In the Giro Bio of 2010 Dumoulin put 2:27 in Aru. Both are much better now. But I still think it's realistic that Aru and Rodriguez lose between 2 and 3'30, depending on what day Dumoulin is on.
If he's on a really good day, like TDF 2014 or World CH 2014...they could all be destroyed |

That was hilly though, this one's much flatter so the gaps could be bigger between Dumoulin and the rest.
The TT at Suisse was not hilly, have a closer look at the elevation profile of that TT and you'll see that it was far from hilly.
Edit: Suisse TT was around 460-480 elevation gain, no idea what the Vuelta TT is but looks roughly on poor stage profile to be 200-300 maybe more

and if he's on a bad day, like Nationals 2015, he might not even win. which is also a possibility even despite he rode nationals on 70% and tired from Suisse, he's now tired Vuelta.
edit: Strydz with that super zabel skills, zabeling me now (although with different information) and beating me to the Kittel question by Ian

I watched that TT on tv. The end seemed pretty hilly at least. It's harder than Burgos anyway. |

If Dumoulin was tired from Suisse, he must be dead exhausted now.

Yeah but Majka is also a better TT-Rider then Aru and Purito. |

Will go head to head between Aru and Dumuolin, only previous meeting between the two in the Giro of 2010, where Dumoulin gave 2'27 "to Aru 30 km.
Logic says Dumoulin, but Aru has grit and strength, and is one that knows how to throw your heart over the obstacle.

Aru is very bad at TT, dunno why stats from 2010 is being mentioned.
Dumo will put 2-3.30 on purito and aru.
Dumo will win GT, Majka second third is open.
Strydz 2 weeks ago we argued about which jaw Tom's hand have been in. You kept arguing it wasnt a surprise of his perfomance, what about now after these days? The guys he copes with and guys he outclimbs..
The guy weighs 15 kg more than some of his rivals.

I really hope either Dumoulin or JRod pull this off. JRod because he deserves it and Dumoulin because he's kinda sympathic to me.

Dumoulin is the type of power rider I like so I'd like to see him win but Purito really deserves to win a GT as in his career he's been worth at least 2 GT's. |

Schleck, Bennett, Purito... Somebody wake me up now because this dream is too damn cruel
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

The riders can go screw at this point. The only one who deserves to win is Dumoulin honestly.
Though I do in my heart want Purito to win but if him not attacking further out today costs him the title I wont feel bad.
No matter the stage design if the Peloton doesnt want to try you dont have a bike race.
Dumoulin knows he is the best by a pretty significant amount in the TT so he just has to follow and keep everything close. The rest of these guys should be ashamed of themselves for how they have raced.
There is NO difference between 5th and 20th place. So not trying because you want to conserve that 5th place is just laughable.
This is the reason Alberto is amazing, he makes races and stages exciting no matter if he wins or loses. Part of being a great athlete is being exciting to not just your fans but everyone.

How can I be surprised with cycling anymore? Watched Indurain, Armstrong and then the overnight transformation of Froome from pack fodder to GT star! It's hard to get surprised by Dumoulin.....
But yes I will concede to you that his performance to still be in contention is surprising

Even Purito at his best (and he is nowhere near his best anymore) didn't attack from a long way out, he's never been a true long range climber but always a punchy climber, if he would of attacked from a long way out today then he would be lucky to still be in the top 3 because he would of faltered. Also the race doesn't end after the TT, even if Dumoulin pulls out a massive TT which is 50/50 he still won't be anymore than a minute in front with 2/3 stages where the other riders and teams have a shot of gaining time.
Also to say there is no difference between 5th and 20th place is rubbish, maybe not to you and fans but it might mean something to the rider and team, I get tired of fans demanding riders do this and that, it's the riders career not ours, I'd be pretty happy to get to the end of my career and say I'd finished 5th in a GT

I am talking at 2km instead of 1km. Not some crazy 20km attack.
What stage after the TT allows for any real time gain without a rider having a mechanical or totally cracking? Answer none.
The riders have a career because of the fans. |

I still have my faith in Purito winning this GT. He's a deserving rider than any of the top 5. But I wouldn't mind if Aru, Tom, or Majka gets the overall, these riders are awesome so far. Majka seems tired in every interview he's had, or is that how he really is?
