Theres barely a flat road on the route, packed with hills. Last years shock winner Boogerd has retired, and Gesink will look to pick up the mantle as leading Dutchman.

After a huge amount of early attacks, a break of 7 eventually got clear

With 150km to go Iglinski and Marzano attacked the peleton, at 145km Chavanel and Cataldo went, and then also Pineau and Velits with 123km to go

Meaning a break group of 13 with 100km to

But Rabobank figured greatly in the chase and with 50km to go the catch is imminent - despite Rabobank loosing Kroon to a puncture

The race looks between thses 12 as a group of Sella, Claeys, Cunego, Monfort and Bettini are over a minute behind those chasers.
