like some video of that.
I'll be back

Seriously?
Lotto has had an amazing season. They scored wins with so many different riders. I actually think they had one of their best seasons ever.

Racked up 40 wins! Yes Greipel and Wellens were the biggest but Boeckmans was pretty rocking, Debusschere was impressie and really came of age. Gallopin almost won Paris-Nice as well remember. Lotto have been really very good this year, much better than expected.

Well, ok, they'll never be a top team, but their stage racers were very disappointing in my opinion (the Giro fiasco in particular). Their Ardennes campaign was a disaster as well. Yeah, they had a lot of wins, but is was mostly smaller races, while with tihs team, I think they could do so much better. But maybe I'm just overestimating their potential, I don't know Smile
