This was it. The 2015 Amgen Tour of California.

--- *** --- *** --- *** ---

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/The%20Comeback/Season%2011/Ep8/1_zpse325852e.jpg

How did I get here you maybe asking?
Two stages to go and I was wearing the yellow jersey!

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/The%20Comeback/Season%2011/Ep8/2_zpsbdcaace8.jpg

I can't believe it either. And no I'm not dreaming, this is real life.
Still don't believe me? Here is how I got to this point...

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/The%20Comeback/Season%2011/Ep8/3_zps0606f8ea.jpg

Stage 1: The team has me paired up with Sergio Henao for this tour.
It's my job to protect him at all costs.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/The%20Comeback/Season%2011/Ep8/4_zpsa15c7752.jpg

The hilly 1st day ends in a 8-rider group sprint. Henao and I finish in that group.
A strong start, Henao buys me dinner after the stage for my hard work.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/The%20Comeback/Season%2011/Ep8/5_zps6905183a.jpg

Stage 2: The race comes down to an uphill finish.
Henao is bribing me to protect him all the way up the climb.
"Steak is on me again tonight if you get me to the top!"

The yellow jersey of Daniel Moreno is watching us closely.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/The%20Comeback/Season%2011/Ep8/6_zpseb6daa77.jpg

I'm in top form and riding the race of my life.
It doesn't hurt that Henao is encouraging me to go faster.
1 kilometer from the top and Sergio goes for glory.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/The%20Comeback/Season%2011/Ep8/7_zpsc437c794.jpg

It's a 1-2 for Santander! It's by far the best stage of my career!
Henao takes the win and I follow right behind to finish 2nd.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/The%20Comeback/Season%2011/Ep8/8_zpsc0bf11be.jpg

Stage 6: After 3 flat stages it's the San Jose - San Jose time trial.
I know this route like the back of my hand, I raced the same route 2 years ago.
Plus, I'm feeling like a superhero after my 2nd place on stage 2.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/The%20Comeback/Season%2011/Ep8/9_zps3e9973ff.jpg

I knew every turn. Where to speed up or slow down. I was in a groove.
For the 1st time in a long time I felt like I had ridden a good TT.
Just like when I was a kid trying to make it to school on time.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/The%20Comeback/Season%2011/Ep8/10_zps7bc08844.jpg

As I turned the corner to see the climb up to the finish
I could spot Daniel Martin, he started 2 minutes before me!
I had someone to lock onto and could pace myself.

Pedal over pedal I closed the gap
and then passed Martin before the finish!

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/The%20Comeback/Season%2011/Ep8/11_zps1714b753.jpg

Moreno had hopes of keeping yellow but...

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/The%20Comeback/Season%2011/Ep8/12_zpsa9f7aea8.jpg

That honor belongs to me! And I also won the stage!
The biggest victory of my career so far!

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/The%20Comeback/Season%2011/Ep8/13_zps1379b63d.jpg

That brings us back to Stage 7.
The favourites are attacking Henao and I up the final climb, Mt. Diablo.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/The%20Comeback/Season%2011/Ep8/14_zps24959f2d.jpg

I can't stress enough how much Henao is guiding me.
The two of us, working well together, pull everyone back
and soon it's just us and Daniel Martin out front.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/The%20Comeback/Season%2011/Ep8/15_zps1b229653.jpg

Bye Martin! "Go Travis! We have broken free! Everything you got!
Don't let me down now, you have already come this far!"

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/The%20Comeback/Season%2011/Ep8/16_zps6b070faf.jpg

I'm struggling for air. 1 kilometer to go!

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/The%20Comeback/Season%2011/Ep8/17_zpsc4b0f911.jpg

Henao, looking fresh as ever, sprints for the finish leaving me in the dust.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/The%20Comeback/Season%2011/Ep8/18_zps010245b2.jpg

Sergio takes the win and the yellow jersey away from me.

i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mresuperstar2/The%20Comeback/Season%2011/Ep8/19_zps8dcd1956.jpg

I can't believe Henao ditched me like that. He stole my home tour away from me!

I couldn't be that mad though because
there was no way I would have finished 2nd overall
if it wasn't for his encouragement throughout the entire tour.
He had pushed me to limits I had never reached before in my career.

So, 2nd Overall. That's a hell of an accomplishment.
Surely that will peak the interest of teams to offer me a contract for 2016.

Wow, that was certainly a great result for the team, shame Travis couldn't get the GC, but well, still a great accomplishment.

You really don't know how this works do you? It's a 500 Day timeline.

Travis was given the contract with Garmin on Day 159, Stage 7 of the Amgen Tour of California happened on Day 112. Logically, the main reason Travis got his contract from Garmin was his result in California. Wink

At the end of the season, if I remember, I'll put the links to the all the Season 11 episodes in chronologically order. But I haven't jumped around that much, and the last few episodes tie everything back together. Wink

You really have to make this extremely confusing? Pfft

And why no form or XP points??

@547984: It's not that confusing... plus it makes the plot better.

No form or XP because it wouldn't make much sense to use it considering I have already done his next race. Also I used progression 0.3 for his stats during the 500 Days. Not like it mattered, he didn't develop very much anyways. As you will see at the start of Season 12. Thanks for asking.

@Jesleyh: You probably weren't the only one. Wink

Now you have to go back and read all of them.

Reread them now Wink

Also, Alonso can't be angry because of the Garmin contract I guess, since there's more than 2 months between them. I don't think Alonso is that slow Wink

I'm with Code here. I didn't even understand this at all. And like Jesleyh I only just saw the day number. i don't know about 500 Days of Summer or anything about this, so I'm just every confused about what is going on in general.

I think that the confusion is planned so that we understand it at the end. Everything we don't know is by purpose and everything we do know: It starts with Joseph birth, the results at Team Santander are bad at first, he performs great at Amgen Tour, gets a contract at Garmin-Sharp, Alonso is pissed off by something, Chloe cries...

Personally, I like this approach very much. Already have a theory about why Alonso and Chloe are pissed off. But then again, I think that even the choice to include Garmin-Sharp as his possible new team goes further than just the fact, that they are a nice team.

oh so it is a PCM story I kept getting confused by the not using PCM *confused*

@baseballlover312: I would suggest taking the time to watch the movie. A quick search and you could find it on a mediashare website.

It would help you understand the plot of this better, realize a few hidden nuggets I threw in, and overall it's just a good movie with a great message.

@Shonak: At least you get what's going on...

Thanks for trying to clear things up for me.

@SSJ2Luigi: The was part of the narrator from the movie (that whole introduction). Therefore, it's not really PCM based as it is falls under more story telling so that's why I threw that in there. Wink

I brought this upon myself. I get that.
Everything I had worked so hard for was now... gone.
I can't even blame my bad luck for what has happened to me.

The only thing I have left to hold on to is my wife and kids.
Don't feel sorry me, I can't even feel sorry for myself.
My life has completely fallen apart and it's all my fault.

I used to be that guy who overcame the odds.
Now, I'm that guy they call a cheater.

They, however, don't know the whole the story.
