Hope someone can help with this.
Ive been using Lachi's editor occasionally on a long running savegame, I'm now in 2030 and have a large (5MB) cdb file.
The Editor has suddenly stopped working. It opens the cdb savegame, but when exporting the cdb after making changes, it will not overwrite the existing cdb. I've tried saving to a new location/ using a different name, but no success. It goes through the full process including the final step 'Building Database' exactly as before. Nothing has changed other than no file will be saved at end.
Ive also tried the Full and Excel editors but neither will open the cdb without hanging.
I can still open and re-save old Weekly Saves using Lachi's editor, so I'm guessing issue is with the latest cdb... anyone have any ideas?? |

Not sure if I understand properly, but I made a copy of the ~ file, changed the extension to .cdb and tried to edit + save this.
No joy.
Is there a max file size or something? This started as soon as the file hit 5MB.
As it stands, all i can think of is go back a few weeks and continue an earlier weekly save, see if problem happens again. |

Do you know how to use the editors?
In my editor, you would have to "Export to cdb" after editing.
I recommend to give another name and not overwrite the original file in case you messed up the editing.
Then you would load the newly created file in the game. |

Hi Lachi,
Yes I know how to use the editors and have had no problem using yours for 2 years. I always give the new file a new name when exporting.
I've done some tests going backto weekly saves from a few weeks ago and it is definitely the case that when the cdb file reaches 5MB, a new export will not work. At 4.96MB, I can edit and export a new file no problem, but once I advance a few days on quick sim to 5.01MB none of the editors will create a new cdb (or overwrite existing). I've tried this multiple times. While everything looks OK on-screen in your editor, when I go back to the folder that holds the cdb after the final "Building Database" step, the new one just isnt there!
Have you ever come across this problem before?
Does anyone have any suggestions on reducing the cdb size of a savegame (is that even possible?). I'm in 2030 and all the retired cyclists are still on the DB, as well as their palmares. Other than one-by-one, is there a way to clean up this?
Thanks |

The palmares makes a big part of the database and using excel editor made by lachi, you can remove a lot of rows at the same time if you don't feel the need of such a large palmares

This is going from bad to worse... Was going to try this but Excel editor keeps hanging when it tries to open the palmares/ dyn_cyclist files. Opens the smaller size files OK, but not the bigger ones. Grrr!!! |

It will take a bit more but it will work for me. It should be related to your ram, try closing all the programs but excel and try again. I run the editor smoothly with 4 gb of ram

8G of RAM, still goes into 'Not Responding" every time and doesnt come out of it. Thansk for your help mate... I think this might lead to a new career, maybe even PCM2015! |

Just curious, do you have Windows 64 bit?
