Tour de Romandie - Stage 4
mrlol

Time for the second time trial of the race: it’s the ‘long’ one today. 19 km around Sion, including a 2.5km hill at 8%. This should make some changes in the GC, and although the race can’t be won here due to the small length; it can be lost. Rogers and Coppel are the logical favourites again, although the hill migth favour the likes of Gesink.

To Ian Stannard the honour to set a first proper time: 28’03 over 19km: You can see its not a fast TT.

i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/mrlol_pcm/Man%20Game/Tour%20de%20Romandie/rom401.png

Then Jacob Fiedler came, and at the checkpoint he was 2 seconds slower. Now, going into the decent he’s looking much better: -‘3 at the finish!

i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/mrlol_pcm/Man%20Game/Tour%20de%20Romandie/rom402.png

After Fiedler, not much happend until we reached the top 30. It’s time for Nibali to take off, and many top guns right behind him.

i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/mrlol_pcm/Man%20Game/Tour%20de%20Romandie/rom403.png

And Nibali lives up to his manager’s expectations: -’18 at the intermediate point!
Right behind him was Kashechkin though, and he is one second faster on top of the hill!

i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/mrlol_pcm/Man%20Game/Tour%20de%20Romandie/rom404.png

It’s now time for Rogers to start his race: after winning the proloque, he’s the person everybody is looking at.
Nibali and Kashechkin have meanwhile reached the finish: Nibali beats Fiedlers time by 25 seconds, and suprizingly, Kashechkin has exactly the time! Looking at the hundreds of a second though, Kashechkin comes out as winner.

i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/mrlol_pcm/Man%20Game/Tour%20de%20Romandie/rom405.png

Its now time for Gesink to reach the summit, this is his terrain: -’12 to Kashechkin at the check!

i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/mrlol_pcm/Man%20Game/Tour%20de%20Romandie/rom406.png

His time doesnt stand long though, as fellow Dutchman Dekker does another 2 seconds faster!

i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/mrlol_pcm/Man%20Game/Tour%20de%20Romandie/rom407.png

Meanwhile at the finish, Phinney is coming in. And he does 3 seconds faster then Kashechkins and Nibalis times.
Back at the check, Rogers has now passed: and he crushed Dekkers time by 14 seconds!

i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/mrlol_pcm/Man%20Game/Tour%20de%20Romandie/rom408.png

Phinneys time at the finish doesnt stand for too long though, Gesink is coming in: He’s 14 seconds faster. Shortly after him, Fothen puts himself in second place, 6 seconds down.

i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/mrlol_pcm/Man%20Game/Tour%20de%20Romandie/rom409.png

Abal is now coming in: but he only manages third, as he isn another 6 seconds slower then Gesink.

i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/mrlol_pcm/Man%20Game/Tour%20de%20Romandie/rom410.png

Here comes the only man that threathend Rogers in the prologue: Jerome Coppel. Can he do the same again, or maybe even beat him?
No! He’s 12 seconds slower! That seems a lot to take back in the decent.
At the finish, Dekker has now beaten Gesinks time by a single second.

i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/mrlol_pcm/Man%20Game/Tour%20de%20Romandie/rom411.png

Rogers is now coming in, and he’s an amazing 21 seconds faster then Dekker!
And Coppel hasnt improved much in the decent; he only takes third, one second behind Dekker.

i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/mrlol_pcm/Man%20Game/Tour%20de%20Romandie/rom412.png

Here is Sanchez, #2 in the current Gc: but he dissapoints with a 13th place, 55 seconds down. Only Pluckin left to challenge Rogers.

i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd86/mrlol_pcm/Man%20Game/Tour%20de%20Romandie/rom413.png

But the jellow jersey doesnt make him Superman. Although his 6th place seems reasonaly, the 31 seconds that he is behind on Rogers, are 5 too many to keep the jersey! So Michael Rogers hasny only won his second time trial in this race, he’s also wearing jellow again going into the mountain stage!.
