At work and really bored so I decided to give my input on the draft, but first, big props to everybody active yesterday, it was really fun.
The draft with 2 really big facemelters: Rodgers @1, Luck @2; I almost rechecked to see if this is a 2QB league. Then it went back to normal with only a few strange picks and some sick value at others.
Overall, I am pretty happy with my team, but it could use some improvements.
Round 1, pick 11: CJ Anderson. It was between him DT, but decided to go with the RB because of the format and the fact that I thought I could get an elite WR in rd2.
Round 2, pick 22: AJ Green. And here is my elite wideout; I was pretty lucky as there is a drop-off between AJG and Jeffery, Cobb, TY.
Round 3, pick 43: Jordan Matthews. I got my hopes up seeing Forsett drop so much, but he was taken 5 spots ahead and also JStew was sniped right before by the computer. Took BPA.
Round 4, pick 54: Melvin Gordon. Considering PCMDaily's love for RBs, how is he still available here? Starting RB on a very good offense. Also considered Andre Johnson here.
Round 5, pick 75: TJ Yeldon. I wanted Romo, but again sniped by the computer. Lol Jaguars and all, but he has very nice upside and as a FLEX he's amazing value at 75. Usually goes 20 positions earlier.
Round 6, pick 86: Allen Robinson. See above. I'm also very high on him; he might surprise a few people this year.
Round 7, pick 107: Carson Palmer. My biggest disappointment of this draft. For some reason I thought Bradford was gone and Palmer was the last QB available that I like.
Round 8, pick 118: Arian Foster. At this position he's just amazing. Instead of the scrubs available here that I'm only playing in bye weeks I'm getting a stud RB for the last weeks of the season. If I'm making the playoffs this might be player that gets me to the championship.
Round 9, pick 139: Dolphins DEF. They were very good last year, but with the addition of Suh and I think they are going to be very good. They also have a nice schedule to start the season.
Round 10, pick 150: Owen Daniels. He was very down on NFL.com rankings, but didn't want to risk and took him here to complete my starters roster.
Round 11, pick 171: Knile Davis. He doesn't posses that much value, but in case of a Charles injury I can trade him to JC's owner.
Round 12, pick 182: David Funchess. Already missed on some rookie wideouts that I liked, had to take him.
Round 13, pick 203: Markus Wheaton. Upside pick.
Round 14, pick 214: Tyler Lockett. Same; he's also their most talented receiver.
Round 15, pick 235: Josh Hill. I'll probably drop him for a kicker.
My team:
QB: Carson Palmer
RB: CJ Anderson, Melvin Gordon, TJ Yeldon, Arian Foster, Knile Davis
WR: AJ Green, Jordan Matthews, Allen Robinson, David Funchess, Markus Wheaton, Tyler Lockett
TE: Owen Daniels, Josh Hill
K: lol
DEF: Dolphins
Very happy with my first picks, then kinda bummed I missed on some high upside guys. NFL.com gave me an A+ and also said that I'm projected to go 10-3, but they also said that I had no chance last year so their projections don't mean shit.
As for the other teams I think code, jph and Dolphin Mafia drafted very well. Their teams have a high floor and have some nice upside.
Sorry for the long post, but as I said I'm at work and don't have anything to do.
Good luck to everybody!
At home and really bored so... why not copy sosososik.
Great experience during the draft. Obviously didn't get everyone I wanted, but I think I come out okay. Draft results gave me an A with a projected 8-5 record finishing 7th overall.
Round 1, pick 13: LeSean McCoy (RB1). In a 16-team, 2-RB + plus FLEX league it has to be a RB in the first round. I was tempted by taking my boy Megatron but he is coming off an injury prone year and I wanted to take Golden Tate later in the draft.
Round 2, pick 20: Jordy Nelson (WR1). Hardest pick for me. Wanted D. Murray but didn't drop. So, it was Nelson, AJ and OBJ. Hate the Packers but Nelson always lights me up in Fantasy. So, why not change things up and flip the script.
Round 3, pick 45: Sammy Watkins (WR2). The first long wait. All the good RBs disappear as expected. Now I'm waiting out to get Ameer Abdullah so I take the best WR available.
Round 4, pick 52: Matthew Stafford (QB). Didn't take Mega and I just know Tate is going to get taken before I come up again (and just took Watkins). So, Stafford it is. Banking on Ameer staying on the board to round 5. Which I thought was possible as his rank was in the 100's.
Round 5, pick 77: Julius Thomas (TE). Go figure. Tate and Ameer go back-to-back at 59 & 60. Now I'm left with just 1 top RB. Not good. So I start to frantic look for RBs. Time is starting to run down and can't find anyone I like. So, I take Thomas. He was great for me last season, hopefully being in JAX won't hurt him too much. Although broken finger isn't a good start.
Round 6, pick 84: Doug Martin (RB2). Found my RB. Was confused to still see Martin on the board. He was like a Round 1 or 2 pick for the last couple of seasons. Quickly doing some scouting and can't really find a reason why other than Charles Sims in the picture.
Round 7, pick 109: John Brown (BN). Possible FLEX guy with a chance to move up the Cardinals depth chart.
Round 8, pick 116: Reggie Bush (BN). Can't stay healthy to save his life but when he is he can decide a game. So good value considering I'm not relying on him to stay healthy.
Round 9, pick 141: Nelson Agholor (FLEX). Never heard of him. But he was highly ranked and still on the board. So I looked him up and found this.
Round 10, pick 148: Charles Sims (BN). My handcuff for Dougie.
Round 11, pick 173: Blake Bortles (BN). Perfect back-up for Stafford (bye 9). Bortles was a Bye on Week 8 and plays the Jets in Week 9.
Round 12, pick 180: Kyle Rudolph (BN). Proven steady TE. Great safety value with Thomas doesn't work out.
Round 13, pick 205: Matt Prater (K). Kickers started to go early but somehow Prater stayed on the board. With the Lions high-powered offense that's crazy.
Round 14, pick 212: Bengals Defense (DEF). Eh. A defense is a defense. Wanted Detroit because I get to watch them every week but oh well.
Round 15, pick 237: Marqise Lee (BN). Could have gone back-up kicker or defense but went for another sleeper in Lee. Some upside but if he is useless then he won't be on the team for long.
I really like trading, so i chose Jimmy and Kelce to be deep in a position of need and of course i am open to trade one of them, if there is the right offer. :-)
Thought I'd provide my thoughts on the draft. First, kudos to all of you that made it a quick process, I think we got this one done faster than before!
NFL.com gave me a B, and a projected 9-4 record.
1(4): Marshawn Lynch. First I would agree with sosososik here, you guys are crazy drafting QBs at 1 and 2. So I had the wonderful choice of Peterson, Charles, Lacy, and Lynch here. Here's the bullshit reason I chose him. Peterson is 30, and is probably due for an injury. Lacy might not be that impressive with a healthy Aaron Rodgers. And I had Charles last year, so wanted to change it up. So by no means is this a good pick, just a personal preference.
2(29): DeAndre Hopkins. Had him last year, and I just had to rep a Texans player on my team. He's obviously now solidified into the No. 1 role on the team, and the Texans obviously haven't used TEs often after Kubiak's departure. Great hands and a deep threat, so I think he will be a top 5 fantasy WR this year.
3(36): Alfred Morris. Receivers and quarterbacks seemed to be everyone else's focus this round, but I didn't fall into the group mindset. Can't emphasize how important solidifying your two RB starters are in a deep league (this was even more so the case last year!), so I went and got a starter.
4(61): Torrey Smith. To be honest I don't think anyone had an amazing pick this round, with the exception of Melvin Gordon. So once again, I did not want to rush the QB or TE position, and went with Smith. He and Boldin will look to aid Kaepernick to a bounceback season, but undoubtedly he is the deep threat.
5(68): Greg Olsen. Surprised to see him still on the board, so I grabbed him to fill the TE spot. Not a flashy point-getter a la Graham or Gronk, but a reliable scorer week in and week out. Steal imo.
6(93): Philip Rivers. So close.. yet so far. I hoped I would be able to sneak in a Brady here, but it wasn't meant to be. Thus I had to pick my starting QB before that position drops off towards borderline QB 1/2. In hindsight Eli Manning is the better pick here. More favorable bye week, and has a sick receiving core this season.
7(100): Kendall Wright. Bad pick. I was debating whether to pick Alfred Blue here. I really wanted to get him but I really thought he would fall to my next pick. So I had no backup plan, and this is probably one of the worst reaches in the draft. Mike Wallace or DeVante Parker is a better pick here.
8(125): Cardinals DEF. Didn't see a RB or WR I liked, so went and picked a defense with a lot of potential. Aggressive mentality, they will log a lot of good performances.
9(132): Victor Cruz. Once a fantasy beast, now he's been somewhat forgotten after an injury and now in Odell's shadow. Might play him in a flex role if the Giants are facing a team with a shutdown corner, which would lead him to get some more targets.
10(157): Mason Crosby. A round mainly of kickers and defenses flying off the board. Not much to say, picked one with a high octane offense. With the new PAT rules this year, the kicker position might become a crapshoot.
11(164): Marcus Mariota. Need a backup QB and to be honest, why not pick one with upside? There's always a QB that you can pick up on the waiver wire, so if Mariota works out he'll be an asset, if not no big deal.
12(189): Roy Helu. A waiver wire lurker for a couple seasons now iirc. A good passing down back, and with Oakland's clusterfuck situation you never know what role he might be in.
13(196): Jordan Reed. Backup TE. Choice was between him and Antonio Gates, I don't think it mattered too much.
14(221): Dan Herron. Tons of upside IMO. I think he may get goal-line touches, or get the nod if Gore gets a setback. Either way you can't really trust Frank Gore to be 100% healthy and carry a big workload at his age.
15(228): Panthers DEF. Sick front 7. Will need a solid backup DEF since the Cardinals DEF is hit or miss sometimes.
Hope everyone else is pleased with their teams! If not I am always listening to trade offers .

First two rounds are ok although it depends on what players were available at that point. I love Ingram and Abdullah at the position you drafted them, but picking a D that early in 12 teamer is the worst. I also don't see any TE aside from Reed in the last round who has a long history of injuries. JMatt is nice, but Landry is a bit of a reach there. I personally hate the Crabtree pick as I think you could've picked a guy with a lot more upside, somebody like Agholor, Funchess, Perriman if they were available.
Overall I think it's an OKish draft with the exception of te. Solid starters, but you don't have any upside players on the bench. It would've also helped if you posted the whole draft if you could, not just your team.
