Race Report

PCM was annoying again. Despite trying to race it in single-race it didn't work, so I quicksimmed it. If anyone is willing to take a look in the single-race DB, send me a PM please. No surprises in the result, Armin disappointingly took 54th. Hopefully the RR does actually work Frown Just tried it. It doesn't Sad

Luijckx confirms two new signings

Starting in the 2014 season Vacansoleil, then ING, will be a lot more colourful with its two new signings, Björn Arvid and Kristian Hammarling. Both are national champions from their countries, Norway and Sweden, and both have been transferred from the development team, Projob-Odfjell, which next season will be called Odfjell-Ecover.

Both signings are not entirely new faces for those who follow the minor races as well. Björn Arvid for example also took victories in the Volta ao Alentejo and the Pearl Izumi Tour Series, while the Swede won among others the Himmerland Rundt. Both will still have an attempt to develop next year, but according to Luijckx both should be able to get their first results as well.

Our Squad
Matthew Clarkson is in good shape and will try to get a good result here.
Pieter Dubois will have some trouble surviving the hills, but he might alternatively join the break.
Kees Flodder is good at surviving hills, but if he survives he might go for a good result in the sprint.
Fatbardh Haxhi is still on a pink cloud after his victory in Britain. Since this terrain might be too tough for him he'll try to help as good as possible.
Simon Holt is our leader for today. He's capable of surviving hills very well and he has a good sprint to add up.
Heiko Kalichmann is a good help here, or if his form allows it he might even lead us.
Khieu Tet Khamphan is here for help as well. Winner of several KoMs throughout the season has toughened him up for these races.
Floris Swings is here mainly for experience. He'll try to help his leaders here.

Race Report

We got our rider in the break today, as Fatbardh managed to reach it.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0280.jpg

A small group of the pack split off at today's first long climb, and immediately caught the break. In this group of less than 40 Fatbardh, Simon and Heiko are represented for us.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0281.jpg

Sella, Pellizotti, Failli and Schumacher are away on the climb and head into the descent with a gap of 39s. 17km to go though. Behind, Fatbardh has been dropped.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0282.jpg

With 10km to go Sella has left them behind, while Battaglin is heading for the three left. The rest seems pretty much eliminated.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0283.jpg

He still leads with 5km left to ride.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0284.jpg

Battaglin and Pellizotti seem to battle for 2nd, while a group of 7 is fighting for 4th. None of our riders is part of it.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0285.jpg

Sella takes an easy victory though.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0286.jpg

Battaglin and Pellizotti complete the podium.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0287.jpg

Simon unfortunately gave too much on the climbs and ends outside the top-20.

Expectation
End the season on a high note, but a top-20 would be nice.

Race report

Taeke is our first specialist to set off. His time of 1h09m36 is just 4 seconds slower than current leader Lequatre.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0291.jpg

Gretsch sets a very fast time: 1h08m25. Nevertheless it's not the best time as Meyer is 4s faster!
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0292.jpg

Our second of three specialists is Armin. He sets a provisional 8th time, 1m08 slower than current leader Clarke, but 21s faster than Taeke.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0293.jpg

Ásgeirr is our final rider for today. He surprises literally everyone by setting a new best time at 1h07m55.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0294.jpg

A failing Firsanov could ensure him of a top-10. As he loses over a minute, the Swede will 100% sure get a top-10 today.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0300.jpg

Bobridge can't ruin the party and ends up provisional 4th. Ásgeirr to at least get top-6 then.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0301.jpg

Ludvigsson ruins the party though. He takes 20s off Ásgeirr's time.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0295.jpg

Roy is not even nearly that impressive. He falls out of the top-10. Ásgeirr definitively in the top-5 therefore.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0296.jpg

Castroviejo not too good either, also losing over a minute.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0297.jpg

Malori sets a new best though, at 1h07m23, pushing the Swedes to second and third.
i40.photobucket.com/albums/e206/Selwink1/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0298.jpg

Phinney sets a third time, 28s behind, but pushing Ásgeirr off the podium by 4s. Nevertheless he ends up 4th, 32s behind winner Malori.
