Time for the Queen stage…

More or less straight up from the start inspires Jeppe Lykke Hartvig Nielsen to go out in the break.
He is joined by Pavarin, Gruzdev and Berling, though the latter quickly falls behind as Jeppe leads up the mountains to claim the mountain points.

With 70 km to go Jeppe holds the mountain jersey six minutes ahead of the 66-rider peloton.

With 50 km to go Jeppe is joined by Ascani, who is worth quite a bit more than his previous companions on the climbs.

With 25 km to go Jeppe and Luca hold about 8 minutes on the favourites and Jeppe has secured the mountain jersey.

With 4,5 km to the top Jeppe is sitting on Ascanis wheel as he has no interest in expanding the lead.

Gesink is looking strong among the favourites, but both Laengen and Fuglsang are still in the group.

Wheelsucking is not quite enough for Jeppe to take the stage, while Gesink drops Fuglsang behind.

A hard giro is starting to show on the Dane.

Stage 8: Megeve – Megeve
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/06-04-Daup-81_zpsbd782602.jpg
One final hilly day to consolidate the podium.

i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/06-04-Daup-82_zps6d929e82.jpg
Today the break was allowed away as the favourites kept looking at each other.

With 15 km to go only Edet is still out front 30 seconds ahead of the favourite group.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/06-04-Daup-83_zps2536b6d4.jpg
Monfort is leading the favourites up the final climb.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/06-04-Daup-85_zps704f3830.jpg
2,5 km to the top. Gesink attacks and everyone else follows.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/06-04-Daup-86_zpsfdca37d1.jpg
The podium are together at the top, but then Fuglsang attacks right before the descent.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/06-04-Daup-87_zpsb383296a.jpg
He can’t get a big enough gap to keep the others behind so the top four gets to sprint for the stage win.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/06-04-Daup-88_zpsbce30d88.jpg
And the yellow jersey takes a symbolic win.

This goes to prove that Jakobs form was perfectly timed for the giro with him finishing 2nd in both his warm-up race and his warm-down race.

And by all standards a stage win on Ventoux, a GC 2nd, the mountain jersey and the team classification is some very good results!

francopell: 2nd in Dauphiné is very solid in deed...

Marcovdw: Thanks - that is my favourite banana so far '

Miguel: No, if finishing 2nd in Dauphiné is bad I'm gonna have to reassess my life Wink

sutty: They can certainly be very content both of them!

Daggen: What can I say - I have always had a soft spot for them IRL and enjoys chasing them ingame

Jylland Rundt

This race started up last year, but without our participation.
With a hilly stage, a flat TT and two heavy cobbled stages it is a very interesting and open route.

This year we have brought half of the Tour-roster to get them in shape, a couple of the Giro-riders and McDermott to take care of the two cobbled stages. We want to show the home fans what we’re all about!

On the first stage Nicki was close to winning from the break, but had to concede it on the final part as he was just not fast enough on the line.

i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/06-05-Jylland_zpsbe3865dd.jpg
Stage 2 was mostly flat, so we decided to test run our sprint train for the Tour de France.
The technical side of the train worked nicely, but it’s a good thing they still have three weeks to get in shape and to get the last details adjusted…

We expected the TT to be a walk in the park, but in spite of decent rising from a lot of our riders we weren’t able to match Fuchs, who is really turning on to a top contender on Time trials.

Stage four turned into more hard work than we would have liked defending Edvalds GC lead after the TT.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/06-05-Jylland-4-_zps386eb4f1.jpg
In the end an extremely close sprint between Eddy and Kump.
Edvald takes it only a few cm ahead of the Slovenian on a hard uphill sprint.

The final two stages have a lot of similarities in both terrain and amount of cobbles to Paris - Roubaix.
So McDermott have these two days as a personal objective since he is still too onesided to really contest in races without cobbles - and the stages are even raced on the very same roads he raced as a child.

The whole team does well preparing the assault tearing themselves apart to make a grand solo victory possible for Erik. With Edvald Boasson Hagen being the last helper (in yellow even) he surely can't complain about the level of support here!
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/06-05-Jylland-5-_zps81458e56.jpg
That will surely help on Eriks determination to help Edvald another time.
Stage 6 happens pretty much the same way except that there are even more cobbles allowing Erik to take over the GC lead as well.

I know I told the guys to dominate the race, but now I feel they maybe overdid it slightly...

This route surely deserves a stronger peloton! It's a brilliant route, but in the end it was just too hard for a lot of the small teams...

Tour de Suisse

We have two goals in Tirreno: Polishing the sprint train and getting Ipsen ready for the Tour.

Hopefully the latter will mean a good GC results for Willy as well.

For quite a while we had Rasmus Quaade in the lead of the prologue, but in the end both Ipsen and Boasson Hagen made better use of the hill.

Stage 2 had a lone mountain on the first part of the race, but a flat last third. With our result on the first tage absolutely no one was willing to help us in the chase so seven riders ended up winning with four minutes to the peloton.

Stage three turned in to yet another disappointment as Ipsen in spite of trying several times couldn’t get away and in the end blew up and lost a good bit of time.

On stage four Nicki Sørensen went in the break to regain some honour for the team. Unfortunately he was up against younger and faster guys…
The next day it was Juul-Jensen’s time to get in the break, but with the same result.

i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/06-10-Suisse-1_zpsd1c54595.jpg
Desperate to get something from this race while realizing any GC-chances were gone Willy went on a big attack right from the start of the Queen Stage in pursuit of the mountain jersey. And he is first over the two big mountains and even manages to finish 8th on the stage!

The chase from the big favourites as they realized Willy was having a very good day even resulted in cracking all the other young riders, so Ipsen took that jersey as well.
Now that's what I call a comeback!

We continued our chase of stage wins on the next day and the team managed to neutralize the favourites battle and Thor provided a perfect lead-put for Edvald.

Stage 8 was yet another breakaway stage and yet again Nicki was in there. Unfortunately he hasn’t become any younger since stage 4…

The race concluded as it started: With a TT won by Edvald Boasson Hagen.

The guys did well after out GC dreams collapsed on stage 2 and 3. Three stages for Eddy and three jerseys is certainly more than most teams dare dream of - especially after a couple of very bad stages!

Not a bad race for the team.

Atlantius
Miguel: Not bad, but a little worrying to see Ipsen crack like that on the early stages. After all he's suppossed to be our Tour de France captain...
