Boasson Hagen

Do any of you think that Edvald Boasson Hagen could have a chance at the TdF? He is a great talent and a pretty good rider allready, but do you think he will ever be able to go for the big win? I mean, to win a large tour you need to be one of the best at... well, everything.

No, not everything. You need to be an elite climber and time triallist and recover well. Hagen has one of those three things.

He's not the type of rider to do well in the mountains and he never will be.

He has every chance of being a fantastic rider, though.

What are we looking at then? A future winner of either the green or white jersey?

In my opinion, Boasson Hagen will be a Classics winner, like MrContador said but I don't think he will develop like other riders, I mean that maybe Boasson Hagen will be a "type" of rider if you know what I mean.

Boasson Hagen winning the Tour de France? No way! That's impossible Pfft
Edvald's not a climber.

Voted 11th-20th.

Edvald will turn into a sprinter.
I don't think he will be as good on cobbles as Boonen or Canc

And don't use Gent-Wevelgem as a cobbled race, because it isn't -.-
its more of a wind race
All those who have rode in flanders in the fields will know what i mean

prevent hangovers --> stay drunk
pozzato, basically the most stupid cyclist around

RIP WW. Gone but not forgotten

Boasson Hagen is so good, he will win all 3 GT's, in one year. Pfft

After looking at his results this year in the 3 big (Het Volk (104), RVV (66) and Paris-Roubaix (62)). He has to improve quiet a bit if he wants to win them.

I think EBH is very much like Fabian Cancellara. His climbing abilty is quite the same, he's very good at Flat very fast while finishing. He's a bit of Cancellara however he has a bit of own style as well. I think something about 20th-40th Place. He will be typical Classics rider with ability riding Cobblestones.

Even more good news about him is that few Stages at Tour de France like Stage 13 from Vittel to Colmar are hilly ones so i think EBH can win stages like those.

And mountain stages like this the Tourmalet stage this year.

why can't he develop into a mountain rider? who would have believed that wiggins would finish 4th at the TdF this year.

we had this discussion a while ago when i said that anyone had the ability to become a contender for the TdF if they worked at it. i was mocked and shouted down (similar to when i said Cav would win MSR) but i have been proven right this year.

at the moment Boassen Hagen isn't good enough in the mountains, but there's no reason why he couldn't become good in the mountains. Wiggins has transformed at the age of 29. Hagen is still young enogh to become whatever he wants to be, depends on how much work he's willing to put in.

I'm quite sure Boasson Hagen can finish TDF in top 3 some day. But not yet. If he does the same as Wiggins (loses weight), he can really do that. I'm actually quite sure Cancellara could do it as well Smile

Excactly...

Boasson Hagen doesn't have the capabilities to win a GT, nor come close.

He will become a great sprinter, but even more so a great 1-day racer... He could become a rider like Pozzato imo. Good sprinter, Good hilly and cobble abilities...

davey90
As much as I like him I think the best position he'd get in the TdF would be the top 10, which is a pretty good result for a rider like him btw.

I think he will be a rider like Jens Voigt but a little bit better, he won't be the best on hills, cobbles or mountains, but he'll be quite good in everything.

Calzone
It really depends what he tries/wants to be. If he wants to be a sprinter, he'll not win the TDF. But if he decides to try winning the TDF someday, he can do a very good result. I'm sure of that

Imo it only proves that doping is still living up to it's best...
