Le Tour de France 2015 | Stage 19: Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne / La Toussuire
clamel
The roads are filled with mad bikers everywhere.
My thoughts is that it was pure luck he didn't clipped Ryder too.
He will try to forget his shaving for another day and go for glory at Huez !!!!
Banana

It's about time he featured a little more like in the Giro, but he do need his facial hair I'm sure. More vicious looking ....

I'm excited, this is the first stage I've been able to watch live this week.

Hope so.

Today will be a horrible day for the riders. Short stage, a stupid amount of climbing. Feel for the lads in the grupetto.

Maybe a Garmin-Cannondale rider could surprise us today. Dan Martin, Andrew Talansky, Ryder Hesjedal etc. They are all strong enough but never win.Frown

Talansky should be cooked after being out on the attack over the last 2 stages, Martin isn't looking great so that only leaves Ryder who just won't win a stage at this race

Barguil to possibly make a break to get time back on Bardet? Few seconds difference so it's a great chance for a top 10 as Bardet will be tired after winning the previous stage? I would.Cool

He looked cooked yesterday though.

Odds on Purito today? Should be chasing after the mountain jersey so will almost certainly be in the break.

I think he'll try but looks short of top form to win the jersey. Think that will probably go to Froome, unfortunately - it'd be nice to have a seperate battle rewarded with a win.

He should be in the break seeing as the climb straight from the gun today, I wonder how serious Bardet and AG2R will take the KOM comp, they have enough climbers there to send up the road if Purito goes to make it interesting at least.
As for Barguil even if he does get in a break he won't hold it, I think the fact he is still around the top 10 is a great effort from him so just holding onto the main GC group should be his goal, he looked tired yesterday and did a great job to get back on after the final climb

Agree. Though I recon he won't get many points due to his efforts to get in the break regularly. It will go to Froome when he wins up Alp d'Huez. Day will go to Majka I think.

Just reading Nibali's piece on cyclingnews - he could be a good punt for a stage win today. It really does depend how much rope a break gets before the Croix de Fer.

Have this strange premonition that someone like Stybar could surprise us by going in the break today and doing well. Just because I want cobblers cannot climb brigade to shut up! Pfft

Yesterday Contador had "one of his worst days ever" on a bike, presumably because of the crash from the day before, and he still was good and in aggressive attacking mood. A stage win either today or tomorrow would make at least for a bittersweet end to his Tour.

Highly unlikely given the fact than his team is yet to develop a solid marginal gains system.

I think it will end up like the end of the 2011 Tour, he will go for it on the stage to the Alpe but get beaten to the line, he might go for it today if he finds himself in the right position but I think he would really want the Alpe stage

Yes, I agree with you and it may end up breaking my heart if he gets beat again. He's never been much of a stage winner but I think Alpe d'Huez would be special to him, especially because of his near-miss 2011, and because it's simply you know Alpe d'Huez, the Champs Elysees of climbers.

Movistar will control the final km's to give Quintana a stage victory. Nibali and contador will be spat out the back after they try to escape leavin Froome vs Quintana fist fight. Thomas will try and gain time on Valverde and succeed. Stage win by either Quintana or Froome. Not sure which one though...Grin

ianrussell
Is that intentional complete mis-pronunciation of Quintana and Valverde's names by Dave Brailsford on Eurosport? That's in the same league as Kirby and Liggett otherwise...
