MARSUPILAMI
SotD INTERVIEW

MARSUPILAMI: Hello SotD. To start, why did you choose that usename?
SotD: I chose it a long time ago, when I was going with a mate of mine to a LAN-Party. They all thought my normal name didn't cut it, when I had to play mulitplayer, and everyone had names including 3 as an E, capital letters in the middle of a word and such things, also everyone had to have something "cool"... The night I had to decide which name I should use, I saw an episode of Southpark in which the Son of the Devil was present, so I simply took those four words and put them into SotD.
M: And why did you want to be interviewed?
S: You needed more people to interview, and I just happened to see that while browsing my way through the PCM.Daily board. I thought, I could help with that, and having been here for quite some years, I supposed I might be easier to ask some questions than some of the new members.
M: Another why. Why didn´t you have photo?
S: A photo as in, an avatar? I don't know really. I just didn't use that as much as many others, and after a long time inhere I think it would interfere with how I read my own replies, so I just decided not to put anything there. I might change it at some point though.
M: How´s your Man-Game team?
S: In a transition phase I guess. I decided to change my team from chasing all the biggest stars, into making a french team. And when I decided to do that I had to go for the younger french riders if I wanted to have a good french team at some point. This means that I have A LOT of talents who isn't fully developped yet. I have, however, combined it with a big gun, Simon Spilak, from whom I expected total dominance. He hasn't exactly delivered that as he has gotten a 1, 2, 3 and 4th in the GC races he has been riding. I kinda like my team now, whereas I previously wanted to change my entire setup from season to season, but I'm not satisfied with the PT position which I'm currently holding. I think I need to be constantly in the top 5 to be happy with my team, and I just haven't been able to deliver that for quite some time now. I believe next season will change, though.
M: You are one of the older users here. I don´t mean age, I mean that you registered here on 2006!
S: True. I do believe I am also one of the oldest, being almost 30 by now.
M: Why did you register here?
S: Well that is quite simple. I played a lot of Cycling Manager (PCM) back in the days, and this site was about as close as you could get to a serious contraband to cyanides own forum, which I was also a big part of. Having "known" CrueTrue from the very beginning of the games history also made an impact on my wanting to be here. I wasn't very active at first, and basically isn't very active now either. I love playing the Man-Game, and I played a lot of similar games, even creating a few myself, in the time being. The Man-Game was, and is, what drives me back to this site on a daily basis. If I wasn't a part of the game, I would slowly, but firmly, drift away from the site, so a huge probs to SN and the crew behind the game for making such a tremendous effort in keeping members that could otherwise be a lost cause for the site.
M: Time to choose. ICL or EPIC?
S: I don't know what any of that is, so I can't tell you.
M: Football (Soccer) or Basketball?
S: Football, no doubt... As in soccer, clearly. Basketball is, to me, like handball. Way to many goals/points, and much to little tactical awareness. Also I dislike the fact that a sport in its entity should consist only of players of a certain size. When that is the fact, there is much to little technique and tactique included, and as such not a sport at all, in my mind.
M: Pizza or hamburger?
S: Hehe, good question. I guess it depends on my mood. I like both, and could eat it most of the times, if I was presented with it. My normal pick would probably be a pizza though, but I can't really elaborate on why, as I really like burgers also.
M: Well, here is where the interview finishes. Thanks!
S: Oh okay, no problem. I hope you got, from it, what you wanted.
M: Bye!
S: Bye!

Haha, son of the Devil! I always had to think of Songs for the Deaf (SftD) when reading SotD (one of the best music records ever, btw) Wink Guess i will keep that connection, but the true story behind your nickname is interesting, too Smile

i'm happy I could help. I'm not sure my answers are that interesting, but they are honest atleast Smile

Yeah I have heard quite a lot of different guesses as to what my nickname meant. People seem to give me a little grin once they know what it actually means, and why I picked it though. To me it's a bollocks nickname, but I really am not very good at picking stuff like that, hence my first ever nickname was Team Johnke, where Johnke is my surname - With an ø though Smile

jandal7 INTERVIEW

MARSUPILAMI: Hello jandal7! How are you?
jandal7: Good
M: Well, to start, in which part of New Zealand do you live?
J: If I told you you wouldn't know...
Canterbury
M: Have you ever seen a New Zealand cycling race "on the roads"? (I mean, not on TV, on the road)
J: Yes, various when I was a kid, not so much since I moved south
M: Have you followed this 2014 season?
J: Yes, but only the continental tours in the second half, for some strange reason
M: If you had to say one cyclist of the season, who would you choose?
J: That's tough, probably I wouldnt pick someone like Valverde, even though he's been consisten but not winning,, you'd probably go with somebody like Contador or Gerrans, though in not a huge fan of either. Such a great season though
M: Why?
J: The second two I mentioned probably they were consistent not just in all results, but consistently won, (not including both of them got injured in le tour and didn't go to their best)
M: Now, choose. Giro 2014, Tour 2014 or Vuelta 2014?
J: The Giro was exciting as always, but for me something was missing, just everyone suspected Quintana's final week, Evans to eventually be crap, Uran to be second. The emergence of Aru was great though.
Le Tour was great, such a different Tour to others (Team Sky were basically not there = exciting GT) and there is the crashes question. Imo Andy Schleck wouldn't have won the Tour anyway so everyone shut up.
Seriously though, Nibbled would have been up there with the big two, especially with three minutes, maybe more on Froome, in hand.
La Vuelta was meant to be the most exciting, and sometimes was, but I hated Contador's style once he got in red. Waaay to defensive. And Quintana crashing sucked, because he looked probably in the best shape after crashes, etc, happened to the big two and a huge rest. But it still would've been close. Overall up there with le tour, and sorry if that was too long an answer
M: Tinkoff-Saxo or Team Sky?
J: You're kidding, right? Astana. If someone quotes me I'm rip their gut out
M: What´s your favourite food?
J: I dunno, probably curry or limes
M: Do you have a favourite song?
J: Not particularly
M: And a favourite singer/group?
J: Maybe Imagine Dragons
M: How did you decided to do "The Mole"?
J: Well I was reading the preview of all Ian's stories and seeing if any seemed good, when I stumbled across it, and really wanted to do my own
M: Could you resume the game in a couple of lines more or less?
J: Resume? Imma go with describe here.
The Mole is a European TV show, but I'm describe the pcm version.
In the beta we are doing right now, each player sends me orders for each stage. They have certain tasks (top 5 GC , win stage 6, etc.) But one of them is the mole and has to subtly stop them, without letting them know
M: Thanks for your time!
J: You too
M: Bye!
J: Haere ra!

Evans. Sad but he was pretty good in the first week, he just faded. Grin and Mathews was good and I liked watching Aru. Smile

SCHLECK!!!! Changed my picture back to last one. Grin but he would have won. Or got a Podium. Probably. Maybe. Please.

If the tour happened without crashes and mechanicals (you can take out Schleck if you really need to):

1. Vincenzo Nibali
2. Alberto Contador
3. Jean-Christophe Peraud
4. Chris Froome
5. Andy Schleck
6. Thibaut Pinot
7. Warren Barguil
8. Tejay Van Garderen
9. Alejandro Valverde
10. Leopold Konig

M: Tinkoff-Saxo or Team Sky?
J: You're kidding, right? Astana. If someone quotes me I'm rip their gut out

ok, I can quote you. Wink

Lemon is better than lime. Wink

I'm allowed to believe! He would've done well without the crash! Grin
