So is there anyway to get highlights of these stages? Or at least maybe a stream of one of the upcoming ones. the race looks fantastic and watching up and coming talent is always fun. |

The breakaway got a generous lead from the favourites. Mamykin was the strongest and took the stage and the lead in the GC. The group of favourites stayed together at 3 and a half minute.
In Portugal the Volta a Portugal do Futuro (2.2U) is ridden. I don't know many of the names but it shows some insight in the current Spanish and Portuguese u23 scene.
Stage 2 ended on a mountaintop finish.

Yesterday's stage is won by Kamna. Power retakes the leader's jersey.
Today's stage is won by Koen Bouwman. Power wins the GC.
In Portugal Julen Amezqueta increases his GC lead, yesterday. Carvalho won the stage on a mountaintop finish.

Australia was never gonna be strong enough anymore to pull a good group back in again.
Haig pulling Power to the GC win. Orica proved with the Yates bros that they can develop young talent very quickly, will be fascinating to follow these two.
Kämna 5th best from the peloton, which is really impressive after his efforts yesterday and considering this is among the most brutal stages you'll find in the U23 calendar. You can't do well on such a stage relying on rouleur abilities like he could yesterday.
Frankiny used Australia's weakness to get as far up as 4th in the final GC through this break, Mamykin DNF'd today.
No further surprises in the Top 5, the first three here are probably the best U23 climbers in the world, besides Mühlberger and Haig maybe.
Kämna in 11th after losing a lot in stage 1, but who cares about the GC if you have a stage win and a 2nd place, plus today's result.
About Lennard's win yesterday, he got into a nice break together with Herklotz who pulled for him early, and then he just attacked with 30km to go and destroyed everyone on the hilly terrain (and that included Ravasi who was 4th overall here last year).
He even gained a minute over the best from the peloton from where he attacked to the finish.

Last stage of the u23 Volta a Portugal. Finish on a small hill. Amezqueta finished 2nd and wins the GC.

What kind of rider is he, he seems to have some solid punch when I look up google images. Comparable to Ulissi? May even have the instinct for the pavé (RvV Juniors 2nd), although those kind of races are hardly indicative of future talent, as I've heard.

Hard to say, I can only judge from his results.
His best results are
1st 2014 Piccolo Giro Lombardia (beat Dylan Teuns in a sprint-a-deux)
1st 2015 Tr. Città di San Vendemiano (beat Nardelli and Power in a sprint)
1st 2015 Italian u23 National Championships RR (probably a sprint)
1st 2015 Coppa dei Laghi (sprint with 9 riders)
2nd 2015 RVV u23 (beaten by Edmondson in sprint-a-deux)
2nd 2014 GP Capodarco (finished solo 8" behind Power)
4th 2015 Trofeo PIVA (2nd in group of 12 riders sprinting for 3rd)
5th 2015 GC Course de la Paix (hilly stagerace, 16" behind Mühlberger)
5th 2014 Gran Premio Sportivi di Poggiana (finished 3rd in a group of 12 sprinting for 3rd place)
It would seem he's fast (but not unbeatable) and he can handle tough (hilly) courses like Lombardia and RVV and the Italian u23 races. I'd say he a sprinter/puncher type (like a lot of Italian cyclists). |

Yeah. No new Ricco, no new Killer, no new Bettini. Italian cycling is definatly on a downfall
But the Italians had such an immensely big talent pool these last 20 years.

Bonifazio 170 points ahead of Ewan and Benoot in the PCS ranking for U23 so far. I follow Bonifazio on Strava, he's training on quite some slopes; MSR win next year will be a sure thing & done deal Anyway, Lampre youngsters doing really great so far, since Conti is also in 5th.

Steven Lammertink takes the European U23 ITT.
Zmorka(UKR) 2nd on 3 secs and Schachmann(GER) 3rd on 15 secs.
Pretty happy about this.
Steven will ride for Lotto - Jumbo next year, by the way.
Zmorka has never really stood out for me and is the oldest of the 3, but still nice to see some Ukrainian talent there.
No PCS result yet it seems.

Funny bit about Ukraine there, with no Zmorka and whole "ISD lineup". I will follow them in this race and i am interested in what especially Budyak can do, looks like a nice talent.
