Signing young talents...

It's february... and my all-everything scout found a "future great".

It seems the game lets me sign him now.

Is there any reason I wouldn't want to sign a young talent for next year early rather then wait until the traditional July signing period? Will other teams sign him?

And what does the "trainee" check box mean?

Trainees join your team early (in August i think).

The benefit of not signing him yet is that he gets to ride in U23 races. For some reason, once you sign a young rider, he disappears from the game until he comes to your team in (August or at the end of the season).

There is the risk of other teams signing him, but ive found that they tend not to sign the ones that you think will do well

If you select Trainee, he will join you team earlier, like august or so. He still will have a 3-year-contract but I guess it is a good feature unless you have to much riders in your team. (You can start training him earlier)

Yea, signed a feature great, made him trainee, and he joined in August, didnt remember i was had signed him tough, but now it appears he will become a 80+ time trialist =D

Does riding in the under 23 races accomplish anything? Does it help them develop?

I dont know to be honest, but you wont gain anything by signing him in February.

Wait until Arpil at least and see if he rides in the U23 races. If he doesnt, then you may as well sign him as there is nothing to be gained.

But if he does, it would be best to wait because the more U23 races hes in, the bigger advantage he'll have from riding if there is one
