CrueTrue steps down
News

Everything has to come to an end eventually. The same goes for my tenure here at PCM.daily. And in my case, ‘eventually’ is just around the corner.

I’d like to take this opportunity to announce that I will be stepping down as an admin per 1st of June. This also means that a new owner will be taking over the leadership of the site from this date.

His name is Dale – registered as DW48 here – he’s from USA, works as a computer programmer, is a softball enthusiast and already runs several other communities – as of today, this includes PCM.daily.

In order to support Dale as well as possible, SportingNonsense will be taking over the role as the day to day leader of PCM.daily.

I’d also like to say that it’s been an absolute pleasure to be among you guys, making this great community together. I can honestly say that what we’ve done stands among my proudest moments in life.

I pressed the launch button from a hotel room in New York back in 2006, skipping a trip to the Empire State Building. Back then you could barely find any information about Pro Cycling Manager in English – we’ve come an extremely long way since…

News is just a minor part in all this, though. I’m way more proud of the community we’ve established together. So many nationalities, so many different age groups, yet still somehow keeping a high level of debate while also allowing the banter and fun that’s essential to any community. This is what I rate highest personally, and I’d like to thank every one of you for making this possible.

Needless to say, I love this community, I love this site. It’s been my baby for so many years, and letting it go is an extremely difficult decision. However, it is also the right decision.

I’ve come to a point where PCM.daily feels like more than a hobby. I don’t always visit PCM.daily, because I want to, but because I have to. And the days where I don’t log-on, the guilt feeling comes creeping. That’s a pretty unfortunate way to feel about something that’s supposed to be a hobby.

This has a lot to do with the fact that I now work more than full time – and always during the big cycling events. Ultimately, though, time is a matter of priorities. And it's evident I haven't prioritized PCM.daily as high as I have previously.

With Dale and SportingNonsense in charge, I’m confident that the site will be in better hands and continue to progress as the world’s leading Pro Cycling Manager resource. And I certainly hope that all of you will continue to contribute and be as supportive as you’ve been in all my years at this site.

Lastly, I’d like to add that we will be considering new additions to the crew. More info about this is to be announced later this week.

Very lastly, thank you for everything. Please don’t say ‘goodbye’, as I will stay here as a regular member as long as Thomas Dekker hasn’t won the Tour de France in the ManGame.

Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock
That's huge news. I suppose it's sad news Sad Sad
Though I'd like to welcome Dale as well.
Thanks for all the great years, Crue, though it has to be said that I only was here for less than 2 years.
I think it's the right decision for you. It's definitely not an easy decision though.
Also, good luck to SportingNonsense as well. I already noticed he was moved up to Super Administrator. Huge step up for him as well.

Oh, and because I can't resist:

Sad news. Thank you for creating this wonderful community. I'm guessing we should be cheering for anyone but Dekker in the ManGame now Pfft

I'm sure SN will live up to the expectations.

And Dale, welcome Smile

Wow, thanks for everything you've done for the site. It taught me everything I know about cycling, and you built an incredible community here. Good luck to dale and SN running things in the future.

And don't worry, Madrazo will force you to stick around for a long time.

Wow.
You've build an amazing community with all of us and it's great to hear you'll still be part of it.
Thanks for so much and enjoy "retirement" on PCM.Daily Wink

SportingNonsense will do a great job, and I'm sure Dale will, too!

I didn't expect this :/

#7 Did a single person bet on Dale? Wow, great job. You should be a bookie in real life!

In all seriousness it will be a bit odd to have the super admin be new to the site himself. All through the years I've viewed Cruetrue as the top guy because he was. He was the first member of the site and had the most posts, etc, so it was easy to see him see him as the head of the site.

It will be strange to have someone much much newer be in that position. Perhaps someone not so associated with the content of the community itself.

But with SN involved I'm sure it will be a success. Good luck in everything you wish to succeed in Cruetrue. you couldn't have been a better leader for the community!
#11 | Jesleyh on 29. April 2014 20:31
#7 Does this count as the new admin? I don't think so Wink
Lastly, I’d like to add that we will be considering new additions to the crew

Still there Wink
#12 | TheManxMissile on 29. April 2014 20:33
#10 Nope Wink

#11 Is Dale a new Admin, yes. Therefore i win all the moneys!
#13 | jph27 on 29. April 2014 20:38
Thanks Crue for everything, will be strange without you in charge. Good luck to SN and DW48, who I'm sure are the right people to carry on Crue True's good work. Smile
#14 | valverde321 on 29. April 2014 20:43
Pretty big news. Im really glad that you built this community. I think many of us have spent a lot (maybe too much) time here, and I think the whole community gets along really well here, something you dont always see, other places. A big thanks to you for it all! And thanks for recommending Friday Night Lights Pfft

And #1, the Americans aren't taking over, because Crue is basically an American anyway. Pfft He launched the site in New York and he plays American Football. Doesn't get any more American than that Pfft
#15 | admirschleck on 29. April 2014 20:52
Woah, that's some huge news! Thank you for absolutely the best forum on internet, you should be really proud of what you've managed to make here. More than 90k users, few thousands of great guys and much more.

It will be interesting to see how will Dale take over the site, since I am sure SN knows what he's doing. Thanks for everything CT, once again.
#16 | ruben on 29. April 2014 21:04
That will take some time to get used to. Hard to see PCM.Daily aside from Crue! But I can imagine the feeling..
#17 | SSJ2Luigi on 29. April 2014 21:15
CrueTrue was the PCMdaily leader?
why leader, are we some secret (terrorist) organistation planning world domination or something.
#18 | Stromeon on 29. April 2014 21:26
Wow that was unexpected Shock Very sad to hear that you are stepping down, you've done a wonderful job in creating and then maintaining the community over a long period of time. I guess we all owe you a massive thanks Smile
#19 | Ste117 on 29. April 2014 21:27
Crue, what a job you have done with this site, I joined back in 2009 and this site quickly came on of my favourites. To build an community empire like this is incredible. I'm sad to see you step down but I am happy to hear you will be sticking around. Thank you for starting this site as without it I would have no where to talk about PCM and download the best DB's created for game Smile
#20 | jt1109 on 29. April 2014 22:03
thank you for everything I can't really remember how i stumbled across this site 6 years ago now but it has been every day since then, the most useful resources, the most helpful community and the best place for databases thanks for all the work
#21 | NTTHRASH on 29. April 2014 22:35
*sits down and cries*

Well, I hate to see you go. Thank you for helping me settle in to the cycling community; helping me get to know people better, even if not directly. Though I may have only started in the end of 2012, after purchasing PCM. I'm extremely proud to say that I am a member of the site you've built here. Through 6 server changes, 3 new admins, and now this, CT, forever the #1 Site Admin.

On the upside, now you can't see Morten and I talking about CME. Angry
#22 | SportingNonsense on 29. April 2014 22:40
It will be weird to see CT not being an admin anymore, after all the great work he has done since day 1 at PCM.daily. I remember having to use a translation website to try and ask for TTT help as a PCM noob on PCM 2005, and then seeing this guy called 'CrueTrue' posting quite a bit on the Cyanide forum, and linking to this English speaking website. And here we are now.

Never really expected to have an increase in admin role here, but happy to give it a go. The community largely runs itself so it's all about the usual admin role of deleting spambots, coming up with new ideas for site initiatives, and maintaining the current ones.

Admin applications will be going up later in the week, so if you want to get involved with the site, and have a few ideas for what you would like to do, then now is the perfect time!
#23 | Christer on 29. April 2014 22:42
CT stepping down.. It's the end of an era! Seriously. Not really much to say, except a big thank you for making the site and drifting it for all these years. I still remember some of the few conversations we have had. You have done a great job with the site and the community here, and I am glad to be a part of it. Thank you. Smile
#24 | baseballlover312 on 29. April 2014 23:02
Guys I have something even more scary. 547984 can predict the future. In a Skype call to me yesterday as we were discussing SN's promotion he said this to me.

[SN is super admin?] I guess Crue can retire now. Tomorrow he will step down.

How did he predict this of all things? ARE THERE SPIES AMONG US? Shock
#25 | 547984 on 29. April 2014 23:10
#24: xD

This is certainly a big page that is turned in PCM Daily history, no doubt...surely SN will do a good job, he has tons of experience.

I only hope that the DB quality and unwritten rules on the site will not change, by far the most important parts for me. I am confident in Dale as well as the excellent members we have here (JEsleyh Pfft) we will continue making this site better as we try to hit 100k members.

Hello, my name is Dale (DW48) and I am the new owner. I would like to give a big THANK YOU you to CrueTrue (Mike) for building such a strong community. I was drawn to the size and expertise that this community possesses and am a fan of all sports.

As the new owner I will put my trust in the current admins and SportingNonsense as I learn and grow with the site.

I own a couple of other web properties that I will speak to in the future and being from the United States it should give us a few more hours of admin coverage each day.

For now, I will just enjoy reading all of your posts thanking CrueTrue who deserves the accolades that he is receiving and together we will make the transition seamless.

It is business as usual for PCMDaily.com!
DW

And everyone can just call me DW or DW48.
#27 | MrUfo87 on 29. April 2014 23:42
Thanks for all the things you've done CrueTrue! It'll be strange indeed to see you without your super administrator authority. You can be proud with your effort; a community with almost 100.000 members! Once again, thanks!

And welcome Dale! I wish you the best of luck with your new function here!
#28 | Shonak on 29. April 2014 23:56
Thank you CrueTrue for some amazing work. You've built an outstanding community. Welcome DW48 and congrats SN!
#29 | jseadog1 on 30. April 2014 00:02
Thank you for everything you have done here!

Now watch out boys.. USA in charge Pfft

Somehow, now that I read this again, this is more deep than it should be for me...
