From mountains to hills - and 2 very steep ones at that. Theres also a few small hills right at the finish which could play their part.
And fancying their chances after 2 mountain stages, 13 men go with the break
Claeys, Coenen, Vastaranta, Kroon, Mangel, Deroo, Garzelli, Brandt, De Gendt, Mehr-Wenige, Caruso, Hopman and Bellis
All 13 men are intact as Vastaranta, Claeys and Bellis lead over the first climb
But behind them the work of David de la Fuente has ripped the pack apart, down to just 53 riders
Danilo di Luca and Michael Rogers take over on the flat with help from a couple of Lipton riders including Niemiec. It certainly looks like Cunego and Sella are wanting a weakened group ahead of their presumably planned attacks
Onto the 2nd of the really steep climbs, the break splits with only Claeys, Brandt, Vastaranta and Bellis survivng, before becoming just Claeys and Brandt with the catch imminent
1.5km to the top and we have attacks from Casar, Cataldo, Devolder and Barredo
Anton, Rujano, Nibali and Ardila also attack as Cataldo edges out Devolder for first over the top, with Casar 3rd
Sella attacks now as Pellizotti also attacks after the summit
Pellizotti continues his attack into the descent and is the only rider to get away
The World Champion's lead is up to 50 seconds with 30km as Cunego looks to attack on a less severe part of the descent
Karpets, Iglinski and Casar follow him
Pellizotti still leads by 50 seconds with 20km to go
He is chased by the Cunego group of 4 with Lovkvist at just over a minute and a group of 23 at 1'40.
Part of those 23 is Ricco - he may have hoped to take the race lead today but faces the possibility of losing ground on Cunego - and he attacks with 15km to go
Ahead of him Cunego is on fire though. He isnt letting anyone else relay - which the other 3 will be quite happy about - as he powers along, closing in on Pellizotti. He has a great chance of gaining time on Ricco, Pozzovivvo and Sella here.
Pellizotti's lead is down to 20 seconds with 10km to go
Ricco, Barredo, Lovkvist, Anton and Di Luca are 1'13 behind the World Champ with Nocentini, Cataldo, Sella, Devolder, Bakelandts and Rogers just behind them
With 5km to go, Cunego has brought his group up to the wheel of Pellizotti
Di Luca chases solo behind, ahead of Ricco, Devolder and Sella
Noone has yet passed Pellizotti though as the sprint begins with 2km to go
Cunego is the favourite to win this and is locked on to Pellizotti, waiting to pounce, but he had better be careful as Karpets and Iglinski make their moves from the back
Iglinski moves into the lead
Cunego at last makes his move but Iglinski is pulling away
And Maxim Iglinski wins the stage! A great sprint by the Kazakh champion, ahead of Karpets, Cunego, Casar and teammate Pellizotti
Di Luca was caught in the final km by Ricco, Sella and Devolder as Ricco takes 6th, 54 seconds behind
Nibali takes 10th to lead in a group of 18 - it is without Solis and Rodrigues though as the Young Riders jersey already seems down to Cataldo, Lovkvist and Nibali.
