PCM - Giro 2011 announced
Pro Cycling Manager 2010

According to the Italian website multiplayer.it, Halifax, the Italian distributor of Pro Cycling Manager, will release a special Giro d'Italia 2011 version of Pro Cycling Manager 2010. It's set to be released at the beginning of this year's Giro d'Italia that takes place in May.

With the version, you will get a 2011 database along with the 2011 Giro d'Italia stages. And perhaps more interesting (for the Italian customers), a pair of Italian commentators will make its way to PCM, voiced by Andrea de Luca and the more familiar Paolo Savoldelli.

Obviously, the screenshots aren't really new, neither is the trailer, but hey - it's worth taking a look anyway.

Whether it's enough to persuade the Italians to buy PCM10 - well, that will be interesting.

(Originally, this article confused this announcement with Pro Cycling Manager 2011. You can read the original article by clicking Read More)

Thanks to Emmea for the tip.

Original article:

For as far as I can remember, Pro Cycling Manager has been released around the end of June, often on the 20th.

However, that may now change, according to the Italian website multiplayer.it. The site states that the game (or at least the Italian version of it) will be renamed to "Pro Cycling Manager - Tour of Italy 2011" and is set to be released "at the start of the Giro d'Italia".

Does that sound crazy to you? Perhaps, but the information is backed up byanother website.

The two sites also reveal that Italian commentators will be included, voiced by Andrea de Luca and the more familiar Paolo Savoldelli.

And lastly, but perhaps just as important, the websites also present a bunch of screenshots and a trailer, the first for Pro Cycling Manager 2011 (or, well, Pro Cycling Manager - Giro d'Italia 2011).

We're still unsure whether this is a special Italian version of the game. In theory, it could be a limited version, sort of like the Gran Turismo: Prologue for Playstation 3. It could also be PCM10, but with a 2011 DB, the 2011 Giro-stages and Italian commentators - we don't know yet, but we'll be trying to get in contact with Cyanide and get a proper response.

Update: To Cycling-Manager.eu, Clément Pinget, who's the Project Manager of PCM, says that he do not wish to comment right now, but that "it's not Pro Cycling Manager 2011". Oh well - anything else would have been quite sensational.

Thanks to Emmea for the tip.

Sounds really crazy to me (the new name) and I don't think it will be released in 2 months
#2 | CrueTrue on 03. March 2011 20:07
I'm leaning towards the idea that it's some sort of Special Edition of PCM10 for the Italians, including a 2011 DB, 2011 Giro d'Italia stages and the Italian commentators.
#3 | evilhumer on 03. March 2011 20:09
Thats what it looks like on the trailer. Completely simular to pcm10
#4 | alexkr00 on 03. March 2011 20:14
I haven't played PCM10 too much but I think the screenshots look exactly like PCM 10

EDIT: since the title also says "PCM - Giro 2011" and not "PCM 2011 - Giro", it's most likely like CT said, PCM 10 with 2011 DB and special features for the Giro.
#5 | CrueTrue on 03. March 2011 20:16
News article updated - it's not PCM11.
#6 | emmea90 on 03. March 2011 20:20
They put daily pack and el diablo italian comment and make it pay?
#7 | CrueTrue on 03. March 2011 20:25
Article updated to reflect what the product (probably) is Wink
#8 | emmea90 on 03. March 2011 20:37
You are a Master of Gran Turismo?
#9 | valverde321 on 03. March 2011 20:40
I think this will be easily manipulated!

Couldn't you just get someone that bought the Giro Version to share the commentaries and database, say on a server so that every italian can just d/l those files instead of buying the game again?
#10 | fenian_1234 on 03. March 2011 20:47
Wonder if this version will be exactly the same as the previous version or will it have a further 'patch applied to it?
#11 | bubbadj on 03. March 2011 20:49
Please read this new freire's interview

If its really PCM 10:
Come on cyanide, this could've easily been some DLC.
If its PCM 11:
Why don't you put it in the original game?

I'll wait for more infos before i start ranting.
#13 | CrueTrue on 03. March 2011 21:14
Well, it's not PCM11 - that's for sure.
#14 | OlegTinkov on 03. March 2011 21:31
Funny, funny, now I know why freire was asking for the ZCTS of the giro stages made by community Shock

So if it ain't free it is kind of ...... ..

does anyone wanna buy my A.S.O.DB2010? Pfft
#15 | felix_29 on 03. March 2011 21:33
They only want to get money sell old things with a new name (some minor features may be added). That´s what it looks like for me.
#16 | EintrachtFan on 03. March 2011 21:36
Anyway, i don't know if this is worth all the trouble, they should concentrate more on pcm 11.
Ok, if it helps them getting forward on the italian market i would understand it somehow, but i just don't see it.
But yet again, i'll wait for more infos.
#17 | Waghlon on 03. March 2011 21:50
Hold it right there OlegTinkov! I demand 5% royalties from any sale you do!
#18 | valverde321 on 03. March 2011 21:51
Maybe it will be used to show everyone that they fixed the AI, so they can get more buyers for PCM11.

You do realise this is Cyanide we're talking about it?
#20 | CrueTrue on 03. March 2011 21:58
Confirmation from Clément Pinget: "It's PCM2010 specific version Giro (2011 DB + Giro '11 stages and Italian commentators)."
#21 | valverde321 on 03. March 2011 21:59
You do realise this is Cyanide we're talking about it?

Oh wait Cyanide makes this game? Pfft
#22 | OlegTinkov on 03. March 2011 22:02
No problem Waghlon! I will even raise it to 10% if you want to be my Marketing Manager Extraordinaire, also the name of my next db will change into "A.S.O.DB2011 powered by Waghlon"
#23 | FreireCyanide on 03. March 2011 22:05
PCM Giro version is PCM10+italian commentators+2011 db+giro 2011. no more.

C'mon guys!
is making a version of PCM2010 for Giro a problem for PCM11 ?
i don't think so. that's the opposite.

we're doing crazy things for PCM11 (AI, gameplay and ergonomy especially...not talking about all other things of course) and some should better close their mouth before bullshiting.

this is a product to make more Italian discover the game, not something to cut our PCM11 budget!

if some of you don't want to help on the stages, that's their right but later you should not say that we do not have lots of different stages.
Giro stages are first for PCM11, not for the Giro di Italia version. Of course we'll re-use them for this version.
#24 | FreireCyanide on 03. March 2011 22:08
to all the guys who are always complaning and say it's for money : take some time to create your company (like failerFX tried Grin) and just do it, no ?
if it's so easy to criticize, it should be easy to make it better.
#25 | emmea90 on 03. March 2011 22:17
Will some features be used also in pcm 11? (example, italian commentator)
#26 | OlegTinkov on 03. March 2011 22:57
@Freire if you say that making a Giro version of PCM2010 is not a problem for PCM11 then that is great news, nobody is complaining, skeptical is more the word I think and as far as I know all stages makers are giving you the needed files when you asked for it. But to say a customer can't be disappointed if a game lacks content, because he didn't deliver the stages himself is kind of... strange.

PCM10 had some difficult start up months with all the bugs (more than normal) and because of that some users are frustrated, but the majority of community is still supporting you very much. So to categorize this as "bullshiting", is not fair in my opinion. For PCM10 the expectations were (maybe too) high, we all want a good cycling game so we all hope that this time the AI and gameplay is spot on!

The general reactions about this news is: suprising and as far as the info goes, it seems like DLC that everyone who bought PCM10 should be able to enjoy (or will it be released in Italy only). To conclude I think the skeptical voices in the PCMcommunity are helping Cyanide as a company, for example would there have been a Patch 1.0.4.1/1.0.4.2 without the complaining, I don't know, all I can say is I'm happy that it came.

Bytheway, if this bullshiting/complaining thing is the new strategy of Cyanide to communicate with the community, and it's based on the "you-can't-come-in" technique of Cartman ("Cartmanland" episode 71), then I applaud you BIG TIME!

Greetz,

OlegTinkov

a skeptical customer since day one and still willing to open his wallet for the 11th time this summer!
(not to be confused with a bullshiting complainer Wink)
#27 | EintrachtFan on 03. March 2011 23:04
First of all: I believe i have the freedom of opinion, don't i? As long as i stay respectful, what i expect from your side too. No ones bullshitting here.

I really understand that you want to explore the italian market and i'm completely fine with that, i even would support you guys (if i had the time).
But: Why putting efforts into making a update for PCM 2010, if PCM 2011 is just round the corner? At least i think it is, we don't get that many infos about the new game until now.

And don't tell me seriously, that this doesn't take away time from at least one person in your company. That's why i don't think it won't affect the work on PCM11.

You're saying you're doing 'crazy things' for PCM11. That's great, but then you really need every time you can get, to make these things right. And i mean right to the release, not after 4-5 patches. I'm tired of that.

I know it's hard to make a game, but sometimes when i think you guys are on the right track, you somehow lose it again.
And i'm not even saying that you work bad, PCM09 and PCM06 were highly enjoyable games.

I'm just curious about some steps you are or are not doing.

So i'm just wondering: If PCM 2011 release is just a few months short, why not doing the special version for PCM 2011? Or just naming the real PCM 2011 like the giro game. I mean it would have a 2011 db, the 2011 giro stages and if you add the commentary, also the commentary.

Anyway, I, as a fan but also as a customer, only sees the end product. And after the last edition you lost a lot of credit from me again, as it took you once again a few patches to make a game at least a bit playable (which i still don't really think is).
And i don't know if releasing the special edition is helpful in doing it better this time, but of course you can prove me wrong. It's just that i don't set my hopes too high at that.

Respect to Freire for the failerFx comment! Cool
#29 | roturn on 04. March 2011 04:49
Also liked his definition Wink
But wait, the countdown is still running isn`t it?`

As long as PCM2011 won`t get inflicted by this extra version and will be playable with a good AI/gameplay/realism... I am happy with it.

I'd buy anything powered by Waghlon. Wink
