Well deserved 1-2-3, polka-dot, white and team classification for Movisky in the end. They were the best team throughout the whole Tour. Though, they cheated by using 18 riders but who gives a shit. Great one |

Strange that both Giro and Tour went to a single rider followed up by two teammates. Maybe I should bet on a similiar outcome for Vuelta, mhm.. heavy risk, but the prize.

Majka wins the Vuelta, followed by Pozzovivo and Betancur. You heard it here first

Fun fact:
Gesink actually broke a record.
Most consistent rider of Le Tour.
Finished every stage in Top 36 and nobody pulled that off in last 25 years(way I read it nobody else was ever known to achieve it but they said last 25 years so I assume there's no data for it beforehand or something).
Ullrich was the previous holder, finishing every stage in Top 38 of Le Tour '04.
Now this does not mean shit, I realise, but still thought it was funny.

Fun fact 2:
Feltet.dk have kept a score. I, along with Anders Askholt, have taken care of exactly what you mention.
On each stage, Number 1 got 1 point, number 2 got 2 points etc.
We don't have the results after stage 21 yet, but here is after stage 20.

But yes, Gesink won overall. Just think if the overall standings still was decided after points like from 1905 to 1912.

Thats very interesting, but cant be taken very seriously obviously, because if it was decided like that, the race would be raced differently for sure. I can think of times where they all came in a big bunch at the top of a mountain and Valverde f.e. could have sprinted for the extra places and then the flat stages would be contested by GC riders as well, but still cool obviously!

Well we finally got all of the major general classification favourites to complete a race together at the Tour de France in reasonable-ish form, wonder when the sprinters will manage the same. Gotta settle who is the king of the sprinters.
I guess 2013 possibly counts, although that race was certainly marred by accidents and incidents at times. Looking at you for starters Orica - GreenEDGE bus...
Going to be interesting to see where some of the out of contract riders end up, so pretty much the entire Europcar team (). Bryan Coquard with a better lead out train could be a potent force given the number of times I counted the young Frenchman out of contention due to a poor position.
Also, Gesink!

The obligatory post-Tour thoughts and opinions post:
Overall it wasn't a bad Tour de France, and certainly delivered a lot more than the dire route promised, but there wasn't much of a fight for yellow (again), green (again), white and the polka dots were basically won by accident so it wasn't a great Tour for the fights for the jerseys. The first week provided the expected crashfest, and the TTT was a complete and utter waste of time as predicted, but luckily none of the big 4 (5) crashed out in the first week so we got to see our battle royale that we had been expecting. Except we didn't, because of the Pierre-Saint-Martin stage. Now that climb was pretty good racing (albeit slightly depressing) but the GC was pretty much decided after the first stage - taking out van Garderen and Thomas and adding in Nibali after his attack the GC top 5 was the same after the first mountain stage as it was after the last, which points to pretty lacklustre racing afterwards. Indeed the gaps in the top 10 were bigger on the PSM stage than on the supposed queen stage of the Tour...
First week: nice to see the prologue back - first GT prologue since 2012 Tour - and Utrecht provided a good depart. Echelons stage was brilliant, kudos to ASO for designing such a stage, and it delivered with exciting racing and gaps (though not the sort I wanted) among the GC guys. Mur no 1 stage I missed but was apparently quite good, although it is the Mur... Cobbles stage was boring, it was likely to be an anticlimax after the great stage last year, especially with easier cobbles, and it proved so, although it was nice to see Tony Martin get his yellow jersey at last! Then we had a couple of sprint stages - I liked that there weren't many boring flat stages this Tour, although it did make it even easier for Sagan to win green, despite ASO claims that they were making it tougher for him. Mur number 2 was bleh. TTT was a waste of time as described earlier.
Second week: PSM stage already covered, rest of the Pyrenees really really dull - partly due to stage design - no attacks on the Cauterets stage because of Plateau de Beille the next day, and then that was neutralised by the Sky train. GVA vs Sagan stage was a really great finish, enjoyed that one a lot. Mende was pretty good as well but by this point I was getting bored of the uphill finishes. Luckily we had a terribly-designed stage to follow with another fairly predictable sprint. I missed the Gap stage but descending FTW! even though we really need to see the back of Manse for a while. Overall a pretty poor second week, not quite as bad as the second week of 2013 though which, Ventoux aside, was so anaemic even the sprinters got bored.
Third week: Alps this year were pretty good actually. I had expected more GC action on Allos but Geschke's superb win improved the stage. Montvernier stage was poorly designed (yes it's a spectacular climb but it only served to add more flat after Glandon) and saw the appropriate amount of GC action it deserved, and YET ANOTHER breakaway (although Bardet ) I admired Nibbles for his attack on the Croix de Fer and it was certainly an impressive ride, although the stage as a whole was a bit disappointing for the supposed queen stage - having a group of 7 riders roll in together behind Nibali, Froome and Quintana an example of that. Quintana's attack at the end put a bit of time into the others but I wonder what might have happened had he gone earlier - this was perhaps a little symptomatic of Movistar's rather defensive attitude for pretty much the whole Tour. After all, emerging from a Tour as hilly/mountainous as this with a squad containing Valverde and Quintana both in near-peak form and not getting a single stage win is quite an achievement. Alpe d'Huez stage was great - would have been even better if the Movistar duo had managed to get away on the Croix de Fer, and then total chaos would have ensued on the Alpe, but the racing was good enough and Nairito put in a splendid performance. Great ride from Pinot too, he fought really hard.
Bertie was a little disappointing, I mean we expected him not to be at top shape after a very tough Giro but I thought he would end up closer than 10 minutes away from Froome! If he had been in better shape and animated the race more it would have been much better for it. Valverde was impressive, didn't expect him to podium at all at the start of the race, and he attacked throughout, which I was very pleased to see.
Overall, the last two Alps stages, the PSM stage and a few interesting classic-style stages in the first two weeks were good, but the reality was there was not much doubt about who would win all four jerseys after the first mountain stage, and there were some pretty boring stages in there, especially in comparison to the fabulous Giro we had this year, where something seemed to happen every single day. That, combined with the fact that the only time there threatened to be a fight for the yellow jersey was on the penultimate stage, means I shall award it:
6/10
Spoiler Wow that got very long very quickly, apologies if you can't be bothered to read all that
