Hi all
Im fairly new to the game and was wondering how big a time gap has to be on a flat stage before it counts. Ive played a couple of flat races/stages where i've won by ~20-30 seconds but when the results page comes up after the 3D race ends, the gap hasn't counted.
Is it a distance or an amount of time that matters?
Sorry if the question has been asked before (i searched but couldnt find anything) |

In a flat stage the minimum difference between groups is 20 seconds. |

More than that, while the time differences for the classification are measured between the first riders of each group, the time difference used by the "referees" to distinguish between two groups is actually measured between the last rider of the first group and the first lider of the second group. This way you may see a difference of over one minute between two groups and have them timed as one group only because the difference between the particular riders never extended over 20 seconds.
BTW, the minimum difference is 10 for hill and 7 seconds for mountain stages. |

It explains why the gap wasnt recorded because there were a couple of riders between me and the peleton that would have meant that there was no gap bigger than 20sec |

It may be useful if you're making brakeways or attacks in the lat kms. If you see one of you're riders falling down between your escapee and the pursue, slow him down, to something around 5% effort so he would cruise with the peloton to the finish. This way your riders don't cross the line between You and the chase and you have better chance of actually receiving the time advantage You've gained. Thats especially important with short stage races with no mountains where a succesful breakaway of 30 secs might mean winning the whole race. |
