Not expecting much with that finish. Even if people drop on the Tourmalet they may be able to come back in, particularly given that this seems the best way to make up time on Froome.

I am calling a mid stage break today from some guys who lost time yesterday. Martin or someone like that. Probably a good last climb for him.

I looked up the stage profiles on the coming days; is ASO serious with this? During the week they give us all those great mountain stages and on the weekend we get ZERO of them. That's some proper shit planning by ASO if I ever seen one. Really bad. Bad bad bad.

Tejay ended up pulling his group and the others were allowed to attack from him at the end. I hope he will stick around longer and that he can fight for the 3rd place Smile

Just not Froome and I'm happy.

Could see some good attacks today, maybe Rodriguez or Vuillermoiz are up there.

I predict by the end of the tour that the guy leading the GC will gift stages to Porte and Thomas. Adding insult to injury, Thomas will win the queen stage.

Maybe we'll see a crazy downhill attack? I doubt that actually. I don't really think the guy leading will really let anyone go and will chase everything.

Now we have four riders in breakaway - Boasson Hagen, Kwiato, Jungels and Westra. Interesing riders, is not it? Pfft

I'm very excited to see what Jacob Birdsong can accomplish now that he is the team leader. Has he been a leader in a week-long race or more before?

Correction: His name is Jakob Pfft

I can remember in 2013 where he was captain in TDF, he finished 7th.

Many times. He has had some very good Dauphines, and has been very decent throughout this season, right from the beginning with good secondary placings. As DiCyc said, he was captain in 2013 and was fighting for Mochema and the dutch armada for 7th, but unfortunately fell too short.

Reported in best condition this year, has lost some weight and was riding formidable at Pierre Martin, but was shepherding Nibz for the first 7 kilometres - was let go and finished around 3 minutes down which in terms means he climbed the last 8 kilometres 30 secs slower than Froome. #DanishHype

The race split up on the small cat.3 climb, with Nerz already dropped and Buchmann accompanying him (for whatever reason...), Greipel is back too as well as probably Degenkolb after a mechanical, so Sagan in prime position to pretty much end the fight already with the full 20 points on offer Rolling Eyes

Seems like they made it back, but spent a bit too much energy.

How possible/likely is podium in your opinion for Valv? I'm slightly optimistic since he seems to ride himself into shape well so far. On the other hand, he has to be domestique to Q, but then again, the little guy is likely to finish 2nd with or without Valv's help.

Well, the hype of Nerz by roturn (and you?) for this upcoming race, speaking about top-15 and even top-10 proves pretty... optimistic. He is nothing more than mediocre GT-rider, oh well.

Nerz from Bora has abandoned.

Dat 2agan life. Drops Greipel and Cav still comes 2nd

I didn't hype Nerz for the last two years or so, he's actually getting worse instead of better imo.
Which is why I pointed out Buchmann (or anyone for that matter) waiting for him, as I find that pretty pointless.

Did I really hype Nerz a lot?

Can`t think about I have written more than 1 or 2 posts about him to be honest.

He was 21st after yesterdays stage and only thing I once said, that a 15th in the Tour would be doable for him when being in perfect form.

Don`t think this is hype really.

Nevermind. He just abandoned, so we won`t know anyway.

There's a difference in my opinion between hype and hoping for someone to do well. Buchmann looked better (literally too because that german jersey from Bora is great looking btw.) than Nerz yesterday though.

I think it depends a lot on Contador. If he continues this trend or only gets slightly better, I think its very possible actually. I dont fear Tejay, he will somewhat bonk one day I feel and doesnt have a long ITT to rely on. Gallopin cant keep this up, while Thomas sholdnt either. Gesink? I have no clue, only time will tell.

Valv has stated a few times before (can always read the reactions on movistarteam) that he wasnt 100% going into the Tour, but said before the mountains that he felt that he almost was at 100% which is good. And honestly, honestly, I dont expect Valv to 'help' Quintana much more than yesterday. And as I have said before, I dont really blame him. He will foreva be my favorite. <3 But to answer your question: Good, but not as good as 2014 where he also messed it up.
