Intermediate Sprint
These can occur throughout the race, and reward the first 3 riders across with either points towards the points classification or seconds deducted from their racing time or both.
They are normally swept up by riders in the breakaway, but if there isn't any escapees then the peleton will contest them. Top
King of the Mountain (KOM)
Also known as the Best climber, this is the rider who picks up the most cumulative points on mountain sprints. Mountain Sprint
These are normally found at the summits of climbs, and award points to the first riders to cross it, which go towards the Mountain Classification. The most points are awarded to the first ride past the sprint, then points are scaled down as the next riders pass Top
Team Time Trial (TTT)
The same as a time trial, except riders go off at the same time as the rest of there team. This allows team leaders to rest in the slipstream of the others, and time trial specialists to work hard at the front to get the quickest time possible
Time trial
Known also as TT or Individual time trial. When a time trial takes place, the riders set off individually against the clock and the fastest person to finish the stage, wins. Top
