Actions after breakaway
T0XA
You attacked, gain some gap from peloton and your yellow bar is empty. What you do next if you are in a group with some AI riders?

1. Short relay?
2. Inf. relay?
3. Dot?
4. Holding position?

What effort value we must set for filling back yellow bar?

Is there any connection between pulse and decreasing/increasing yellow bar?

Like, effort=75, pulse=180, yellow bar slowly decreasing, or
effort=45, pulse=140, yellow bar increasing?

If you ride in breakaway alone, how do you decide what value must be?

How to make group breakaway more effective instead of inf.relay with high effort value and being in front all the time?

If your yellow bar is empty it isn't for a successful breakway... You can hold your position and save your energy, but you risk attack from your breakaway companions...So if have some yellow bar then, set Short relays... With effort under 55 your yellow bar will be growing and over 55 it'll be decreasing... So I set in breakaways most effort 55 and Short relays, with AI's and without them too... Of course in some situations you can or must increase your effort more than 55...

Sometimes you have to counter-attack, and if attakers sprint last long your yellow bar always will be empty or near it in the end.

So, I wonder, what we have to do to keep pace high and recovery yellow bar too.

If your rider is a bit stronger than his companions, then he has some yellow bar after the counter-attack (counter-atacking of course important, it costs less energy than attacking)... If he isn't so strong, than he has to recover by Holding position... But counter-attacking isn't good always, after counter-attack there are mostly more riders in the breakaway, and it means that peloton will most likely relay...

Another question.

If we made breakaway with 2 riders of our team, should we protect one rider by another to keep more energy at one of them and increase chances for stage win when peloton begins to speed up?

Or short relays are preferable?

To make sure my yellow bar doesn't go down to quick I usually put a rider on short relay once he is to reach the guys he counterattacked. This way he'll ride to them with smaller effort than continuing attack, especially, taht if he passes them too quickly, they'll probably counter once again, leading to your rider being completely wasted. If You see an attack going on wait few seconds for AI rider to counter and follow them with counterattack, not the original breaker. If You time this well your rider will hide behind their back while counterattacking and use his bars slower. And remember that even if You allow one rider to breakaway without response there's a high chance your group will get to him just relaying due to his lack of energy. This is a matter of practice, but if you;'ll remember not to counter every single attack in the breakaway, you'll be able to save a lot of yellow bar.

EDIT - I would also let the weaker one relay and stronger hold position and save energy. I do the same if I have just one rider and I see the peloton is not into closing the gap. This way you'll always have a bigger chance to put a decisive attack.

I would prefer the less stronger to take relays and the stronger to only sit to have enough energy for the winning move Wink
