Hi,
I asked this question in the Cya-forum too, but as we all know, isn't it the easiest place to get help, so i'll trie here. I guess tough, that the Cya-people know the answer best, but if i'm lucky someone here knows it
Where did the Shaders option go?
In PCM 07, i could play in max resolution, max forest, spectators and animations, and with cities. I had low shaders tough.
In 08, it runs far from smoothly even in lowest graphic options. I guess this is because the shader version that is set in the game, is too high for my computer. Can this be fixed in any way?
Hope you understand.
Yeah, shadows are turned off. All the options are turned off, or are on the lowest.
PC Specs:
Processor: AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-52 (2 CPUs), 1.6GHz
Memory: 1918MB RAM
Page File: 1149MB used, 2930MB available
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150
Chip type: GeForce Go 6150
DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC
Display Memory: 394 MB
Dedicated Memory: 122 MB
Shared Memory: 271 MB
Current Mode: 1280 x 800 (32 bit) (59Hz)
Anymore you need to know?
Just to compare, here are a SS from 08:
It actually looks much better on the picture.
And this is from 07:

Maybe you could try to toy around with the GraphicConfig.xml file located in Program Files\Cyanide\Pro Cycling Manager - Season 2008\Shaders\Data. It may help - it may not. Remember to make a back up first. |

By giving a short peek into the Graphicconfig.xml, it turns out that you can turn on High Definition Range. Why havent i noticed that until now?
ninja edit: By turning it on, you can effectively halve your framerate in track mode, but the shadows look pretty good.

Been tweaking:
Shaders version 2.0 activated. Actually ive set it run with 3.0, but i dont think its noticeable at all.
Post-Processing
High Definition Range
Hardware Shadow Mapping
And some standard stuff like shadows and 4x anti-aliasing in the options menu:

Humm, shure? Could not find it there, and it is hard to find with like four different Graphicconfig.xml files |

I was wondering about the advanced options. I just can't figure out why they're not in the menu, silly really.
@Waghlon, how much performance did all those tweaks cost you? |

maybe it's the fact that I have my graphics card forcing maximum settings on the game, but these tweaks had no effect for me.

In track mode, turning on HDR cut the the framerate to below 20. Turning on Post-Processing seemed to raise the framerate back over 20. Hardware shadow mapping didnt really do anything, and forcing it into shaders 2.0 only slowed it slightly.
I havent really tested in road though.

VSProfile is still 1_1
PSProfile was changed to 2_0 and then 3_0 just to see if Cya had added some hidden technical knowhow.
By forcing it into shaders 2.0 means that i was stuck at 1.0 before. But i can confirm that it is working in shaders 2.0, and that using 3.0 doesnt do anything worth noting.

if you put shader renderer to 0, does this mean you've turned shaders off? |
