It was nice to share a podium with you. Congrats on your sprint. Can't say I wish you had won, though, but it's so great you came second to Richeze Grin

Benelux Challenge
Goal secured & lots of points

As one of our target races and with a Top 5 goal here, Benelux Challenge was set to be an early highlight of our season and also a first representation of how we might be doing in this season. After some stages throughout the Benelux states, we certainly wouldn't mind a season full of so many heights! At the end of the race, we had racked up quite a nice point tally (at least we hope so), and have secured our goal of the Top 5 place. Furthermore, despite some bad luck here and there where we missed out on the stage win, South African man Christiaan Kriek was part of the BOTD on the last day of racing and got us the highly desired debut win; successfully allowing us to cross this objective out too, now.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/Benelux/mg2015_benelux_06_PCM0631.jpg

Christiaan Kriek taking a stage win on the last stage, was a fitting conclusion to this our race. As a one of the dominating teams of the Challenge, Strava has won the teams classification and has been at the forefront with multiple riders throughout the race, most notably Favilli and Langeveld. But also Tulik and Selvaggi have been particularly strong, keeping themselves within the Top 20 and finishing on strong 17th & 18th place.

Easily our Top 5 goal was secured by Favilli finishing 3rd overall, Langeveld following in 6th. Marc De Maar (Carlsberg) won the overall race ahead of Rudy Molard of Generali. The 6 stages long race saw us in some prime conditions; starting off with a solid prologue by Tennant who finished 5th back then, Einsle grabbing the KoM jersey for a day, or Favilli finishing 2nd on a slightly hilly stage in the sprint, losing out only to Kuboki. Langeveld put in a notable performance on the key cobbled/hill stage, where he came to the finish in as 2nd a few seconds ahead of his GC opponents, Favilli within the group as well. Unfortunately, a breakaway rider took the stage win, it could have been otherwise the perfect day for Strava. This way, Langeveld remained at the same time with race leader Kruopis.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/Benelux/mg2015_benelux_05_PCM0533.jpg

On the 5th day of racing, De Maar put in a particularly strong showcase on the toughest hilly stage, only to be matched by Molard. Favilli got a 3rd place there in the sprint, fulfilling his podium ambitions.

GP Kigali

Following our performance at Benelux Challenge, we had some hopes to at least score some points against the big boys. Tulik, who finished 3rd in the former races' youth ranking and within the Top 20, profited from his early season leg and got himself into the breakaway as a result. Meanwhile, the rest of the team was eager to provide Langeveld with some support over the many cobblestones and hills, in order for him to be the most fresh possible in the finale.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PCT/Kigali/MG15_Kigali_012.jpg

When Summerhill & Co. turned up the engine, Langeveld was there to follow. Much only for so long. When the breakaway was caught, Summerhill soon set out on his own and from there on, it was a wild goose chase. Langeveld notably struggled at some point, though managed to hang on with Group Boonen in the end. Another rider was part of this group as wel; Angelo Tulik. Our young french puncheur played it cool in the finale and used his great sprinting legs to snatch the 9th place away from Tom Boonen himself, providing us with some nice points this race as Langeveld finished 12th.

Two very nice races most recently. Langeveld is one of those nicely consistent riders, I guess. Probably won't grab too many victories, but still making for a nice income of points. Of course Tulik eventually made your race in Kigali though: pretty surprised to see him surviving alongside those mid-stage attackers/favorites to finish it off ahead of Boonen! Lucky result (as all those chasing groups hadn't much left to sprint), but still nice for Strava Wink

Tulik getting 9th was more than lucky indeed, though I had actually hoped for a bigger calibre in the BOTD like Dupont or De Backer. Langeveld is really very consistent, hope he will grab a win next in Geraadsbergen tho. Smile

Awesome race for a CT team. Didn't expected you to score more points there as my team : Well done!

Would have preferred to see Dupont in that break as well but he'll ( hopefully) get some more chances throughout the season.

Langeveld prevails: Victory in Bosberg

We had our fair share of expecations ahead of this season and although Geraardsbergen - Bosberg was chosen in a second instance not as our goal, the race was always going to be an early highlight for our main northern specialist: Sebastian Langeveld.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/profiles/c2hc/gebo.png

The dutch was able to keep calm under the pressure of being the clear-announced favourite and took an impressive classic win, ahead of De Maar, who is quickly turning into Strava's one-man army nemesis. The race was suited to Langeveld perfectly with its combination of pavé and hills. On one side, it got rid of some top-notch cobblers like Taillefour, whilst hill specialists had their fair share of pain inflichted on them on the pavé. With his great stamina, Langeveld was of course happy with each kilometer in the final, allowing him to get time on the third rider of up to 2 minutes.

i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj521/Jihardy/2015-06-08_00030_zpsdwoevxiu.jpg

On the way to victory, Langeveld's support was sure to maintain a good pace in order to not let the BOTD get too far away. Unforunately already with 100 kms out, the first outsider attacks happened and other teams took over the chasing. The race got more intense and we would have liked to have kept things on a tigher leash. Langeveld went with some guys at some point to reel back in De Maar and Lindeman who escaped earlier.

At 33 kilometers left, Langeveld was in a group alone with some big names, totalling the size at 15 men. No other strava rider was present, which was a shame, but Langeveld has learned recently of Danny Summerhill from Azteca that attack is a viable option, and just like the super northern specialist from the Americas, he just went on to do his things and never looked back... or, hardly ever looked back.

De Maar was always close to him and didn't allow Seb to take a rest. This turned into a strong 1 vs 1 on the last 5 kilometers, in which Langeveld prevailed ultimately.

You could say that Langeveld is indeed the Boss... of Bosberg.

Strava keeps getting these results. Not sure how they are doing it but once again : Congrats!

This time Langeveld was top favourite bit he still had to end it properly after the leaders are getting isolated so early.

Yes, this had me worried a bit when I read it during the report. Why sign top-helpers then not use them sigh Especially since it worked out great in the stage of the similiar profile of Benelux Challenge. But well, not every race is the same. And De Backer and Selvaggi could have top ten'd with some luck, but alas...

Glad the cobbled focus works out so far. Thanks for posting so much in this HQ! Grin

Thanks Ian, already eager to see Corioni prove himself against Richiecheezy again though. Cool

GP Sallanches

Without Favilli, but a nice climbing depth, Strava took on the first real hilly classic of the season for us. Belmokthar, the Algerian Workhorse of Constant Climbing Pace with little to no acceleration possibilietes, was the pro forma-captain, however we have had hopes that one of the other guys like Einsle, Tulik or Pfingsten may perform by BOTD ways as well.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/Sallanches/MG15_Salla_008.jpg

Unfortunately, none of us was featured in the breakaway. So very little screen time for the local tv stations. However, it was bound to come down to a fight on the last hill, the uphill finish was there hard contested. Vastarant claimed the win ahead of Top 10 dominating Netia with Zeits and Vastaranta's teammate from DeLaval, Podiumer Anacona.

Belmokthar did us proud nonetheless, a strong finish saw him stay in the group full of Chiquitas and Netia..s. In the sprint, he almost made Top 5 and so finished on 6th. 30 seconds behind Vastaranta. A strong showing form our Algerian signing.

Sebastien Einsle completes the nice team showing here with a 15th place, snatching some more points after his KoM adventure in Benelux Challenge.

This conclused the February racing for the team; notably Strava has had accomplished a Top 10 overall in all its races so far; frankly, this is a start that we are very proud of and we hope things will continue this way.

The Top 10 run will most likely end as it is bound to unfortuantely but I have hopes for a stage win with the likes of Tennant, Dupont & Belmokthar present. Let's see what they can do. Cool
