Thus, Allen Davis is on Discovery, Sevilla/Mancebo are on Relax, Pollack is on Wiesenhof etc. As mentioned, prominent GC contenders who are either retired or “on leave” this year (Ullrich/Landis) are not present in the DB. In addition, there are a number of free riders at the beginning of the game, many of whom are quite good. The up-to-date transfer list is one of the strongest points of this DB. In addition, there is a huge assortment of rider photos, even for free/unsigned riders. This is also one of the strengths of this database. Stats: For my taste, this DB is a little too strong. There are well over 20 riders with 80 + stats for mountains, hills, and sprints/acc respectively. In addition, there are perhaps over 10-15 riders with 80+ average. This would probably make it quite difficult for small Continental teams to compete with ProTour teams with these riders. This observation is a matter of taste: I’m aware that many players like to choose from high numbers of exceptional riders at the beginning of a career. If so, this DB will suit you well! In addition, this DB includes track riders such as Theo Bos, the 1000m track world champion. Thus, you can experiment with having these types of riders on your team if you wish. Stability and Gameplay:
cmfos I only played 2 months on this DB mainly because of gameplay issues. The first race for my team (Benifica) was the Tour of Qatar. For unknown reasons, I could only choose from 7 riders on my team for this race even though all riders were available (i.e. none were in training camps or were injured). An additional difficulty in the second race I played, The Mediterranean Tour, was the inability to progress past stage 3 in 3D mode. The program would repeatedly crash. Thus, I was forced to simulate the stage. These sorts of instability issues for this DB have cropped up on other message boards for other races and thus, I chose not to continue on this DB. However, the newest patch for this DB (patch 2.2) appears to resolve some but not all of these issues. Panaflex The entire first season ran smoothly for I was already using the latest patch 2.2. No gameplay or simulation issues whatsoever - even the results were fairly realistic with Boonen winning most of the cobblestone classics, Cunego gaining the upper hand over Simoni and Savoldelli in Italy and Valverde claiming a rather lopsided TdF. I was confidently heading for my second season, when I experienced serious issues and crashes from Feb. 08 on starting at the Tour Méditerranée and continuing in Paris-Nice.
