Nailed my goal prediction! Looks like i'll be the main man to get the Stage Win at the TDU and then to go an podium San Remo in March. Certainly not complaining, those goals have been known to me for a while and are what i'm aiming for. Just happy to see the UCI focus it's goals elsewhere in the squad.
The TDU is coming fast now and i can't wait to get underway. The first piece of good news is no Sagan, no Demare or Bouahnni. Not many teams have released their lists yet but it's a good sign to see some bigger names skipping this race. Regardless it will be a great opener and no-one knows what's going to happen as everyone comes back from the off-season.

Delighted with those counter goals. Catalunya will be difficult with Movistar OP but not impossible. I was hoping to win San Luis already.

That payment won't be due until the goals are completed. You see, here at BMC, we like to find creative new ways to fail goals.

So that's why you sold Cadel! You need new riders to do it, in more interesting ways, next time.

"Time to Owniak" | Goals for Part 1 #6
Dzien dobry, Hello fans the UCI just published our team goals and I'm only participating in 1 of those goals. The goal is a Top 10 in Tirreno, where I will most likely assist König getting that goal, but the route really fits my abilities, so I will consider myself an outsider to get this goal with us home.
I will lead the team in Tour of Oman and my personal goal here is an Top 10, which should be possible with the right decisions and I'm really excited to lead the team once again. My main goal still remains the Vuelta and I will spend the rest of the season improving my climbing.
If there is one thing I would say that I am, then it would be that I'm fully commited to achieving my goals and as I've already moved to Spain, I will have a few advantages left in my sleeve once the Vuelta rolls again and the route couldn't be more perfect for me.
So first Tour of Oman and then Tirreno - Adriatico for me in this season part and I expect to get some good results!

January Startlists
Tour de San Luis
20 - 26 January
CT.5
Leader | Tejay Van Garderen | Luxury Team Mate | Dario Cataldo | Team Mate | Brent Bookwalter | Team Mate | Lawson Craddock | Team Mate | Chad Haga | Team Mate | Steve Morabito | Team Mate | Larry Warbasse | Team Mate | Danilo Wyss |
UCI Goal: | WIN GC | Team Goal: | WIN GC |
Our season opener is the first race on the America Tour, the Tour de San Luis in Argentina. Naturally, that means we will be sending most of our Americans there as we look to get our season off to the best possible start. We will be riding in full support of Van Garderen, who will look to take advantage of the TT and summit finishes to win the overall classification.
Cataldo, Craddock and Haga make their BMC debuts here, with all three key components of Tejay's mountain help, albeit at different stages. Cataldo may even be able to use his fantastic all-round ability to either go for a top ten finish, be used as a decoy or just simply be Tejay's Lieutenant. Morabito is another strong climber, while Bookwalter and Wyss will be working on the flat for their leader and Warbasse will be looking to show off the stars and stripes on his jersey.
Tour Down Under
21 - 26 January
WT.4
Leader | Adrien Hanzen | Leadout | Adam Blythe | Leadout | Andrew Fenn | Luxury Team Mate | Simon Yates | Team Mate | Fabio Felline | Team Mate | Stefan Küng | Team Mate | Georg Preidler |
The World Tour starts, as always, Down Under for some early season carnage. Usually this race encourages some of the world's top sprinters to fly around the world to test their early season legs. However, this year the route is harder than previous years and really looks like one for punchy sprinters. So, what better way to welcome our new signing Adrien Hanzen than with a race with multiple opportunities for a stage win. With his British leadout of Blythe and Fenn plus the strong engine of Fabio Felline, he should be in the right place in the finale.
No fewer than six riders are making their BMC debut in Australia, with only Adam Blythe having any experience of riding in our jerseys. It's also an extremely young team with an average age of 22.5 and Blythe being our oldest rider at 24 years, 3 months. Young British neo-pro Simon Yates may, depending on circumstances, be allowed freedom in the hillier stages to go for something himself, while Küng and Preidler will be required to do a lot of work over the week.
We're extremely excited to get underway, so what are we waiting for?

Mighty?
Can't say I'm overly worried about Johnson with his ridiculous stats but you never know with wonderful PCM AI.
And I look forward to the battle nacho. Kangert is a great rider. Will be interesting to watch.

Hello,
I've just arrived in Adelaide ahead of the World Tour season opener. Flight was good and my accomodation is nice, i shall be nice and comfy for the next few days. The end of my off-season has gone well. I eased off the riding in the last week or so in order to be nice and fresh for the start, plus there's been a serious increase in media obligations.
The weather looks good for a few days before the race so the team will be out and about on the bikes. Mostly just keeping fresh but we will do some high intensity practice work. But nothing we can do really prepares for a race scenario. We just need to get stuck in and see what happens. Basically this off-season has just felt far too long and everyone wants to get going!!!

"Time to Owniak" | National Duties #7
dzien dobry, hello fans and just Damian here with a quick blog entry! We've just arrived in Adelaide and even though I won't be racing here, I will still support the team from the side of the road. I've been placed in my managers back seat and I will monitor our team's first encouter with the 2014 season.
After this I will return home for two weeks, where I will resume my national duties and participate in the Nations Cup's first entry of the season. I will lead Poland in Tour de Avenir (later on the season) and I can't wait showing my worth there. I will take my responsibilities very serious and therefore you will also see me in the Polish National Team jersey a few times this season.
Tour of Oman is the first race for me and though it's many weeks away, I still have the feeling that I got forever to prepare for my first race. The team has planned to arrive at the latest moment possible in Oman, but I hope the manager will let us see our surroundings on a much further notice!

February Startlists
Tour of Qatar
9 - 14 February
CT.6
Leader | Taylor Phinney | Free Element | Greg Van Avermaet | Team Mate | Brent Bookwalter | Team Mate | Marcus Burghardt | Team Mate | Thor Hushovd | Team Mate | Daniel Oss | Team Mate | Manuel Quinziato | Team Mate | Michael Schar |
Team Goal(s): | Stage Win | | Top 5 GC |
We head back to the desert after a fairly disappointing time last year with the Tour of Qatar the first race in the Middle Eastern double-header. This year, the team will be working for Taylor Phinney, as the presence of an ITT gives him a good chance of a top result, while he's also our quickest sprinter present. Van Avermaet has freedom to try something, while the rest of the team is packed full of strong rouleurs and classics specialists.
Tour of Oman
18 - 23 February
CT.6
Leader | Damian Owniak | Sprinter | Adrien Hanzen | Team Mate | Silvan Dillier | Team Mate | Fabio Felline | Team Mate | Chad Haga | Team Mate | Stefan Kung | Team Mate | Stefano Pirazzi | Team Mate | Larry Warbasse |
Team Goal(s): | Stage Win(s) | | Top 3 GC |
After that, we head south for the Tour of Oman. Very different to Qatar, with much more varied terrain, including the traditional climb up Green Mountain to settle the GC. Because of the climb, Polish youngster Damian Owniak makes his season bow here, aiming for a place on the podium, or at the very least, top 5. He will have help from debutant Pirazzi on the climbs.
We have a two-pronged attack here, with Hanzen going for the sprints too. It's fair to say his leadout won't be the strongest he'll get this year but with a few stages having hills not far from the end, the likes of Felline and Dillier could be more useful than pure sprinters. Swiss neo-pro Dillier will be making his professional debut in Oman and will already be hoping to play an important role in the team's success.
With March and April being extremely busy for the team, this month is definitely the calm before the storm but some riders have a lot to prove and we're excited to see how they get on.

Hi y'all. Tour Down Under has been going pretty solidly for me. I can't match Greipel or Cavendish in a straight sprint off but i've been using the route to my advantage. A stage win would be perfect but racking up the Top10's and Podiums ain't bad for the season opener.
Still in a decent GC position all things considered. It won't be a win but some serious luck and i could crack the Top10, but a Top20 isn't a bad return on the effort put in. It's been a bit of a mixed race i guess. Great lead out into Stirling that other riders benefited from or no real lead-out at all. Something to work on through the season.
I like the TDU as a race. The fans are brilliant an will cheer anyone and anything. The weather is good and the peloton is still fresh and cheerful after the winter break. Two days to go and two more chances for a big result. At least i can rest in the knowledge i've done better than BMC did here last year.

"Time to Owniak" | Training on Max #8
Hello guys
dzien dobry, hope you are well and I just felt a little bored, so I thought that I couldn't be rude and keep you waiting anymore for my next update. The manager has just published the startlist for Tour of Oman, which is a race I think that I can win with the right support from my team.
Warbasse and Pirazzi will therefore prove a huge factor on how we will do, but even though I have nothing against Adrien being here, I think that we should focus on the mountains more than is the case. Oman's climate is also a huge factor for the race and being from Poland that can only be a disadvantage to me.
The last races I've lead the teams have been in the Vuelta and in Poland, but none of these attempts came out succesfull, so I hope I can do well and make that sad thing from last season go away. Nothing is final yet, but at the moment both me and Leopold are fighting for the spot as leader in this years Vuelta and I can't fail in this race or any for that matter.
We got some exciting new riders and I have to say that I think that we can do just as good as last year. I see Gilbert being able to beat Rebellin's Ardennes Classic Record this season and Adrien fighting amongst the big sprinters in the Giro. So yes we might not be certain to get the big spots, but I think that we have a better chance than any of our rivals!

So the Tour Down Under has concluded. I didn't get a stage win, but not through lack of trying. We just came up against some better organised teams and better riders on the day. Not much you can do when that happens. Still pleny of positives to take away, like 15th in the GC.
The team did ok i feel, the manager may agree. For many of us it was a first racing experience together and communcation and teamwork takes time to perfect. We came close and improved upon 2013's squad performance. No point dwelling on the mistakes, especially this early in the year.
Oman Stage 1 went well. The break stayed ahead but i was 2nd in the peloton behind Arnaud Demare. He's a very strong rider built for the classics and the winds and roads in the desert suit him better than me. But as things get a bit lumpier i hope to turn the tables and get some success.
Finally i had my first crack a Hilly Classic in Strade Bianche. It was a strange race so far as the breakaway managed to survive. The peloton was bit all over the place. Still i did my bit for the team and my finish position was respectable if not noteworthy. All good practice as we head towards MSR though.

"Time to Owniak" | Message from the Dessert #9
Dzien dobry, Hello fans I've just arrived at the country of Oman a few days ago and I'm here to fulfill my managers hope of an Podium finish in the GC here, I got support from Stefano Pirazzi and Larry Warbasse as main support and even though they are great riders, I still doubt I will be able to gain full help from them in the most important places of this race.
The mountains are surprisingly suited to my abillities in this race and my opponents are both good and also very taleted, but I highly think that my manager can see me going for the Podium finish and I won't rest until that goal is accomplished.
Even though the day was for sprinters, I could see Adrien going for the stage win and to be honest I just tried to keep up with his insane pace, which in the end resulted him ending 4th and I got an surprising 11th place and considering last season this position was already secured in some way!
The mountains will soon be here, but all I gotta do for now is keeping up with Contador and the others, but I think I can get a good result from here and I would already say that a Top 10 is almost certain!
