Could someone please explain, or point me to a thread explaining, the "potential" stat which is in DBs. I figured as much as it was a riders room for growth but after looking and seeing riders like McEwen and Armstrong have some of the highest "potential" in the PCM DB for '09 and they're at an age where they will have reached pretty much any potential they ever had by now and will start to taper off I had second thoughts on what the stat may mean exactly.
Further more, if it was what it would imply and what i thought in that it just indicates a rider's room to grow is there some way to quantify it? Ie. does a potential of 8 mean that a rider can gain as much as 8 in one stat at a time? or maybe they can gain 8 more points total or 8 more to their average?
Even if potential does seem like a simple concept i feel pretty dumbfounded as to what it actually is in practice, so any info would be much appreciated.
The potential does not decrease over the years. It indicates how good a cyclist is or could get. It is mainly important for youth riders because the potential for each value is calculated based on the potential.
(*potential for each value = limit_i_plain, limit_i_mountain, ...)
Look at the STA_potential, it is somehow linked to this value. My guess it, that the ...youngriderpot_min and ....max is the minimum/maximum total of limits a young rider can have having a certain potential.
