Steady start from Nutresa, only 1 rider losing time in the crosswinds on stage 1 is acceptable. Hope to see more of Van Zandbeek in the stage 2 'prologue'. Stage 3, we have many riders Mtn 74-77; hopefully 1 will infiltrate the break. Another opportunity for Talansky to finally get out of the right side of the bed for once. Think the stage should better suit him, so fingers crossed he can actually get his season going. Still limited overall hopes given the scary start-list, top 12 would be a decent return. Maybe a decent performance in the team comp reflecting depth something I'll also be on the lookout for at the end of this race.
Can you believe it's almost the end of March? Awesome work from the reporters!

I have been looking forward to this race for a while now, Should suit Brajko quite well and I expect atleast a top 5 again from the lad.
The first stage went as expected I must admit now. Though seeing Guillén on Keuke's wheel got my hopes up for a bit. Not only did Bpost massively dominate the first stage, but VdB gaining valuable bonis, and I have a feeling this is a sign of better things to come for the belgian.

Ooooh Garby finished in the peloton. Time for +5 days on the TT and mtns, where he will claim his top 20 in the U25 classification.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

Ok, Van den Broeck 2nd? What? Lol... Surely there is a rule against that, isn't it?
Ok, now onto serious business: Machado you know you can come penultimate in GC, just as long as you finish ahead of Conti! 2 times are more than enough!

yay we made the short lived break can't tell who it was but my guess is Mundle judging by the size of the rider.

Top 50 for Krasnoperov, Kononenko with a good effort and Topchanyuk may just have lost enough time to be allowed to go in the break and win the stage, and possibly the GC. Pretty decent, but 0 points.

How did Chavanne manage to lose 40 seconds? I thought he was better at prologues than that, unless the TT stat counted more.
if we want to get anything out of this race then we will need to be present in the break tomorrow and either go for the KOM jersey or hope it goes to the finish/ gets caught only by the favourites and not the first big group.

I think that is Stoenchev's best ever TT result (in regular season races). He's slowly, very slowly, becoming an almost half decent time trialist. Another season or two and he can finally challenge Mihaylov for that Bul NC. But not much else, he's not that good
Hoping for Petar to do his usual battling and gritty riding on the final stage to try and dig out a good stage result. Time to turn this season around!

Nothing from the team in stages 1 and 2. Hoping to make plenty of the highlights on the big stage, otherwise it will be around virtually 10 stages with the team doing nothing.
Well done to BPost, so far, must be said. |

What a TT by JB!!
First of the GC-contenders is more than I could've hoped for!!
Now, put him to put in a solid effort on the final stage... Please!

Nutresa still not showing much, but bubbling along below the radar. All hangs on the final queen stage now!

Wow Bpost really taking everything they can here! Very dominant couple of stages for them.
Good to see Oliveira doing so well too, but hopefully Machado is still the leader of the team for tomorrow.
Anyway Brajko looks to have enjoyed this stage and if things go stagnant tomorrow he can see himself as a potential winner. On the other side Keizer did really fail today. He should have been right there with Janez, or possibly even better. roturn should be disappointed, but I think he didn't realise that Keizer has become more of a pure climber this year

Dumoulin with the best result ever in his career I guess. Also the strongest of my 3 top time trialists...which is shit.
Schädlich as 5th just about where he was expected. A bit too low I guess.
Keizer though...yeah...what happened there? Really have no idea and this should never happen. The expected top5 goal is becoming hard now as I had hopes to be in yellow for the leader stage. Now he is 14th and worst case would be if he waits for Dumoulin/Schädlich. |

Can we just cancel all the other races and play this one overnand over until the season ends? Everyone okay with that?
Thanks for the reports.

Stage 1 was alright, nice to see Moinard in the breakaway.
The TT was a disaster as expected.
Need a big mid stage attack from Arroyo on the final stage to get something from this race.

Thanks god Keizer ended in top5 GC after his horribly TT. So goal succeeded. Still not the most ideal performance by him despite finishing on the expected GC.
Aru 2nd in Youth and 1st in Team rankings adds some nice extra points.
That said, had hoped for a bit more by Aru/Olivier GC wise. Though I liked Olivier`s attack even though he somehow got dropped early then.
Dumoulin with a nice sign as well while Schädlich is still missing the big result yet.
Nothing to say about my sprinter performances once more...
This race should help me to climb in the rankings though and 2/3 goals reached so far.
Thanks for the reports, tsmoha. |
