The entire last season of HIMYM was horrible. The finale just somehow made it all worse. |

Favourite series character and why:
Rust Cohle from True Detective, as he is the best acted and written character i have ever seen in the television series. Only first series are done, but Matthew McConaughey is so epic, that i cant pick otherwise.
I don't think McConaughey and Harrelson will be part of season 2. As far as I heard the second season of True Detective will be somethng entirely new again.

Yep, that is what i heard and think too, continuation with them would not make much sense to be honest.
So we will see.
Still instantly my most favourite series ever, both actors have big say in that, together with fantastic camera, screenplay and dialogues.

Yet to watch the final few episodes, but it's not a surprise. Having already revealed in Season 8 who the mother was, how they met, and why they were at the train station everything became really redundant.
Still it had some good moments dotted around, and lets be honest HIMYM has never been that amazing anyway.

I was hoping for a great finale to make up for the last seasons, which were mediocre to bad but, as you said, it was even worse than that. They didn't want to go for the classic cheesy finale and failed big time.
It's clear that they planned this ending from the very start. But, with the way the characters developed over the years, it didn't fit anymore. I don't think they realized that and decided to stick with it.

Who's your favorite series character and why?
There are so many! If I had to decide, it'd probably be a very recent discovery: Jake Peralta from Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It's only been one season but I don't think any other character has made me laught so often.
Oh man B99 is just a fantastic show - truly the standout from a relatively poor year for sitcoms.
Peralta though is just a bit... blegh as a character. Sure, he has some hilarious lines (the constant running joke about the names of Santiago's sex tape for example), but there are so many better characters in that show IMO.
Terry for example, has the dual nature as the super-tough tradition black cop character, combined with the vulnerability of loving his family and being obsessed with dying. Oh and his love of yoghurt. Or Holt, my second favourite character, who is just acted magnificently. The complete dead-pan expressions and the lack of emotion, even while making jokes is hilarious. Like when he explained to Peralta why he sprained his wrist.

you can't say that. Yes the ending wasn't that great but the season had some real gold parts.

I count 2 or 3 good episodes. That's it. Rest were horrible and unfunny. |

I startd watching Brooklyn 99 too now. Incredible show with so much talent and an unbelieveable amount of great jokes and gags. Parks and Rec-Makers are the best when it comes to comedy. Show is pure gold.
Thanks for the recommnedation guys
Holt must be one of the best police characters in history.

(Wow, was surprised to this thread hasn't been used in 9 months.)
I've been sick for like the last 3 days so been watching a lot of Netflix. Came across ESPN 30 for 30: Slaying the Badger. Great documentary (based off the book) about Greg Lemond and Bernard Hinault.
Learned a lot. Must admit that my cycling knowledge pre-2000 is very limited.

Thanks for the Friday Night Lights tip! About halfway thru the first season and I just love it.

I remembered someone mentioning Friday Night Lights on the forum (above) and I came across it on Netflix about three days ago. Let's just say I'm halfway through Season 2.
Season 1 was great, but so far I haven't liked Season 2 as much. But now that I have started it there is no way I'm not finishing it. It hooked me in.

It's common knowledge that season 2 is the weakest season of Friday Night Lights. Still better than most TV shows out there though

Probably my favourite show. Its just so relatable, plus its about football (but not too much about football) and I love all the characters pretty much.

I finished FNL. Well worth the recommendation.
I especially liked the forward moving plot line and being able to build a history/background among the characters. And the fact the show wasnt afraid to be flexible with the cast when certain characters had to leave because their time was up.
Now time to get my family hooked so I can watch it again albeit at a reasonable/slower pace.
Oh, and lastly, where can I find a girl like Aimee Teegarden?

Great movie is Mad Max: Fury Road. The only movie I've ever seen that might've been better than the original.
Some series I like are Sherlock, Arrow, The Flash, Murdoch Mysteries & Breaking Bad. |
