Very promising, and I wonder if Bora will continue to use him for that or if he'll be allowed to make his own experiences at some point, maybe even in one of those big breaks in the second half of the race. A Top 25 for Nerz isn't exactly worth sacrificing TV time for.
He's still pretty young isn't he? It would be good to see the German national champs jersey in a break

Gesink showed today why he is such a promising upcoming talent.

Yep they only had him marked as a Domestique and not even a A squad Dom at that, he was already looking for a new team after what can only be described as a woeful 2011 then the Vuelta happened literally from nowhere. Only after that result did we start to hear stories about his mystery tropical illness and that treatment had meant he could perform so well. Funny how nothing was said about it before the Vuelta 2nd place came along

From the ASO's perspective they will be hoping it doesn't continue like this all the way to Paris. From the figures I've seen a lopsided one man domination often doesn't rate as highly as a closer contest for the Maillot Jaune, more so if it occurs back to back.
Unless maybe it were French...

Half of the posts on this forum are just pathetic. I'd like to hear the reaction to a guy like Merckx. Yes, cycling has changed a lot, but if there is no evidence, it is pretty unreasonable to spend all of your time speculating about doping. A good performance does not equal drugs. Especially a good performance from sky, the team which spends money on just about every variable. I wish this forum could just grow up.
Spoiler I'm not saying sky is clean, but without evidence, how can we spend some much time talking about doping?
Completely agree with you. |

Astonoshing to see Porte in one week races as leader and the GT's when Froome is captain contra Tour 2014 and Giro 2015 where he is the captain. Whatever it is that plagues Im, he should try to fix that (not that not already has) He has shown time and time again he is one of the absolute best climbers in the peloton - too much pressure, because it sure as hell doesnt seem like he has REC problems? Thinking Tour 2013 again, when he was very good in the last week, but had one bonk after Ax-3 tho. Coupled that with his ITT and you have the type of rider who should have at least two GT's in the end of his career. He also seems to be a rider who is capable of somewhat being in peakshape (well, much like the Thomas, Wiggins and Froome...) throughout a year.
I guess the two next stages (especially Beille) will tell a lot more about him.

Personally I enjoyed the stage. Even though it's boring with sky domination I though it was quite interesting with riders like Gallopin and the MTN guys. For me the selection on big mountain stages in GT is some of the best, seeing favorites fall back and etc. Great to see the Valverde, Quintana combo and im happy for Robert Gesink, he deserves it! |

Yup, some of the most interesting is to see how riders such like Gallo performs and who can and can't. I love first mountain stages, especially when ridden like this. |

You agree with a post telling the forum should grow up then say people are whining like little girl, how does that work?

No, but because you whine about it like a little girl. Froome is an arrogant, antipatic and a doped rider. He thinks he is God of cycling.
The other riders of Sky also look like that.the team thinks they are the God of cycling. And always speaking about how clean they are when it is so obvious that they are doping.
So I don't like them winning.Just because I write 'Fuck this shit'when Sky wins doesn't mean I am whining like a little girl |

Well first of all, I think that the Tour is over, no one is going to claw back 3+ minutes on Froome, he is just too good and has too strong of a team. I look forward to seeing the breakaways from here on out!
Tomorrow would be great to see guys like Buchmann, Dani Navarro, Voeckler, Taaramae (although he is back on his bum form), and maybe even Pinot take to the break and really light up the stage because I fully believe that the break is going to go the distance tomorrow.
My 2 cents about today, Gesink will finish on the podium, he is looking phenomenal I was shouting at the TV for him to win, just to shake it up, and see someone new, and because I feel for him after everything that has happened this year, would love to see him take this form to the Vuelta!
Also, a huge shout to Eduardo Sepulveda, what a great ride he had today! I have always loved this guy's potential, he really has no ceiling. I have no doubt he'll be leading a WorldTour team in the Giro or Vuelta within the next 2 seasons, although I am disappointed for Bretagne's sake that they will lose him! I expect to see him in the Top 20 before the race is done |
