Is it fair to say Guardini has had an 'alright' start to the season?

To be fair, it's not like the competition (sprint wise) was amazing

Well, there wasnt really much sprinting competition for him (As you said), but, it means over the course of the race he didn't make many mistakes in his sprint, he won a large majority of them. He could either go on to have a fantastic season and get many wins, or crash and burn and get nothing more than a few minor placings.

At least, he gave a chance to the others.

I don't get that, but Guardini had the same season last year winning 5 stages here, not a big diffrence.
His weakness is climbing and positioning in better field, will come with experience though. Also if you watched any highlights of this race you'd know the every sprint ended on a massive road, so it was quite easy to position yourselves and it was hard to make any mistakes like boxing in. So it was easy not to make many mistakes in sprints anyway.

Guardini has picked up 6 wins, so a look at the victory list suggests he has a good season. But really, he might aswell have 0 wins. In terms of top sprinters, beating the likes of Jake Keogh, Mohammed Salleh, Raymond Kreder, Matteo Pelucchi and Valentin Iglinskiy doesnt mean a thing.
On the Cavendish-scale of 'shit-small' races, Langkawi is 'ultra-shit' for sprinters.
He didnt win a stage in San Luis against the likes of Boonen, Viviani and Haedo, and he never really challenged in Qatar and Oman with Cavendish, Kittel and Greipel etc for rivals.
He definately has work to do, but clearly has a good amount of speed to work with.

Last season he beat the likes of Farrar, Greipel, Viviani, Petacchi, Van Hummel, Chicchi, Haedo, and Bos in mass sprints.

I didn't see the sprint, and there were no big names there (sprint-wise). It seems Démare has a huge sheer speed though, and should have a brilliant future. Sadly for him guys like Dengelkob, Goss or Kittel are not much older than him, and are probably faster (at the moment), plus others like Cavendish are not old either, and could remain fast until their old days (see Freire, McEwen, Petacchi, they still win races).

I don't know if non-Belgians can see this, but here's a video:
https://www.sporza.../1.1237432
It's in Dutch, and it's 8 minutes long
The sprint starts at 7:25
It's quite impressive if you see where he's coming from in the last 100 metres

It worked fine, thanks. Impressive by Démare, what a jump in the last 100 m. Against no big sprinters, but still...
Something came to my mind, once more, when they showed the Sky guy falling in the peloton, on a cobble section. The peloton was riding at 40 or 45 km/h, and where was the friggin' motorbike ? 15 m ahead. Don't they understand how much they're influencing the race because of the drag effect ? Really something should be done about those cars and motorbikes in cycling races.

Kreuziger 6th at Strade Bianchi?
This man will have hell of a season, if he stays healthy. He said his training was very good this year and he feels in good shape even this early.
Look for him at T-A and even more at Giro
