Even though at a first look it doesn't look too demanding there are some hilly stages that should make the difference for the overall rankings, specially the 7th stage. So the puncheurs are the favourites to take the overall win home. Visconti, Hermans, Roche, Valjavec and even Vorganov, Ljungblad or Bosisio are the favourites and any other winner except those will be a pretty big surprise.
Most of the stages are made for sprinters. The strongest sprinter seems to be Swift, but Petacchi, Mohs, Renshaw, Castenada, Gajek, Trusov and a lot other good sprinters are also aiming for a stage win here, in Ireland.

There's a better field than I was expecting here.
I am hoping my Irish contingent will put in a good showing - and the two Italians put the icing on the cake with a stage win or two. Will be more difficult than I was expecting. |

Gavazzi looks up for the green jersey.
Those two hills just before the finish in the next stage should really break things up. A non-sprinter for the sprint maybe. |

Thats why Stage 1 victory is always good, I get decent ranking pts on Stage 2 despite a hopeless sprint

I just know Vespa are going to end up riding for Gavazzi in the hilly stages.
By the way, if you criticize someone's English, you should at least spell sentence correctly.

I guess he had more energy left as he made a small attack just to join the group on the last hill, while the others were attacking again and again between the two hills

Hmmm so close...We have been right there at the top all season though so good job Visconti.
Edit following Stage 6:
Minard does enough for the points jersey tomorrow, here is hoping he can hold onto it.
