Le Tour de France 2015 | Stage 12, Lannemezan - Plateau de Beille
Smowz
What an earth is the fuss about Thomas?

You know I suspect if Nibali, Froome, Valverde wanted they could go for Paris roubaix instead of riding basque/Tirrano/Romandie/Ardennes whatever and they would do strong top 10 rides. In fact if a guy like kwaitek, stybar wanted too they could climb up with favoured riders, if they put mind too it.

Honestly did anyone see Paris nice, tour de Suisse this year Thomas was right there with the better riders on gc he nearly won Suisse.

Nah once again forget it Smowz these blinkered morons just see what they want putting as said by someone else 2 and 2 together to make 5apparently Thomas is lard sprinter power type who has no business riding with their clean favourites on mountains.

Also I guess I am biased I am not huge Froome or Porte fan but I am a mark for G, having spoken to the guy on a number of occasions and followed his career closely. He has a great number of high class results both in classics and stage races, I strongly doubt he will stick in top five or even top ten in this years race.

Also those sitting with stopwatches playing w/kg game ultra frustrated with inconvenient other variables such as air resistence, race situation and daily sensations.

In fact has anyone even bothered posting such data here today? Nah lets cherry pick data as and when to suit my own opinion.

Dude you're crazy there's no way that Thomas in a single mountain Stage would lose 8 min to Quintana. If you says GVA or Stybby losing that much time on stage 11 of Vuelta I Would agree with you. Quintana is already struggling in this tour and you think he can put that much time to a Thomas that has been so consistent? No way

Serious?

Quintana rode with ease today, sure he couldnt drop Froome but nobody can. Do you understand the difference between 10% and 20% on a climb? Clearly not.

You can think whatever you want but once you crack you crack on a stage like the Vuelta's this year.

So he made your pants wet and you cant comprehend logic? Name a rider that didnt juice that has done what he has done? Shit his season is harder to argue for than anything Froome/Wiggins have every done.

Yes he is a more talented athlete than Froome.

Wiggins 2012 is a joke but he won the things he trained for. He didnt throw himself into a major classic and win that as well as being the strongest rider in the tour.

Thomas is honestly the most suspicious rider we have ever seen based on his season results.

If you think that means anything you might want to look at the people above..... Taking shit out of context to try and prove whatever bullshit agenda you have is fine until people smarter than you tell you about it.

I explicitly did not add any opinion to my post.
I just wanted to leave this list out there for everyone and so Smowz can't say we're 'hiding' today's data.

Feel free to draw your own conclusions or none at all.

Thing about the Tour de France is it is possibly the best Grand Tour for using a mountain train and tempo riding due to a few factors. Although Astana did a pretty good job, contrary to Team Sky's usual efforts, of dragging each other up the Giro's climbs in similarly "WTF" numbers.

Without getting in to power-to-weight ratios up steeper gradients, the higher the gradient the more negligible the drafting effect becomes. While the more inconsistent the slope the more you have to keep adjusting your gears to match your effort and tempo to the terrain, and changing from something like 9% grade up to 20% grade or the reverse is especially a pain.

Team Sky's prioritising of 'Le Tour' doesn't help matters but you often see the big favourites more isolated and mano-el-mano at the business end of mountain stages at the Giro and Vuelta.

Ya keep telling yourself that with the way you posted things. Why not just post with Valverde 17th fastest today?

Keep up the scam though.

I dont care what your agenda is but you obviously have one so just admit it like a normal person.

Would you have been able to keep a straight face if at the start of the season I had told you that Geraint Thomas was going to beat Lance Armstrong's time up the Plateau de Beille, despite poor weather conditions, a confirmed headwind, and coming off the back of three hard days' racing in the Pyrenees?

interesting to see that despite all the innovations made in regards to bike weights, aerodynamics, training schedules and the likes and still they only managed the match Armstrongs and Basso's time. must mean that 1) I have underestimated the effect of bad weather 2) the climb wasn't ridden at a good pace (but seeing the race, that seem unlikely) 3) today's peloton is much weaker than just a few years ago, only a minute faster than Vanendert in 2011 and unless I'm mistaken, that was from a breakaway victory

Vanendert's win was from an attack midway through the climb IIRC.

Perfectly summing it up. I dont even know who is the most obvious doper of Porte, Wiggo and Froome anymore when Geraint Thomas climbed Beille at 75 kg or whatever bullshit healthy smoothie brailsford wheight he showed up on as fast as the others guys, pulling in a frickin headwind.

Just delete him. I dont care, I would much rather watch Froome instead of listening to the disgusting, borderline dumb praise of Thomas of the commentators and experts. Gimme Froome smashing every w/Kg anytime over this disgrace of a cobbled and track rider

Agreed about Vanendert and Gilbert being on the good stuff in 2011, neither of them have performed unto that standard again.

I'm sorry but it does mean something, it's not cherry picking dodgy data to suit an argument. The main group yesterday climbed that beast in 45.31 (1 second faster for Valverde) on very wet roads with a headwind, that is ridiculously fast for those conditions and it was such a large group aswell which makes it even more of a joke. If it was dry and without the headwind they go under 45 which would put them in some very infamous company.
