2015 Clasica Ciclista San Sebastian

What a disgrace. I guess the TV-motorbikes got bored of doing nothing and crashed into van Avermaet instead.

Probably time for this race to drop down level with the poor coverage comical running over of a rider and general dreadful television coverage we should start to reward races that are able to put on a good show, "strade bianche" though there are plenty of other that could be too

Movistar
Havent seen a bigger disgrace of a race in a long time....

Calm down peeps, its just one mayor fuckup (I guess two in the same race), no need to demote this race. Especially since Spanish cycling needs it badly after +half their calender was removed.

Strade WT? Hell yea, please. The race I enjoy the most out of all 'cobbled' races or whatever surface they ride on.

Demoting the race from the WT will kill it and I agree that the calendar needs a one day WT from Spain, yes the organising has been poor but that has a alot to do with the funding of the race, they have been up against it for a few years now but it doesn't deserve to die just yet. Also on Strade, I don't think it needs to go WT at all, I think the race is building up a good tradition of quality racing and a good mix of teams competing . I can't see how a shift to WT status would be of any benefit to the race

Agreed. The coverage for this race does need to be better though. Its a race I've always looked at as being an important part of the calendar. People are over-reacting about the GVA-Moto incident though. It could happen in any race at any time, to any rider. It was the worst possible moment for it to happen, but I think it actually happens more frequently than we think, just not normally to a rider at the front of the race in a solo breakaway (which you think would be pretty easy to avoid.) It kind of puts an asterisk around this particular edition though.

That is exactly the point. It happened to the most important rider in the race.

Not to mention the other bullshit.

To compare Strade to this race is a joke.

Also the point isnt that Strade should be upgraded to WT to help Strade. It is that the best races in the world should be WT.

Correct but the odds of it happening are so much bigger on this new climb that is way too small for a WT race.

It's not about the climb. Something should be made to protect riders from vehicles on the rode at least on risky parts. I think this happens way too often nowadays than for example 5 years ago. There's enough technological advancement to be able to come up with a solution. Maybe using drones on climbs to prevent motors having impact on attacks and also to avoid accidents. It can't be that hard to have 3-4 drones if you can already have a huge number of motorcycles. These are cyclist ad should be only focued only on the race not where the closest motorbike is!!

Agree on your last point, Movistar. Not to help Strade, but simply because the biggest and best races on the calender should be WT. People should be rewarded more for the victory and I wanna see even more of the best riders from all terrains attempting to win this race.

Maybe he didn't realize there was a rider involved with the crash.
Him being right behind explains why the motorbike was in a rush to get out of there...

Also a question can be, was Greg getting away from Adam or was Adam coming closer?
But one thing is totally clear there need to be done something with the motorbikes. I don't even think the problem are the TV bikes. The other bikes are getting more and more. Officials, Photographers,...
Also when you look at how many crashes we got the last years with CARS involved is insane.

I think Yates was climbing faster but doubt he wouldn't of had much of a gap over GVA once they summited the climb so it's 50/50 if it actually cost GVA the race

Yates would have probably caught GVA only to lose in the sprint I think.
Still great victory for him.
Pozzato sucks!

What a horrible race, I really hope UCI does somehing about the motorbikes accidents. Cutting the amount in half and only allowing drivers with a prfessional licence would be a first good step.

And of course it has to happen to GVA of all people Sad

EDIT/ and now I read about Vanmarcke, WTF?

Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Well, they can cut the amount to half and we can move back to read about the race in papers, or complaining that we dont have live images from all important groups. Grin
I'll be back

actually, I'd love this.
I think I'd be even more excited about this then seeing it on live television. Pfft
But then we'd need a decent sports paper!

It's usualy not the camera guys that are the prbolem, so they can definitely stay. It's the little experience guys in a race because it's in their home coyntry or the photographer going for that one snapshot.

Just look at what happened, the Vanmarcke guy clarly has no idea how to approach a cyclist. If you think it's ok to touch the riders, this is probably your first experience with cycling. The Van Avermaet guy is quite similar, anyone who knows what he's doing, won't pass him on the left there.
