The Application Data folder is mentioned by users very often and most of the time, the people asking the questions can't even find it, this guide will show you how to access it and what you can do in it.
Firstly we need to know how to actually get to the folder. Some people find it harder to find than others, because some people do not have "show hidden folders" enabled, and Application Data is a hidden folder.
To get to the folder wee need to, Go to Start -> Run and then type in %appdata%, this will bring up the Application Data folder.
Alternatively, (if you still can't find it that way) follow these screenshots. Firstly, we need to open up My Computer, this should bring up the following window:
In the above window we need to double-click on the Data (D:) icon which brings up the next screen:
We need to double click on the folder named "Documents and Settings" which will bring up the following:
You will see all the different names enlisted on the computer you are using, do not look for a folder named Adam unless your name is actually Adam, just look for the name that you have PCM installed on.
Open up the folder with the appropriate name on and the next window will look like this:
This is the place where our Application Data folder is, if you can see it at this point then you already have "show hidden folders" enabled and do not need to do the next steps.
If you can't see it, then do as the screen suggests and click on "Tools" and in the drop-down menu click on "Folder Options..." which will bring up a new window:
The window above will open up in the "General" tab and to get the window looking like the above you will need to click on the "View" tab. Once you are there, look in the second section, find the "Show hidden files and folders" and select it as shown above, making sure it has the dot in the circle.
Click on Apply then OK and the Application Data folder should appear like this:
All the hidden folders are shown as a faded-out folder and we need to double-click on the Application Data folder to open up the next window:
Scroll down until you see the "Pro Cycling Manager 2007" folder, double-click it and we have finally opened the folder, which looks like the screenshot below:
Cache Folder
Now that we have located this folder, we can see the Cache folder which is very useful.
After adding graphical updates to the game we need to empty the Cache. This means, we navigate our way to the Cache folder and delete everything inside it. This prevents graphical glitches such as all teams wearing the same jersey etc.
Local.cdb and OriginalLocal.cdb
We also has the Local.cdb and OriginalLocal.cdb in this folder. These two files are editable and change the game in ways such as, adding new injuries, new media questions, new "news items" etc.
Re-installing PCM, not forgeting about Application Data
Those are the main uses for the files inside, but also, many people find that once they have re-installed the game that they can't actually open up the game any more. Deleting files within this folder helps greatly.
When re-installing the game it is reccomended that you follow these steps.
1. Uninstall PCM 2. Delete everything within the C:/Program Files/Cyanide/Pro Cycling Manager 2007 folder. 3. Delete everything within the D:/Documents and Settings/Adam/My Documents/Pro Cycling Manager 2007 folder 4. Delete everything within the D:/Documents and Settings/Adam/Application Data/Pro Cycling Manager 2007 folder 5. Install PCM 6. Install whatever pack(s) you want, if any
