CrueTrue steps down
News

Everything has to come to an end eventually. The same goes for my tenure here at PCM.daily. And in my case, ‘eventually’ is just around the corner.

I’d like to take this opportunity to announce that I will be stepping down as an admin per 1st of June. This also means that a new owner will be taking over the leadership of the site from this date.

His name is Dale – registered as DW48 here – he’s from USA, works as a computer programmer, is a softball enthusiast and already runs several other communities – as of today, this includes PCM.daily.

In order to support Dale as well as possible, SportingNonsense will be taking over the role as the day to day leader of PCM.daily.

I’d also like to say that it’s been an absolute pleasure to be among you guys, making this great community together. I can honestly say that what we’ve done stands among my proudest moments in life.

I pressed the launch button from a hotel room in New York back in 2006, skipping a trip to the Empire State Building. Back then you could barely find any information about Pro Cycling Manager in English – we’ve come an extremely long way since…

News is just a minor part in all this, though. I’m way more proud of the community we’ve established together. So many nationalities, so many different age groups, yet still somehow keeping a high level of debate while also allowing the banter and fun that’s essential to any community. This is what I rate highest personally, and I’d like to thank every one of you for making this possible.

Needless to say, I love this community, I love this site. It’s been my baby for so many years, and letting it go is an extremely difficult decision. However, it is also the right decision.

I’ve come to a point where PCM.daily feels like more than a hobby. I don’t always visit PCM.daily, because I want to, but because I have to. And the days where I don’t log-on, the guilt feeling comes creeping. That’s a pretty unfortunate way to feel about something that’s supposed to be a hobby.

This has a lot to do with the fact that I now work more than full time – and always during the big cycling events. Ultimately, though, time is a matter of priorities. And it's evident I haven't prioritized PCM.daily as high as I have previously.

With Dale and SportingNonsense in charge, I’m confident that the site will be in better hands and continue to progress as the world’s leading Pro Cycling Manager resource. And I certainly hope that all of you will continue to contribute and be as supportive as you’ve been in all my years at this site.

Lastly, I’d like to add that we will be considering new additions to the crew. More info about this is to be announced later this week.

Very lastly, thank you for everything. Please don’t say ‘goodbye’, as I will stay here as a regular member as long as Thomas Dekker hasn’t won the Tour de France in the ManGame.

Im so sad but happy for you mate you were a legend for this site look at all the comments it proves how well liked you are. Hope you have a happy retirement heheWink. And good luck too.
#32 | Eden95 on 30. April 2014 02:28
Well. This was interesting to wake up to.
#33 | Atlantius on 30. April 2014 06:16
Some surprising and sad news, but I guess I can understand.

This have to be a fun place for everyone and not a source of stress and frustration - and better to have the site change hands now than CT starting to neglect it due to lack of time/motivation.

Also welcome to DW. You have some good admins to support your start here on our lovely corner of the internet.
#34 | Avin Wargunnson on 30. April 2014 06:29
Oh, i have not expected that, but it sounds very reasonable, when you have less and less time CT, i hope i will see you in few years as one of the leading sport journalists! Smile

Thanks for creating this lovely place, that gives me so much fun and entertain my life. That goes for databases and advices on PCM in the first step and later chance to join "SNs baby" man-game and be part of this friendly community.

I dont know how it is in surroundings of all you people, but my love for cycling and cycling manager (playing since 2006 edition) was seen as freakish by everybody i know in person. Especially because of that, this place means so much to me, because here we are all freaks Pfft
I know this is only internet webpage, but i feel i found some real friends here and it differs so much from any other forums i ever visited.

I am not worried about future without long time master (and forever one) with people like SN and his team of administrators leading the herd.

Also welcome DW, i have never played softball, but maybe we can teach some things about that. Grin

See you in the man-gaame CT, i will cheer for Dekker's opponents as much as i can. Pfft
#35 | weirdskyfan64 on 30. April 2014 07:29
I agree with Avin-my friends roll their eyes when I talk about cycling. I've finally found people who know what they're talking about.
And they still roll their eyes...
#36 | Jakstar22 on 30. April 2014 07:32
Its gonna be really said to see you go CT. Ever since I have been on the site you have been the Admin. It was always a pleasure to see you post on a thread and when you PMed me that time. Wow that was special. Even though it wasnt for a good reason......Stupid big banners Sad

Im sure Dale and SportingNonsense will be great as long as I don't pick a fight with SP again......remember that Wink

I am also looking forward to the new admin (hoping its me Wink ) it will be cool to see who the new additions will be Smile
#37 | Cycleman123 on 30. April 2014 09:08
Thank you so much Crue. You've managed to create such a wonderful community here, and I'm sure your work will live on. Hopefully you'll still be here somewhat still though. Also, good luck to Dale and SportingNonsense.
#38 | CountArach on 30. April 2014 09:11
Well that wasn't expected but thank you for being so forward about the whole thing. I've been in that situation where logging on to a forum becomes a job rather than a hobby and it can really sap your will to contribute. I am glad you'll be sticking around though. Thanks for everything you have built here - I spend more time on this site than is healthy and I love the community (plus where else would I talk about cycling as much and as openly as I can here?).

Welcome Dale/DW. I hope we will see you around this community quite a bit. We have a great group of people here and I am sure you will be able to contribute. If there is anything that you need from us just let us know and we will undoubtedly help. This place is a home for a lot of us.

EDIT: Oh and of course good luck when it comes to Tour de France time - you will undoubtedly have fun watching the servers melt.
#39 | ggDonovan on 30. April 2014 09:12
Thanks Mike for all the hours, effort and dedication you teach us in all these years. Enjoy this well deserved "retirement", focus on your career and savour the live as a regular member (you can start now criticizing as much as you want the admins and all other members  )

Welcome Dale, I'm sure that with your experience, you will be a source of new ideas that will even improve how the site is. Trust SN, your XO, as he is the go to guy and I hope to see you next year in MG. Wink

Cheers!
#40 | Dippofix on 30. April 2014 09:25
Wow, that's some sad news. Shock

Though i have to say, i'm a bit disappointed of you too. I mean, where was the "thanking friends and family, without them this would have been impossible, they're the real heros" bit? And the tears? Everyone knows you need to suddenly break out in tears at least two or three times doing something like this. Amateur. Pfft

But seriously, thanks for the great work you've done, without you, this whole community just wouldn't exist. I think you didn't only make an English PCM site, i think you made the best PCM site of all. I think when you see people from Holland, Belgium or Denmark on here, that actually have their own communities, where they could speak their mother tongue, this becomes quite obvious.

And also, i'd like to welcome Dale, and congratulate SN. Wink
#41 | cunego59 on 30. April 2014 10:26
Wow.

I'd like to join all those thanking you for what you've created here, CrueTrue. This is by far the best online community I had the pleasure of being part of, and I've been in many Wink Like many others have said, this has become a home, at least an online home, and the way you and the whole team have managed this site is remarkable.

That said, I can only agree with you in saying that I'm sure the site is in the best hands possible.

Also: Welcome, Dale! You've come to a great place Wink
#42 | Gustavovskiy on 30. April 2014 10:53
Well, thanks for everything CT. Daily is a remarkable project and I can't begin to imagine how proud you feel about it. I can only say it's been an absolute blast since the day I found this website and found all the resources provided to enhance my PCM experience. Not only that but finding people with whom you can have a good discussion both about the game and real-life cycling have been the mesmerising features of this website which have lead me to place it as #1 in my favourites. And even though I haven't the same availability to the site and the community I had a few years ago, it's still hard for me not to click this page before any other when opening my browser Pfft

Thanks you so much for creating this and leading it through all these years. I'll be expecting your ass on the Man-Game conference rooms Wink

Also good luck to both SN and DW. SN is the perfect choice to the position I guess, with all the expertise gathered through these years as an admin. I'm sure he'll do just fine. As to DW, it's obviously difficult to make a judgement without knowing him, but having a guy named Dale running the Daily can only be seen as both funny and a good premonition for the years to come under his rule.
#43 | andy222c on 30. April 2014 12:20
By far the best community i've been a part of, and that doesn't come by itself. I know you've done a great deal of work to get it this far and your work has defintely been worth it all! Thanks CrueTrue! And also welcome and good luck to Dale Wink
#44 | MitchNL on 30. April 2014 14:24
I totally did not expect this. Shock

Anyway, thanks for all the work and effort CT, and welcome Dale! Smile
#45 | maxime86 on 30. April 2014 15:05
Thank you for everything you'v done for this site CT, I wish DW and SN the best of luck!
#46 | Strydz on 30. April 2014 15:08
Cheers for setting up this community CT, I 1st came here for advice on PCM but no longer play it and just enjoy being involved in this little community. This is one of the rare cycling related sites where you can get good debate and news without a whole heap of rubbish. Great job buddy you did goodWink
#47 | Schleck96 on 30. April 2014 15:14
First Pelli, now Crue.... what have I missed around here? :S o.O
Anyways, I just hope that you guys keep being active around here, and I would like to show my appreciation to Crue, because he did an amazing job. 3 and a half years since I registered myself here and there was not a single moment where I could point a finger to his work. For that, thank you very much Smile

Also, my best wishes to DW Grin
#48 | Kami on 30. April 2014 20:00
Can't really say much more then the things that have been said before me, except for another big 'thank you'!

SN should do a great job, and also welcome to Dale!
#49 | deek12345 on 30. April 2014 21:55
all the best in the future CT
#50 | Firefly21 on 30. April 2014 22:09
Thanks for all the hard work CT.

I randomly bought Cycling Manager on a whim a few years ago and as someone who did not have a background in cycling I found myself searching for guides to get the most of my new purchase and found myself here.

Now I wake up early in the morning to watch cycling from Europe and I have yet another hobby to occupy my time.

Thanks for all you've done.
#51 | Guido Mukk on 30. April 2014 22:32
My first sign in was at 2007...SN was already here. Isso was registered 15min. before me. Always "anoying" ruben was already here.
It has been great time..it really is. All these databases..energy ..nice.
So much has changed at the world/cycling/personal life. But Mike was always here. Thanks for that.
#52 | Smowz on 30. April 2014 22:57
Sad but understandable news.

Thank you for all you have done here. have played cm/pcm for such a long time what a great site this is!
#53 | baia on 01. May 2014 11:30

Like Guido( and few others), i´m here since 2007 and it has been a pleasure to belong to this great community, i´m really thankfull for all you have done for us all CT. Wish you all the best. Wink
SN is a great choice, i´m sure he will keep this amazing community together,.. welcome DW and good luck. Wink
#54 | DubbelDekker on 01. May 2014 15:19
Thanks for building this great community, Mike! Very impressive.

Good luck to DW and SN.
I think with SN and a programmer the site is in good hands.
#55 | Selwink on 01. May 2014 15:58
Thanks a lot for all work done here. Now I have a good reason to hope Dekker will never win the TDF in the MG
#56 | AaB-ern on 01. May 2014 18:04
#54: Hey, the site has always been in the hands of a programmer! Wink
#57 | CrueTrue on 01. May 2014 21:34
If I ever need an ego boost, I'll just re-visit this comments thread. Thanks, guys.
#58 | baseballlover312 on 01. May 2014 23:14
When you deserve it, you deserve it. Smile

BTW is this the most commented article ever on Daily? I would think...
#59 | SportingNonsense on 02. May 2014 00:28
#58 I think this might be: https://www.pcmdaily.com/news.php?read...admore=585 107 comments.
#60 | kimiopn on 02. May 2014 12:55
First Pelli and now CT himself are leaving their "jobs" here. Fortunately you guys did such a good job with this site, building a community and a family here that are going to keep this going. A good example of that is the amount of people supporting every project on every subject that comes up here. Like many others i came here firstly in search of a db that changed real names and ended up to wanting to be a part of your international family.

A big thank you to CrueTrue, i wish you the best of luck!
