sadly Duarte and Txurruka are out of the race for the Top10...but surely they will do something in breakaways |

He got caught in a crash with 30 km to go. Was a couple minutes back. Fought hard to get back with a couple of teammates. So he was tired.
But it doesn't matter cause apparently they're going to either DQ him or give him a 10 minute time penalty.
Totally ridiculous imo. Quite the farce this Vuelta has already become

Correct decision by the jury. A shame for the race, but what Nibali/Astana did was ridiculous. Can only think they thought they would get away with it without any TV motorbikes, not thinking of the helicopter!

Only decision they could've made really. Not taking the millions Vino will probably have offered them is good too. Hanging on a car doing 100km/h is just ridiculous, and you should always get a DQ for that! Well done jury!

This is something that happens every race. Guys come back from crashes using team cars. Every race. Never have they thrown someone out the first offense. During GT's at the end it happens once or twice but thats if a rider gets caught multiple times.

Man the curse was on Nibbles when I had him in my Velogames team.
But another sordid chapter in cyclings soap opera - desperate stuff from Vincenzo and the Astana mob. Puts a big tarnish for me on him. I already have dubbed him the hypocrites choice, PCMDaily's favourite cyclist 2014 was it?

I wonder if the jury would've done the same if it was Valverde or another Spanish dude. |

Well, the Tour is a different race. Much more international. Besides Peraud probably wasn't a big name at the time, wasn't he?
Edit: I think it's the right decision, though.

Astana DS Alexandre Shefer also banned and Astana will have only one car for the next two races. And a 200 francs fine for Nibali and Shefer - that will teach em. |

Well Peraud wass 2nd in the Tour (highest frenchie in over 20 years) the year before so he's no small finish.

Harsh decision on Nibali, imo.
But serves Astana right.
Kinda contradictory view, I know.
But as mentioned before it happens in every race but they way
Astana and Nibali did it was "tiny wee bit" to much.
Wonder what they'll come up with to get rid of the other non-spanish GC contenders.

Spilak was talking about the stage where Peraud crashed this year I believe, otherwise the point still applies to this year, the crash may have been worse but with not much other action going on most of the time the camera was on him, and it was there for everyone to see him holding onto cars and sticky bottling iirc
EDIT: How did I miss that I must have not reloaded the page dumb jandal

Oh wait I completely misread your post.
I thought you were mentioning that Peraud got disqualified in the TdF at one point in his career, but you were referring to last TdF when he the jury let him continue. You're right about that. And Peraud just happens to be a big name in France, too. |
