With a big mountain stage on Sunday looming, the time trialing machines took center stage at the 2007 Vuelta a Espana on Saturday. Young Caisse rider Vladimir Efimikin was looking to keep his lead, but that wasn't meant to be as he rode a poor time trial. T-Mobile's Bert Grabsch grabbed the stage win, winning in a time of 57:05, total distance covered was 52.2 kilometers. Stijn Devolder didn't win the stage, but he may have been the biggest winner on the day. He finished third overall on the stage, 48 seconds back of the winner, but he surged into the Gold Jersey lead.

According to the UCI, 52 riders were tested before the stage. No tests came back suspicious, so another clean day of racing. A big mountain stage looms tomorrow, so the GC and climbing boys will be out in full force.
