First day of Winter and it was a nice 23C. Just warm enough for a swim at the beach

Anyhoo, what the HELL is happening with the weather here?!?!?! Here's a quick recap of the weather records that have been broken this month (and within the last two weeks). These records relate to the region (Northern Norway):
- Highest average May-temperature ever
- Highest May-temperature ever
- Least May-rainfall ever
- Most sun-hours in May ever
Keep in mind, this is the NORTH of Norway we're talking about. We also came 0.5C behind the highest recorded May-temp ever in the country (30.6 vs 31.1C).
Probably climate change. Here's a fun statistic for you: If you are younger than 28, you've never lived through a globally colder than average month [source]
Wow, I briefly flicked through the article and couldn't see when they started counting temperatures though.
1880. I should have linked to the actual report, which is here: https://www.ncdc.n...al/2012/10

The weather is fucked up alot and nobody of the parliaments of governments seems to care about it as much as we do
I could blame capitalism here but I won't do it

You should rather blame the so-called experts paid by oil firms who lobby to pretend that global warming or that the influence of man on global warming are not proven or are a swindle.
I read or heard that Spring has been so awful in Europe because ice fields around the northern pole are melting, and ice blocks are drifting south, cooling the air.

Thus capitalism. The oil firms want to keep making as much profits as they can, if the governments would do something about the global warming, one of the first things would be trying to minimize the use of oil...
Ice caps are melting, so the white icy surface of the north pole doesn't reflect the warmth of the sun anymore, so the water absorbs that warmth instead. That's why it's so much hotter in the north of Norway I think..

The Albedo Effect. Not the primary cause but it is an additional factor to current climate change trends. Also as far as i was aware Norway's waters (and i mean shore's out to 50k) are not seasonally covered in sea ice, so that is not the main reason.
Increased melting causing in part the shifting of various steams (Gulf, Jet etc.) has been the main cause.

As long as the prognosis for the summer doesn't come true in Portugal. Coldest winter since 1896.

You are welcomed to come to Czech Republic and take all the water away. Here are floods everywhere, 90% of the whole state. There is big river created near my house, while there should not be river at all.

You're invited to HavÃÅ™ov. We don't have any floods there, just rain.

Oh man, I totally forgot about breakfast
I've been awake over 4 hours and only now do I remember I still have to eat breakfast! I'm so bad with food... I can't even count the times I forgot to eat dinner because I was focused on something else

Hm... Quite weird. We hadnt had any severe rainfalls that caused floods since Octobre 2011. Its astonishing what A few miles distance can change. Same with the winter this year, while the whole british Island recieved snow in some form or another, we just had extremely cold weather from November up until March...
Climatology... Maybe something to look into...

We had floods and snow in Yorkshire and Durham just a few weeks back, but nothing as bad as that. Hope everyone makes it safely through. I live at the bottom of a hill, but fortunately when our river floods it is on the side of the hill which is less populated so there aren't too many problems.

Hi mate. Just wait for it, i think Moravia is next on the list, in the second half of the week, as there should be raining. (but nothing brutal like here in South Bohemia through this weekend - it felt like there is someone with giant bucket full of water in the skies and is pouring water down).
I hope Moravia will be fine this time, unlike 1997 and 2002 floods.
