The Installation Guide
One of the most frequent questions is how you install the different updates which are available here at PCM.daily. With this guide, I'm hoping you will understand how to install all our different files.

First of all, most files are packed so they're not as large as they would have been if they were not packed. Therefore you will need a program to unpack the files. I recommend WinRAR which is free to try. It's available here: http://www.rarlabs.com

Now you're ready. You just need to know where to put the files.

As said, most files are packed. For the same reason, it doesn't really matter where you place the file you download. For the sake of convenience you should place any file you download on the desktop. Once the file is done being downloaded, you're ready to install it.

If it's a background you have downloaded it's 99 % sure the file is packed. With the program I mentioned before, WinRAR, you will need to unpack (extract) the package. All backgrounds will have to be extracted to your Program Files\Cyanide\Pro Cycling Manager 2007\Gui\accueil-folder. When asked if you want to overwrite, just click "Yes". Start the game -- and you got yourself a new background!

The installation of database editors can vary from program to program. In the moment this article is written, there's two editors available: Hannes Converter 2.0 and PCM Kicker NG. Hannes Converter 2.0 is easy to install. Download it, double click the .exe-file and follow the instructions given on the screen. It's pretty much all about clicking the Next-button until the program is installed. PCM Kicker NG is a bit different. It's a packed file which needs to be extracted to C:/PCM Kicker. It will not work if you extract it to any other directory.

As with the database editors, the installation of databases varies. It all depends on quite a lot. First of all, there's differences between the file type:
.rar-file, .zip-file: If the file extension is either .rar or .zip it means the database has been packed, and that you will need to extract it with WinRAR
.exe-file: The file has been compressed, and you will need to double click it.

Once you have figured out what type of file it is, we need to install it. If the file is a packed file, open it with WinRAR:
a) Does it contain only one file (f.e OfficialRelease.cdb), then extract it to Program Files\Cyanide\Pro Cycling Manager 2007\Database or My Documents\Pro Cycling Manager 2007\Database
b) It it contains many files, it's probably a pack which needs to be extracted to Program Files\Cyanide\Pro Cycling Manager 2007
c) If it's a .exe-file, double click it and follow the given instructions

In some cases you will need to activate the database in the game. Go to the Options menu in the game, choose the "Database"-tab and see if there's any other database than "OfficialRelease.cdb" available. If there is it's probably the database you have just installed, and you will need to click it to activate it.

Next up are the Official Files. These are files released by Cyanide, the company which has made Pro Cycling Manager. It's all different files with different sets of installation instructions, but most of Cyanide's files are .exe-files. This means that you will just have to double click it and follow the instructions. This applies for all the patches, their GameCenter software and the Demo.

The "Other Graphial Elements" also varies, so here's a simple overview:
Team Jerseys: Extract the package to Program Files\Cyanide\Pro Cycling Manager 2007\CM_Textures\cycliste\team
Mini Team Jerseys: Extract the package to \Program Files\Cyanide\Pro Cycling Manager 2007\Gui\team_shirt
Rider Photos: Extract the package to Program Files\Cyanide\Pro Cycling Manager 2007\Gui\cyclist_photo
Team Logos: Extract the package to Program Files\Cyanide\Pro Cycling Manager 2007\Gui\team\logo
Race Logos: Extract the package to Program Files\Cyanide\Pro Cycling Manager 2007\Gui\race_logo

Stage Editors are quite unusual, so luckily for us there's not much confusion on that front. Currently, only RSM Profiler is available. It's a packed file, so you will need to extract it. Just extract it to wherever you want and click the .exe-file - and you're good to go.

Last, but not least, there's the Stages. Usually, they're packed into .rar-files. That means you will have to extract them. All stages files shall be placed in Program Files\Cyanide\Pro Cycling Manager 2007\CM_Stages

That's it! If you have any files which don't fit into any of the above categories, try checking the file description. It might contain an installation guide. If you still can't install it, feel very free to ask on our forum.
