Last lap started, Jasinka alone at the front with a smaller chasing group following. Peloton at around a minute, and they ride right now like the race is ending for them with many teams not willing to chase. Could become a great lap full of action.

Thanks guys for your loyal support! This has really been a motivating factor for me to come back again next year and earn my spot in the national team. I'll make a longer post about my plans once I've finalised a few decisions.
Now to get back to the point of this thread - women's racing is so different to mens! A very welcome change of tactics and strategy. It's interesting how they don't let a break get away. It seems like a very high pace for the duration of their races. Holding thumbs for Ashleigh Moolman!
Don't panic Aidan. Daily'll make a Janez Brakjovic of you yet.
Anywho, this BBC coverage, even with Chris Boardman in check, is properly awful. Jasinka's got a chance.

Peloton completely throwing away their chances. Belgium and UK big losers with no rider in the chasing group I think?
Obviously quite pissed that Emma Johansson isn't featured upfront either, hmpf!

OK, Boardman and Brotherton have literally no clue what's going on. Someone explain, please?

In my opinion, I find this extremely worrisome. Any national cycling organization or any organization that puts it's chances to win on the back burner for the sake of "diversity", are really the racist ones.
It's not racism to try and help people and communities that have had many many many years of institutionalised oppression based on race to find there feet, it might start with quotas but that changes over time. How is this a problem?
This is what I was thinking as well, similar to the UCI's vision with the World Cycling Centre, developing cycling in countries that don't have a cycling history, and may not necessarily have any good cyclists at all, just in an attempt to spread the sport to as many people as possible. Mind you, Cycling SA's vision may be a good one, but I don't think that should be taken as a priority of any kind for racing at an event such as the World Championships, where it would be much more beneficial to South African cycling on a whole to send the strongest team possible and improve their chances of getting a good placing, and by extent helping to draw more national attention to cycling as well as have grounds to institute thorough development programs for riders from all walks of life. No matter race, sex, religion, etc., everyone should have equal opportunities - meaning those who work harder or are more suited for the job outweigh those who don't/aren't - and social biases shouldn't get in the way of that.

So, who is the hottest in the group, who should I cheer for? So far, Fahlin seems a good bet.
