Impressive by Ignatiev, Avin must be dancing when he reads this
Denifl safely in the pack not using any more strenght than he needs. I find it kind of scary that only Brändle was with him though. Hopefully means Mai and others are saving strenght for coming stages. Claeys loosing time is good, I want some attacks from him
Shame for Cunego, but kinda fitting in a bizarre way, the old champion showing that he is not what he once was. Hopefully he takes a stage (while finishing behind Denifl) during the race

Metinsanest, two huge days for that team and what a perfect start
Shame about Cunego tho.

Yeah too lumpy at end there for Guerao but nice try by the red bull lot. Just hope we can do better when things are flatter.
Ignatiev now should hold that jersey for a bit good work by metinvest what a start. Madrazo looks up for this.

Stauff, it' s not the best way to suceed when you fight for position behind rear wheel of sluggish Spanish sprinter
I' m starting to worry Avin will fall in love with PCM14 soon.

Ruben Fernandez and Parra Bustamante losing time isn't horrible because it could mean they will join the breakaway.

Some very strange things here. I can't be unhappy with my two guys in top 10 on the stage, though, and for once Ricco didn't fuck up big time.
Too bad about Cunego though. That was really bad luck with the puncture, and also weird that the top puncheurs couldn't fight back on this terrain.
Amazing start for Metinvest who are really charging in the overall standings at the moment.

A preview of what's to come for CT teams on Stage 2, with repeated loops of the final circuit making up the Acropolis Cup.
Kinda disappointing to see the game not give Ponzi a real chance, he should have been all over that.
Going to be a close fight between Schleck and Madrazo, and the Spaniard is edging it for now. Good to see that Kirsch avoided time loss, and is now 2nd in the U25 competition. I guess he might be able to do pretty well in that competition all race, perhaps Pinot is the favourite there?

I imagine the fact that the stage was flat rated meant that the top puncheurs weren't riding for themselves. Either the GC team leader, or as in Red Bull's case, the sprinter, had priority.

Giro kicks-off already on stage 2, obviously a lot of nerves in the bunch. As others, shame to see Cunego lose time unexpectedly so early, and congrats to Metinvest on 2nd stage in a row performance.
Nice report Roturn, video particularly appreciated - the likes of Schleck look rocket propelled for a few seconds in it before the 'juice' runs out! . Seriously high cadence going on. Aiming for a job in radio commentary - just call me Laurent.

Shame for Cunego, will enable him to be aggressive in the mountains
Metinvest won't get the next stage, as it's proof for my season, that one team can't win 3 stages in a row in PCM14

Nice stage 2 for my team, was great to see 3 my riders present in the final sprint... Only too bad they did not make a train for Vesely. Still 4th place is a nice start of his first GT ever when he can sprint for his own results. Velits absolutely safely in the pack too, good start. Congrats to Avin again, what a start for his team! Good start for Madrazo too. Oh and the news that Cunego lost more than 2 minutes are good for us, but I hate to see GT guys losing time on close-to-flat stage. Thanks for a nice report again, really appreciate the video from the final sprint.

A pity Cunego lost time there. Guldhammer might have been the guy provoking it with his attacks. Very happy to see him try to make the most of the opportunity the route presented, eventhough it ended with extra energy lost, but I take it as a good sign for what is to come.
Congratulations again to Avin! Obviously an incredible start for Metinvest, and they must suddenly like their chances of holding the jersey until the first mountain stage, which would be quite something. |

Wow congrats Avin, great start to the Giro for you. Bummer for Cunego though, that hurts to lose that kind of time so early.

Bah that was sluggish from whole team and Guerao. Good for Greece though they have their stage winner.
The two whiners have stage wins at the giro.
Right then if you can't beat them join them.
Fucking PCM ruining everything goddamn daily form I hate it, I hate myself I hate the world why oh why me goddamn cyanide you ruin my life I hate you.... now skidpants and gear ratio win ffs win!

Very nice to see another video from a sprint stage, roturn, thanks!
It actually looked like Goss was stronger than Tzortzakis in the sprint, but Coquard's brilliant leadout was decisive. If Festina are able to organize something similar and launch Coquard's leadout from the front on other sprint stages, Tzortzakis could very well have an amazing Giro.
Congratulations to SotD, must be cool to see one of your Greek riders claim a GT stage win
Good to see Guldhammer place himself close to the front in the sprints, at least that should mean he's counted as a GC rider and not a stage hunter by the AI, which is good, as I'm excited to see what he can do when the mountains come.
But first what looks like a challenging hilly stage. As said earlier, I fancy Ignatiev to keep the jersey, but on the other hand one big attack from Cunego, Ricco, Ponzi or other great puncheurs could see him in trouble. |
