I've always agreed on race days too. Why is there a limits to how much teams and riders can race? They know themselves and their schedules. The rider's know their bodies. And if the manager overworks them, leave the team next year!
It's a damn shame crap races like Dhabi get promoted when there are so many good HC level races. It's just Beijing with a better money base. Doesn't make for better racing or attendance.

If those rich oil guys, think they will ever get anywhere near historic stage races as Paris Nice, Tirreno Adriatico, Dauphine Libere, Pais Vasco and so on - They will be in for a suprise. Just because they have World Tour status doesn't mean they will come anywhere near.
I hope for these races to be upgraded:
Strade Bianchi
Tour of California
Paris Tours (Think a iconic race like this, should never have been stripped of in the first place)
Also i would Love to see Japan Cup ending the World Tour
If any of those races featuring in the Asian tour, should be promoted i woul say it's should be Tour of Qatar. The race have actually been around for a good while, and is a well established race, compared to Tour of Oman and Dubai Tour. |

Agree but to many races can't support themselves financially and with the sick state that cycling is in with regards to money these races won't be given a lifeline by the UCI, I don't find the desert races all that interesting with Oman being the best of them but looking at it purely from the business side of it they can sustain themselves with to many European races struggling. Cycling clearly needs a restructure and I'm keenly interested to see this plan in full because just a rejig of the calendar and things like rider caps won't be nearly enough to keep the sport viable at a high level, to many teams survive thanks to rich guys propping them up like BMC, Tinkoff, Orica. Trek look to be trying to make a sustainable model which makes sense, then we have other teams that constantly struggle to stay afloat, merging or simply folding. I think the sport at the pro level really needs to downsize to stay viable

Great news
Well that was very likely to be the case. Sportsmen have a hugely greater chance of surviving the cancer than ordinary people because they get tested a lot so yeah.
Nice one Ivan. |

Looks like the UCI are determined to keep races predictable and keeping the excitement to a minimum with race radios to stay in the WT and extending down to .1, H.C races in 2016 https://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/l...vTLAwez.99

Yup, very bad decision. Omloop, Strade, Tro Bro & many other lower-division races show how great racing without race radios and constant WT points-thinking tend to be, despite their arguably weaker startlists. It's the exactly wrong direction they are taking.

So true! I honestly can't see any reason why they are needed, I keep hearing the excuse of safely or mechanicals which is rubbish but if the teams want it then make the radios one way so riders can contact team cars but cars can't contact riders. It's just another in a long list of poor decisions by the overlords

What a bad decision by UCI. Corrupted stinking pond cant be endangered by unpredictability i guess.
Same rigid idiots like in FIFA...

All new for 2016, a Womens World Tour! Replacing the current World Cup this is just like the World Tour but for women... duh. This means a huge increase from 10 race days to 35 fully supported top level race days.
Four Stage Races join the party: Tour of Chongming Island, Tour of California, Aviva Womens Tour and Giro Feminile.
Fleche Wallonne, Plouay, Ronde, Suede RR and ITT, Drenthe, Trofea Binda and Philly Classic all keep their top level status. Joining them are: Strade Bianche, Gent-Wevelgem, La Course, the Madrid Challenge and RideLondon.
The Top20 Womens Teams will be invited to each event, and some races will be allowed to invite a couple more teams as well. The UCI is also adding some real backing with a massive social media burst and creating a dedicated Womens Cycling Channel (presumably this is on Youtube). And there'll be a proper U23 ranking as well as an overall WWT ranking. Plus all the races that signed-up agree to reach a minimum standard in organisation, including ability to provide live tv coverage and have functioning websties and social media.
The Sparkassen Giro and One-Day Tour of Chongming miss out as do some other larger Tours but you've gotta leave some room to grow!
This is just a massive massive jump forwards to the Womens peloton, huge. And i mean, finally there's World Tour races in the USA and GB. Heck, even the Chinese one works. The normal World Tour should be ashamed

Horrible news.
Why?
Is it because they think it will decrease falls? Because it won't..
Is it because they think it'll lead to nicer racing? Because it won't.
Who makes those radios? Do they sponsor the UCI? |

Yeah indeed, they have been talking about it for some time now and last time I heard something was that they wern't decided which year to go for. It's good that they make the bid official.
Many great climbs around Innsbruck that make for steep ramps in a circuit-type race, hope it'll be a mountain orgy.
