In the long run this might not be the worst thing for Dumoulin to finish of the podium, if he had won or made the podium the pressure on him would of been enormous for next season and beyond. At least with what's happening here he might be able to develop without all the hype of being the next GC star, he might not be a real GC rider and he should be allowed to take his time and work out what type of rider he is. I'm obviously not to accustomed to how the Dutch fans/media so not sure what type of pressure will be brought into him by his countrymen

So good to see Ruben Plaza has still got it.  I would love to see him win this stage, is he a good descender? How old is he again?

He won descending into Gap in the Tour so he can hold his own

I really enjoyed a stage like this, a long range breakaway attack. This guy is tough. Too bad Tom D's dream is shattered in an instant. Better luck next season.

And with 2 stage wins aswell, Orica said this race was his goal and he hasn't cracked in the 3rd week like many thought he would, should give him great confidence going into next year and obviously Orica has great faith in him

It's so good to see Chavez hang in there for a top 5 GC spot. I will be rooting on this kid for next season.

too bad he'll likely never get a chance to ride a GC again. he doesn't want to finish like 6th in a GT and 5th in the worlds TT. he wants to win and I hope he chooses for the worlds
