Team is still hungry and good to see that some lesser known riders want to take their chances.

At a press conference right before the start of Giro dell'Emilia UCI announced a number of changes to the calendar next year.
Tour of Oman have had some disappointing racing in its time as a WT-race and as a consequence it is now demoted back to Cat. HC.
The place as the February race on the WT will be taken by Vuelta a Andalucía, who in contrast to Oman have seen some very open and competitive racing.
As a reward for the great progress that have happened in the Nordic region the last 4-5 years the UCI also announced that Post Danmark Rundt will be promoted to the WT.
Also the fall classics will see some changes. Two years ago Canado lost one of their World Tour races and now they lose the other as the last couple of editions have seen the win go to whoever happened to attack with 5 km to go. A WT race should be less predictable than that.
The final changes happens in October, where the battle against relegation will get very serious from next year as both Giro dell'Emilia and Paris - Tours have been promoted to the WT as some of the oldest and most prestigious races of the late season.

Giro dell'Emilia
Another classic. Same strategy…
You know the drill. Olafurson is off from the start to the great surprise of Vallejo. Guess this is the first time he has been in the break with an Icelandic rider…
The breaks are having a really tough time today and after 50 km a new break containing Quaade only hold just over a minute. No time to stop for oranges today.
With 10 km to go it’s a new break again. Quaade, Manan, Vallejo and Rostollan have 2’11’’ to the peloton where Volkswagen are calling the shots.
Santambrogio joins the four with 80 km to go.
With 50 km to the line Vorganov and Frapporti have joined the break as well, who now has 4’22’’ to the peloton where the Italian teams have started to work.
If you were wondering if Quaade suddenly is capable of handling the hills here is your answer: No!
He is dropped at the first pass over the San Luca climb .
At the same time Liquigas really starts making the race hard and all our boys get lost behind with Cort being the one hanging on the longest.
A very disappointing development!
Even though Quaade, Manan and Rostollan still have 1’30’’ to the peloton with 30 km to go the race seems over for us.
Santambrogio, Frapporti and Vorganov is first into the final three rounds 2’28’’ ahead of the peloton.
But then things start happening behind as Henao attacks from far out.
With two round to go Henao has made sure the break was caught and only 16 riders remained out front.
Quaade has already passed through and is gone for good today.
With this form it looks like Volkswagen will get back on the promotion spot.
Locatelli tries to go solo into the final round.
He makes the front group explode completely.
Things get a bit more together before the final sprint where six riders are left to fight for the win.
Karjalainen gets the most out of today from us as he gets to see Rubiano overpower the others in the sprint. To bad our Finnish youngster still has a round to go...
Henao’s 3rd palce puts Volkswagen back on the 2nd promotion spot and Statoil back in the CT.

Must be the first time that there are no Novo Nordisk riders in the top 63

Pretty sure Statoil counted on some Novo Nordisk support, but that was nothing today. Maybe next time then. Henao might really push Volkswagen all by himself into the World Tour.

VoetsT: Yeah. I don't even have to look it up to say that this was the worst race for the team all season...
Shonak: Quaade worked his but of trying to give the break a good gap before the hills, but there just wasn't anything we could do today

Matthew21rp: Not with the Italians racing it like this at least
Had hoped Cort could have done a bit more though...

the_hoyle: It really is!
sutty: Quiet but hard
Hopefully Post Danmark Rundt can provide some racing of a WT-level...

I'm definitely agree with the changes I the UCI calendar. Paris-Tours should be a WT race IRL

welker: Both Paris-Tours and Emilia have had stronger startlists than the disappearing races the last couple of years and have a long history so it only feels natural that they should get promoted

Paris - Tours
Our final European race this season will be a tough nut to crack as we have brought the same team as in the last three races meaning no sprinter...
Jens Erik Madsen makes sure to show himself in the first break of his final race as a pro cyclist.
As usual the first break doesn’t last long and neither does the 2nd. By then Madsen was too tired to keep attacking and instead Wallin found his way to the main break.
With 150 km to go they have 7 minutes on the peloton.
It quickly gets obvious that enough teams want a sprint to make the breaks survival very unlikely and with 100 km to go the gap is kept at 7 minutes after having been close to 9 minutes for a while.
The only reason I can think of that would make Hebik, De Maar and El Fares attack from the peloton with 60 km is that the first two want to show their champions jerseys.
Quaade tries to surprise the sprinters with an attack at the 5 km mark.
No surprises here though as he can’t get a gap and with 1,5 km to go Sagan is in front after enjoying a great leadout from Rojas.
It turns into a very close sprint…
…for 2nd place.
Bouhanni’s 2nd place puts Statoil back on the promotion spot!
