Plenty of hills, plenty of early attacks. Jason Donald took the first KoM as part of an early 19 man group that was caught. Sergio Ortega took the 2nd, crossing solo.
9 riders set off in pursuit of the Spaniard
Tolleson, Rooijackers, Costa, Rincon, Ansons, Meersman, Pomer, Khalmuratov and Albert.
Ortega continued to lead but Rooijackers attacked on the 3rd go up the KoM hill and passes Ortega on the line
The group of 10 now comes together, Rooijackers takes the next climb, while the Starbucks pair of Tschopp and Sibilia Romero have attacked the peleton and are in pursuit
They cant catch the break and are caught themselves though, while Rooijackers extends his KoM lead on the next climb
The break splits as they enter the final lap under the pace of Niels Albert. Meersman and Ortega are with him
The final go up the KoM hill and Albert and Meersman have attacked, dropping Ortega. Its now just these 3 ahead of the pack, the others having been caught
8km to go and at last the favourites click into action with Lloret making a move
Astarloza, Del Nero and Traksel have also attacked
But it is still Albert and Meersman up front
Albert leads into the final kilometre
After the group of 4 chasers, 2 more have attacked - Reus and Lowe
As Astarloza charges away from the lead chase group
Meersman and Albert are close, with the Jack Wolfskin rider maintaining a slight lead
But Astarloza is closing fast!
He finds a gap, gets through and wins! Astarloza denies the breakaway right on the line
Bewley was completely anonymous, and it is Astarloza who is the new race leader
