Rudy Molard made a brave attempt to get in the break but couldn't make it. The team had a quiet time with 66th the best we could manage.

Stage 4

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Pcmdaily%20EPIC/Tropicale/Tropicale%20stage%204_zpskvzqdleh.jpg

Rudy Molard again got in the break but it was closed down with 80km to go. With 70km to go Anthony Geslin made a brave solo attack and managed to pick up enough KOM points to lead that competition.

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Pcmdaily%20EPIC/Tropicale/stage%204/Gabon%20stage%204%20p5_zpsotpquwxv.jpg

With 10km Geslin had a 1' 45" lead over the peloton but sadly it was not enough getting caught an agonising 300m from the line and finishing in 6th place, what a brave effort.

Stage 5

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Pcmdaily%20EPIC/Tropicale/Tropicale%20stage%205_zpscqznr3hv.jpg

Anthony Geslin was on the attack again today trying to defend his KOM jersey.

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Pcmdaily%20EPIC/Tropicale/stage%205/Gabon%20stage%205%20p2_zpsmszg1tnb.jpg

Anthony was not able to compete for the first KOM points and only managed 3rd for 1 point in the second KOM sprint, but that was enough to retain the jersey for another day.
He made a supreme effort to stay ahead of a hard chasing peloton but did not have any energy left to sprint and had to settle for a 2nd place, a second day making a massive effort has left Anthony exhausted.

Race Summary
We made the most out of this race, our only chance was in the break and we managed 2 second places and a second place in the KOM.

GP la Marseillaise Preview

This is our first goal race of the season, an easy target of making the top 10 in a 1.1 race. But it's looking anything but easy with the news that Marcel Kittel is on the startlist!

The route is hilly with a small hill around 10km to go and then downhill to the finish. If the hill is selective we have hill sprinters Julian Alaphilippe and Yannick Martinez. If not then flat sprinters Stéphane Poulhiès and Adrien Petit will also be fighting it out.

Team Leader is Franco Pellizotti who is a decent climber just in case there is a break in the peloton over the steeper climbs.

I am very hopeful Anthony Geslin can repeat his great showing in Tour de Gabon and get in the break so we can leave the chasing to other teams.

Petit or Martinez should make a top 10 here but if more big guns turn up on the start line we might struggle.

Volta ao Algarve Preview

We are sending a strong climbing squad to Portugal.

GC chances are with Dani Navarro and Jérôme Coppel who are supported by Yoann Bagot and Christophe Le Mével.

We have good chances in the breakaway with Franco Pellizotti and Nicolas Edet.

This race sees the debut of Anders Myrvold and we look forward to see how he does in the time trial stage.

Wanting to focus the squad on climbers we have not sent anyone for the sprints.

Having sent a strong squad we will be disappointed if we don't get a podium finish.

With the race schedule in chaos we rushed the team to the first race on the cobbles leaving no time for a preview or to prepare young Charlie Charneux for his first race.

The route favours the strong sprinters so I was hopeful Yannick Martinez or Adrien Petit Might be there at the finish.

Vladimir Gusev did a great job to get in the break but it was caught with 42km to go. Meanwhile the rest of the team were shelled out the back on the difficult climbs, not a good sign for our spring campaign. Vladimir eventually finished 28th.

Given our success getting in breakaways I really wanted one of the team to get in this one but it wasn't to be.

Franco Pellizotti made a move on the last climb but was 2' 28" down on the leaders with 10km to go eventually finishing 17th.

Our first goal of the season is missed, and with the breakaway winning it was very frustrating not to make it into the break today.

We have a strong climbing squad hoping to get close to a podium in GC.

Notable is the first outing for Anders 'Panserbjørne' Myrvold, we are looking forward to see how he goes in the time trial.

WOW! Anders couldn't have announced his start in the pro ranks in any better fashion. Not known for his breakaway skills he did a great job to get in the breakaway. And then showed great confidence to attack only getting caught with 1km to go. A fantastic start!

Here is Anders attacking with 7km to go, more of this please Anders!

Stages 2-5
After a troubled time getting the route organised we had a good result with Gustavo César just staying ahead of the bunch sprint on stage 5 and Franco Pellizotti doing a great TT to get GC 5th place.

Nokere Koerse Preview

This is a goal race with an "easy" target of making the top 10, lets hope it goes better than GP la Marseillaise.

10 climbs of the 6% Nokereberg may be too much for Adrien Petit so our best hopes are with Yannick Martinez in a bunch sprint or for Vladimir Gusev or Mickaël Delage to get in the break and hope this one stays away.

Cofidis has a goal of making the top 10 which will be difficult in a straight sprint which is why it was great to see William Bonnet get into the break.

i59.tinypic.com/15nb0p5.jpg

As so often happens the break managed to stay away and Bonnet was in the sprint for 1st but was not the fastest finishing 4th which was good enough to secure our first goal of the season.

As expected 10 climbs of the 6% Nokereberg was too much for Adrien Petit who came in 30th.

WOW again! Charlie is also not known for his breakaway skills but seeing Anders in Algave must have inspired him to make the breakaway, great job! Charlie survived until about 45km to go when the strong men took control, a very useful learning opportunity for the young rider.

Cofidis has a hard goal of top 5 in GC, I don't think hard really covers it.

Maybe our best chance comes from a breakaway with Edet, Geslin, Le Mével and Pellizotti all capable of making it into the break.

Stages 1,2 and 3

With a strong sprinting field the team wisely saved themselves over these flat stages without loosing any time.

Stage 4

i.imgur.com/v8W2P0C.jpg

The sharp climb at the end should make this one for the hill sprinters or allow the break to stay away. Maybe a stage for Julian Alaphillippe?

i.imgur.com/vukGqgB.jpg

Franco Pellizotti attacks attacks on Cote du Mont Brouilly with 1 km to the top with D.Nerz (TNE), D.Martin (GRS) and R.Urán (SKY) for company.

Franco didn't quite have the legs for a win but 5th place is an encouraging result especially on a day when a lot of good riders lost time.

Stage 5

i.imgur.com/UW9xWXi.jpg

The hills don't look selective so sprinters or breakaway, Geslin perhaps?

i.imgur.com/kOiKQUz.jpg

Its Jérôme Coppel who makes it the second day running Cofidis have a man in the break. He had a good go at trying for the KOM jersey but didn't have the legs to follow Devenyns last attack.

Come on Jérôme there are plenty of KOM points left!

GC remains the same except Sagan moves into third by the odd second.

Stage 6

i.imgur.com/gZzmENA.jpg

The uphill finish will create time gaps, need Navarro & Pellizotti to be on their best form.

i.imgur.com/JDsWo9D.jpg

Another day and another Cofidis rider in the break. This time Nicholas Edet makes it into a 10 man break. He hung on until about 40km left but couldn't keep up with the better climbers.

Neither Navarro or Pellizotti made it into the leaders group and Edet finished highest in GC in 18th.

Stage 7

i.imgur.com/fpINfkm.jpg

Lumpy stage will need the team to work well to stay in contention.

i.imgur.com/DwsMFCQ.jpg

Great attacking riding from the Cofidis boys, this time Romain Hardy makes it into the break with J.Bérard (ALM), C.Muriel (COL), M.Monfort (TFR) and J.Roy (FDJ)

Behind the break of the day Jérôme Coppel makes a break from the peloton on the narrow roads but it comes to nothing.

This time Romain does have good legs so with a stage win a real possibility he attacks with 17 km left when the breakaway still has a 3 minutes gap with 17 km left!

i.imgur.com/9c0ytSN.jpg

The stage win is between Christian Muriel and Romain and sadly his attack has taken its toll and he has to settle for a well deserved 2nd place. Romain takes over GC top stop in 18th bumping Nicolas to 19th!

Stage 8

i.imgur.com/3CwDoKd.jpg

Another lumpy stage, I suspect we will be hoping for a breakaway win by now.

i.imgur.com/f1qMgQK.jpg

This is amazing, we get in the break again today, this time Franco Pellizotti makes the move, but he does not feel too good and is not competitive in the KOM sprints and cannot keep up.

He just manages to stay ahead of the leaders finishing in 8th place.

Edet hangs on to his 19th place in GC as our best place

DDV, E3 and Gent-Wevelgem

Dwars door Vlaanderen, E3 Harelbeke and Gent-Wevelgem cover the cobbles and hills of Flanders meaning Adrien Petit and Yannick Martinez are unlikely to make it to the end in the bunch. So we will be looking for either Vladimir Gusev or Mickaël Delage to get in the break and hope they have the strength to hang on for a top 10 finish.

No it was just rescheduled a bit. Adrien Petit's winter cobbles training finally paid off with a great 10th place.

Stage 4 TT

Myrvold has set 14'35 as the time to aim for before the 68 potential GC riders start clocking in.

Anders took advantage of the good conditions to post a great time which was only just beaten, the wind got a lot stronger for the GC contenders and Anders ended up in a great 2nd place.

Leader GC: Daniel Navarro
EPIC Riders: Anders Myrvold
Goal (medium): Top 10 GC
Navarro is an outsider for the podium, but only if he rides a decent TT. It should be easy enough for him to accomplish the goal of a top 10. With Pellizotti and Coppel he has great lieutenants to get a good result here.

Hardy (Cofidis) was part of the big break, and he is the first to get over the only climb of the day. Most of the other riders are caught by the peloton.

KoM:
1. Hardy (Cofidis) - 6 points
2. Proni (Neri Sottoli) - 4 points
3. Gruzdev (Astana) - 2 points

Another great effort to get into the break and Romain adds another KOM jersey to his collection.

And another rider doing quite well. Coppel goes a second faster than Machado on the first part. He keeps going and finishes one second faster than Machado.

Stage 3
After a good performance in the TT the team were controlling the race as seen by this intermediate sprint result.

2. Bagot (Cofidis) - 2 points
3. Navarro (Cofidis) - 1 point

Elissonde is caught by a small group that has gone clear of the rest. The riders in this group are Elissonde, Mollema, Kelderman, Peraud, Hintermuller, Navarro and Coppel. Top favourite Quintana has missed the split and he is 40 seconds behind.

Navarro and Coppel finish 6th and 7th on the stage and Pellizotti finished in the next group in 18th which means Coppel achieved our top 10 goal with a great 3rd place and we got a superb first place in the Team rankings.

This trip to Corsica was very rewarding for Cofidis.

Volta ao Algarve

The Tour of the Algarve was my first proffessional experience, riding for the Cofidis team. It was an amazing experience and I am delighted to have started my professional career against the beautiful backdrop of Southern Portugal. I was delighted to even be on the startlist, but my main goal was the time trial stage, where I hoped for a good result.

Despite it being my first race I wasted no time on getting started with some serious racing. I managed to get in some great ridea, including a last minute attack. Despite the lack of an end result, I was delighted with the race. It was incredible to be able to compete with some strong riders in my first race as a pro, and to get so close was an exhilarating experience. The team boss was very encouraging and happy, which only enforced my enthusiasm about this team.

Unfortunately, due to a failure of the race organisers, the race had to be restarted. This time things did not go as well for me. I was already tired and demoralised from 3 pointless days of racing. To make matters worse I picked up a small knock before the time trial that meant I only managed 26th place.

After the restart my time in Portugal was disappointing. I feel as if I let the team down, but more than that I am frustrated. I really enjoyed my debut in the Algarve, so it was disappointing that due to the errors made by others that was all for nothing. The team manager told me this was just part of cycling and I need to learn from the experience.

DaveTwoBob
Hi Anders, in no way did you let the team down in Algave.

I will always remember the excitement of your attack from the break in your first race. The rescheduled race was hard enough for the seasoned pros to cope with so don't beat yourself up.

As Sean Kelly says "Thats bike racing"

Thank you boss. It means a lot to know the team is so supportive, you have been behind me the whole way. It is a great experience to be part of this team.

i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag59/CEriksie/Pcmdaily%20EPIC/Criterium%20International/stage%202/CritInt%20stage%202%20p8_zpsf554xqwm.jpg

My second race of the season took place on Corsica. Again, I was targeting the time trial, but I was there as part of a team, so I was willing to do anything to help Cofidis do well. Corsica is a beautiful place, and I was fortunate for my first two races to be in such scenic locations. There's time to enjoy the scenery after though, so I was 100% focused from day one.

Stage one was flat and uneventful. Personally I was more concerned with saving my energy for the time trial. I completed the 7km course in 10:43, which was good enough for 9th. Normally I am strongest at short time trials, but this time there was a lot of tough opposition. All things considered, 9th is a very strong result.

The final stage was into the mountains. For the Cofidis team it was all about controlling the pace. In the end the team excelled itself. We achieved a 3rd and 7th place overall within the team, which was a great thing to be a part of. 9th was my first official top 10 result, which was a brilliant experience, but naturally now I need to work hard to turn that into an even better result.
