108 riders starting in Compiègne for the 'Hell of the North'. Who will take this epic monument in this online meeting?
Three riders in the first break: Van de Walle, Rojas Gil and McEwen.
Than, 175 km from the line, last years winner Johan Vansummeren breaks away to close the gap. Besides him is Valentin Iglinskiy.
Vansummeren and Iglinskiy get it into the break of 7, but the group gets caught with 140 km to go.
100 km to go, and it's clear why we call this monument a hell. About 40 riders are left in the pack.
75 km to go and Martin Elmiger gets away.
Elmiger creates a gap, and this is the situation 50 km after he breaked away. Elmiger in front, than some chasers, than the pack.
Elmiger still leads on the Vélodrome, but is getting empty, and the chasers are in the corner behind him already! Is the AG2R rider going to hold on?
Yes. For the second day in a row, an AI rider wins at the PCM Daily's Spring Classics Season, Elmiger crosses the line in front of guys who still have a lap to go.
