Jaysuma Saidy Ndure seems to be enroute this season, having beaten his norwegian record at the 100m. Today he did a 9.95 run, beating his old record which stood at 9.99.
He also did ran a 9.92, but the tailwind was 2.3.
Edit: According to the Norwegian Athletic Association, the record might not stand because for reasons unknown, the wind measurement device was placed at a 45 degree angle, and not parallell to the track. They believe someone might have inadvertently nudged it out of place.

I hope I'm not the only one taking abreak from the World Cup to watch the Diamond League event from New York. The height jump was absolutely insane!

Reigning triple jump world champion Teddy Tamgho is suspended for one year due to missing out on three doping test. The ban is backdated to March 18th.

Hm... I remember finding a bit strange how a triple jump athlete was so many months without competing at all, like he was, and then suddenly he does more than 18m (in the last world champs if I recall correctly).
Oh well |

So European Championships Day 1: Good day of athletics with Pavey (W 10000Metres) and Storl (M ShotPut) winning the first golds.
Team Ireland had a decent day with Thomas Barr qualifying fastest in the 400H and Mark English winning his 800M heat pretty decent for 21 years old and Brian Gregan qualifying with ease a good run from Fionnula Britton to place 8th in the 10000metres aswell.
So Irish fanboyism over I just thought we should bump this thread for the Euro Champs

Dont forget (my former clubmate) Richard Morrissey who ran a 46.20 PB in the heats for the 400m and qualified for the semis (All be it that he'll be the only one in the semis who doesnt have a PB of sub 46...).
Also a decent enough showing from Sarah Lavin who had a good outing in the 100h considering that its her first major Championship and her first season competing among senior athletes!

Asmir Kolašinac, my cousin, guy from our little town, European Shot Put Champion from Helsinki (basically until yesterday) had some hard time and finished 5th. He literally ALMOST got the silver medal, but lost balance and gone out of the circle in one really strange way at last shot. That shot would be his PB, as it was 21m something and it's a real shame, but yeah, he's still fairly young for this discipline (29), so he can only get better in future.

Jeez didnt know Morrissey got in as a fastest loser fairplay to him anyway and nice run by Lavin too of course

Christine McMahon also made the Semi's in the 400h this morning... Another person I forgot to mention yesterday is Phil Healy, who barely missed the semis with a strong performance (same criteria as for Lavin no less)...
And In a few short minutes its Tommy's time to make it to the final. Would love to have a friend of mine (and co-competitor) be in with a shot at a major championship medal!

So, Mekhissi-Benabbad is disqualified from the 3000m SC.
Personally I think it's a stern decision, but a correct one. Removing your shirt while still running and celebrating the way he did is disrespectful to the competitors, the sponsors, the organizers and just about everyone else.
Sure, it didn't influence the outcome of the race, but it's extremely poor sportmanship.

I fully support this decision to disqualify him. How stupid can you be to do something like that?
Also this athelete has the past of doing strange things, like punching the mascott without a reason, or fighting with his collegue. IQ below 50 probably, Suarez of athletics...

Aslı Çakır Alptekin gets 8 year ban and has his results from July 2010 onwards deleted. She deserved a lifetime ban though.
I was being very happy when she and Gamze Bulut made the double. But I was very naive back then.
Probably Gamze Bulut is doped as well.
What a disgusting country we are.We can't even dope properly. |

It was great! She even beat the european record from 1979(!) and set the 3rd best time ever!
And for the first time ever, the three medal winners was faster than 22 seconds. |

yeah but hurdles is much more technique. Shubenkov didn't touch any of the hurdles while Oliver for example ran through all of them

This is true, raw power only takes you so far when it comes to the hurdle events, Sally Pearson regularly beat faster runners over the hurdles thanks to have a great technique
